(Reader's P.O.V.)

A wave of confusion hit me. It was only this morning that he told me no and now he's saying it's ok? It took mama a couple of hours to coax me out of my room after that kerfuffle and now he's giving me mixed signals. I left the apartment after we watched some movies saying I needed fresh air and now I'm feeling a little suffocated by this proposition. "But earlier you said you didn't feel that way..." "Well earlier I was scared. I've never been in a relationship before..." He gives a gentle yet clumsy smile. It's a little awkward and the corners of his mouth twitch as if he's not used to it. He's acting kind of off. "You're not Sonic, are you?" "I-I am! I'm just not used to this stuff..." He awkwardly scratches his cheek. His eyes seem a little strange too... Those red swirling patterns seem almost hypnotic. He seems to be behaving really awkwardly... Is he really telling the truth? "I guess we could try... Now I have to explain to mama that we're dating now. She was ready to bite your head off for what you said earlier. Though to be fair I didn't explain it well. Shadow said he was planning to break your legs for doing that." He suddenly frowns as if realizing something. "Umm... could we perhaps not tell them or anybody for that matter... I kinda wanna keep this a secret." Ah... I guess he wouldn't want to be seen in public with a monster... "Then maybe we shouldn't..." "No no no no no!" He starts waving his arms frantically. "I..."

(Sonic's? P.O.V.)

My brain hits overdrive. I need some kind of excuse to keep this a secret. I can't tell her it's because I'm not actually Sonic but an alternate persona living in his body. She wouldn't understand. And I really don't want her to know. I already almost screwed it up with my behavior. I need to learn to be more Sonic-like. "I... I don't want people to know because if they find out I'm dating someone, it'll be all over the news. You'll get hounded by reporters all the time and I know you don't like drawing attention to yourself. So I want to keep this a secret so you don't feel uncomfortable." Did she buy it? She's being too quiet... Is she on to me? Have I messed up? "I guess that makes sense... I thought it was because of my curse..." "What curse?" Come to think of it she mentioned that when I met her a moment ago. "I was born with a curse that makes me look like a monster... my powers are cursed too. They tend to backfire and hurt people when I use them. I come out here sometimes to try and control it..." So she thinks that she's cursed because she was born different? Humans aren't known for having supernatural powers so it makes sense that when one does everyone would be afraid of that person. The real monster here is the golden hedgehog sitting next to her. She's lucky she's cute otherwise I might've hurt her. "I don't see any monster. I only see a unique human with some interestingly destructive powers. Find the right outlet and those powers might just turn out for the better." Although part of me is scheming an idea to use her powers for world domination... I'm just going to keep that thought to myself. She's too innocent for world domination. Suddenly I can feel my power waning. Looks like I've run out of time... I guess time flies when you're with the person you like. "I better get going. It's getting pretty late and you should probably get back home before it gets dark. Let's meet here again tomorrow." I watch her take her leave out of the jungle before I rush out myself. I manage to make it all the way to that fox's workshop before a suddenly pass out. If only I had a little more time...

(Reader's P.O.V.)

I return home in a daze. Today has been a whirlwind... First Sonic rejects me and now he's my boyfriend? I guess? I'm seriously confused. Happy but confused. I eat dinner and then enjoy a movie night which was meant to make me feel better about being rejected but now it's kind of like a secret celebration. And then I just go to bed... wondering what the heck happened that made Sonic change his mind.
