Chapter 3
Chapter 3
**Jamie Bond**
She had the duck. She finally held the golden duck. Well it wasn't golden but that would be pretty cool. What could you get for a golden duck? Jamie's head went spinning with all sorts of ideas but she shakes them off. Jamie tends to get distracted and gets off topic easily.
Now holding the duck feels wrong. The reason why she originally wanted it was to show her sister that she could do it, to prove that she could accomplish things too. But saying that would be a lie. She didn't really felt like she accomplished anything. Maybe the whole thing was really just to prove it to herself.
In reality Jamie didn't do much. Alice did all the work, or whatever she did. All she did was save a freshly peed guy from a vent. That's not really something to put on a plaque.
One thing she did benefit from the night was she made friends. Well maybe they weren't her friends yet but her mission was to make them a kickass squad.
She could train them to be her little Bond followers. She started to laugh because all she could think of were Oompa Loopas following a James bond. Her mind went to strange places.
One thing on her mind was Lukas. Another mission of Jamie's was to get Lukas to become her boyfriend. She's sort of been crushing on him for a couple of years now. She never spoke to him till now. She already has a plan all figured out. Date Lukas, He will fall in love with her (Obviously), marry (They will take her last name) and then they will a billion of Bond babies.
Jamie's thoughts were interrupted by a light, gentle knock at her door. The knock belonged to her mother.
"Diner is ready." Her mother's voice said from behind the door. Jamie's mother has stopped opening her door. Her room is always a mess and her mother hates looking at messy thing, so she doesn't. Maybe that's why she stopped making eye contact with Jamie.
Jamie places the duck in a box in her closet and runs to the dinner table. Her mom had made spaghetti which was her favourite.
The table was set perfectly and spotless, like always. Her parents and sister were already sat down. They were all dressed up as if they were out at five star restaurants celebrating a 15th year anniversary. This was something Jamie never understood about her family. Actually there were plenty of things she didn't understand.
Her mother never left the house, yet she dressed herself in a dress and had her hair up nicely. Jamie's father wore a suit even if he had no business meeting to attend to. Even though her Dinners often felt like a business meetings. Her sister always looked her best. Her sister was perfect.
Jamie, however, wore a sweater with a half cat, half lama plastered on the front. Her socks were mixed matched and her leggings had a few holes (Not because she couldn't afford new ones, she likes holes).
She sat down with a smile and said "Mmm, my favourite."
Nobody responded.
She wasn't just an outsider at school; she was also one at home.
"Mother, father, I have some fantastic news." Amy (Jamie's sister) Said with a proud smile showing of her pearly whites. "As you all know I work for a High end Fashion company, Allure."
"Yes, we know. But what we don't know is why you still live with your parents." Jamie directed at Amy.
Jamie was always puzzled by this. Amy made loads of money, yet she chose to stay here at home. Her parents never questioned it or brought it up and whenever Jamie asked why she never got an answer.
Amy rolled off the comment by rolling her eyes and continued. "Well anyways. I landed Jamie an interview for an internship."
This made her mother looked up "At your work? At Allure?"
"Yes of course mother." All Amy got were stares and she knew why. "I know you guys are always talking about how Jamie needs to get a job and to grow out of childish habits. This would be the perfect opportunity. I can also give Jamie a little makeover and some tips. She could really learn a lot."
Jamie was stunned. She had no interest in an internship, especially at Allure. Why would Amy do this? It makes no sense.
"Well I think it's a great idea." Her dad said "Jamie will defiantly do it."
Her mother nodded.
"And I get no say?" Jamie said with a bitter taste.
"You will do this." Her dad said with a stern tone while, her mom just stared down at her plate.
"Is it at least a paid internship?" Jamie questioned
"They pay you in experiences." Amy said with a smile.
"So, in other words no?" Jamie retorted.
The rest of the dinner went without saying a word.
When Jamie got back to her room she lay on her bed and let out a sigh. There was no way she was getting out of the Interview but, there was also no way she was going to be an intern for Allure.
"Quack" She heard from her closet. Amie walked over and opened her closet door. She picked up the duck and started petting it.
That gave Jamie an idea. She wasn't going to get the job and smuckers was going to help.
~
Jamie woke up to something pecking at her toe. She blinked the sleep away to see Smuckers nipping at her and she groaned. When she looked at her phone she noticed it was six.
"Oh crap" she mumbled. "I'm going to be late."
Usually Jamie got up at 4:30. To most teenagers this would seem like a dreadful thing to do, but Jamie believed that sleep was a waste of time. Every morning she would go for a light 5k run; have a long shower and the other normal parts of getting ready for school. If she had time, which she always did, she would study a little bit of German.
Today she would have to cut the run to a 2k but it would have to do.
She sipped on her runners, tied her hair back and started running. The air was crisp and had a bite to it, her favourite part of her morning run.
Jamie loved running, but hated running in her neighborhood, so she would drive to another neighborhood. Since she didn't have the most time it would have to do.
Her family was rich, has a rich house, in a rich neighborhood. All the houses were perfect and all the families acted perfect. She knew this is just an illusion. At dinner parties all the families would wear a fake smile and show off about things that didn't matter.
On her street there was one house that was unlike the others. It was a bit ruin down. The owners just wouldn't sell it, which made their neighbors mad since it brought down their house value.
It was also strange since you never quite saw anyone coming out or into the house except this morning. Jamie noticed a girl quickly entered the house. She was dressed up, as if she was on a date. The dress was short which showed off her smooth chocolate legs. And her turquoise hair was messy and she looked upset.
Jamie kept running and decided she would ask charlotte if she was okay at school.
~Lukas~
History was the worse. It was a fact.
Lukas trudged into class with his history book in hand and searched for an open seat. He decided on the seat right behind Amanda. This was Lukas's favourite seat since he could stare at the back of her head and smell her perfume.
The bell rang and his teacher came up to the front of class and started speaking. A few minutes later the door swung open and a girl with a gigantic, toothy smile stood in the frame.
"Good Morning Mr. Sontag! Oh look at the weather, Gorgeous, simple Gorgeous. Did you get a haircut? IT looks amazing. Your Wife is a lucky woman." She said unnecessary loudly while walking into the room and taking a seat next to Lukas.
"I don't have a wife." Mr Sontag said "And I know you are trying to distract me from the fact that you are late, Jamie, it won't work." His face was stern and bitter.
Jamie let out a 'huff' and said "No wonder why you don't have a wife."
That earned her a look from the teacher.
Lukas looked over at her when the teacher continued his lecture; she was sitting on her chair cross legged and was applying orange chap stick. Jamie noticed him looking and gave him a wink.
Lukas went back to taking notes and Jamie went back to doodling on her note pad.
There was about 25 minutes left of class and Mr. Sontag said "You may work on whatever homework you may have for the remainder of class."
Everybody took this as time to go on their phones or to chat to friends; however, Lukas took this as an opportunity to speak to Amanda.
"H-hey, hey Amanda?" Lukas tapped her shoulder and she spun around.
"Yeah? What is it?" She questioned, as her friend giggled and raised a eyebrow.
"I ju-ust wanted to say that your hair looks nice today." He gave a shaky smile hoping to retrieve one back.
The smile he got back was small, but he picked up on it. She turned back in her seat and resumed chatting with her friend.
"Fail."
Lukas turned his head to the side and said "How? She smiled, that's all I wanted."
Jamie raised an eyebrow "Well, bud I saw no smile and that was cute and all, but that's not how you are going to get a girl like that."
"What do you mean 'a girl like that'" Lukas asks.
"Amanda is pretty and popular. She would go for more of the Jocks, if this school follows the cliché of the average American high school."
"We live in Canada though." Says Lukas.
"You know what I mean, Lukas. I say you should completely give up on her and never give her a second glance."
"Am I really that bad looking?"
"Oh no, not at all. You are really quite handsome, really. A Cute little turtle you are."
"Umm thanks?" Never less a small blush appeared.
~
When Lukas got home he pulled out his camera and looked through the day's photos, usually admiring the ones of Amanda, but today he decided that Jamie's was a Br more interesting to look at.
Her face was a peculiar shape and her eyes seemed too big. But they're encaptivating and full of this childish excitement. Her smile took up 2/3's of her face but it suited her. It may have been just a photo but her hair seemed to bounce.
Tap tap
He almost flew across the room when heard the noise from his window. The face he was staring at form his computer was now at the window. Crap. Crap. Crap, He knew that she saw. Lukas went to the window and opened it.
"Why on earth are you here?" He asks.
"Why on earth have you been staring at me for the last 20 minutes?" Jamie responds.
"Well you've been staring at me from my window, and I think that's creepier."
"Fair enough."
"Also how do you know where I live and why didn't you use the door."
"Too many questions let's cut to the chase." After Jamie said this the room went quiet long enough to make it awkward.
"Umm.....which is?"
"Ohhhhh yeah, I should probably tell you that."
"Yeah, that would make sense."
"Well since you like film and stuff-"She was interrupted
"I like photography, It's different."
"Well you have a camera and that's what I need." Jamie says "I want to make a new James Bond movie."
"And you want me to film it?" Lukas asks.
"Yes, you brilliant mind!" she exclaims "And I want to be every character in the movie."
"Everyone?"
"Yes."
"How is that going to work?"
"I'm sure you'll figure it out my lemon drop cupcake." And with that she slips back out of the window.
Lukas was very confused by what had just happened but for someone reason he now had a adrenaline rush and smile on his face.
The smile diminished when he heard his name being yelled for the kitchen "LUKAS!"
He made his way to the kitchen and found his mother sitting on the floor leaning against the dishwasher with a bottle of Jack Daniels in hand.
"Were you talking to yourself? Because I can't handle another crazy in this house, your dad is enough to handle. Because I heard you talking to yourself and your dad is crazy." Lukas's mother slurred.
"Dad's gone." He said with an annoyance in his tone.
"Don't say that." Her eyes seemed to get darker.
"Dads gone mom and he's not coming back."
"Shut up, shut up, shut up." Anger built in his mother and then she broke and started to ball.
This had been happening for a while now. Ever since Lukas's dad left 6 months ago his mother had turned into a drunk.
Lukas actually liked that his dad had finally left the house. His dad had been cheating and was not good at hiding it. Lukas was never close to him since his dad seemed to detach himself from the family and showed no signs of caring for them.
The first month of his moms drunkenness was hard for Lukas, seeing his mother wasted was depressing and upset him. He hated his dad for what he drove his mother to do. Now Lukas was done with it. He had run out of pity for her. She needed to grow up and take responsibility for this household.
Lukas stared at his broken mother and then tears came. He wasn't crying over his mother but crying over what his life had come too. Te stress overwhelmed him and there comes a point where you just need a cry and that point had come now.
His mother still crying handed over the bottle but he shook it away.
