Chapter Nine: I'd Probably Mess This Up
Chapter Nine: I'd Probably Mess This Up
Mr. Herondale, a tall man around 6"8 with the same hazelnut brown hair like Sepine, and a facial hair not too long but fit his face.
He stood up in the doorway, jaw dropped. "What the hell?!" He yells. I sit up, and so does Mary Ann Beth. She's holding the covers to hide her areas.
"What are you doing in here? My apartment?!" I yell back.
"Trying to find my daughter, you irresponsible freak! And who's this slut?!" I've never heard a teacher curse before, especially not at a student, or once was a student.
"She's my girlfriend! Sepine isn't even here, she hasn't been here for two weeks!"
"Do you know where she is? I've texted, called, even tried to FaceTime her! She doesn't answer! Text her for me, I need to know she's ok!"
"Since when have you ever cared about her?!"
"I've always cared about her, don't you think I would care about my daughter?! Have you even seen her?! She's practically a skeleton!" He had tears forming in his eyes.
I never really knew he cared. He's breaking down in front of me. I grab my phone from the nightstand, why haven't I thought about texting her before? I text her.
Me: Where are u?
I wait a second or two, and she responds right after.
Sepine: I went to the beach for a while. I'll be back August 3rd.
Me: Ok... Cya.
She doesn't respond but I tell her father she went to the beach, and will be back tomorrow.
"You know, Mr. Herondale, I was in the middle of something." I say, gesturing his hand towards Mary Ann Beth.
"Of course you were. You're such an idiot, have you ever thought about your future? Or are you just going to continue having endless sex? Think about that, and you think you know my daughter?" He chuckles. "You might want to think that over again. She's actually smart but gets into fights because of that boyfriend of hers. She's not going to want to be hanging around some childhood friend forever. She's going to grow up, and you're going to be here with your middle school brain." He turns around, and leaves my home.
I turn towards Mary Ann Beth. "I want to get married." I blurt.
"You do?" She questions my statement.
I'm serious now. I'm not going to be chasing around Sepine my whole life. "I do, yes I'm serious."
We both smile, and I kiss her. "Move in with me, Mary Ann Beth." I say.
"Yes, yes! I'll move in with you!" She tackles me into a hug, then kisses my cheeks.
***
Mary Ann Beth left my house a couple hours ago to pack her boxes. Her college, LCCC, isn't too far from here.
There's a knock on the door. I walk over to the door, and open it. "Seine..." I say, she's wearing all black as usual.
Instead of saying "hello" or something, she snakes passed me.
"What's your problem?!" I yell at her, while slamming the door.
She turns around, and is looking at me from across the room. "What's my problem? You don't understand anything, you piece of shit!"
"What am I not understanding?! You don't talk to me, and you left for two weeks, and you were never here since you got in trouble!"
She picks up a glass cup I had out on the coffee table, and throws it at me. I quickly move out the way, and it breaks on the wall.
"Shut up, Nick! Shut up! I left because I wanted to get everything off my mind. I don't want to be around you!"
"Then why are you staying here?!"
"I needed to come here! I thought I liked you! But never mind that, you're just like every guy, a pig!" She stomps her way into Bass's room, and slams the door.
She slams the door so hard, a picture hanging up on the wall falls on the floor. The glass breaks, and it scatters on the floor. I knew I'd probably mess this up.
Mary Ann Beth opens the door, and finds the glass on the floor. She's holding one small box, and two other bigger boxes are behind her.
"What's wrong? Why is there glass on the floor, Nicky?" She asks with concern.
"Nothing, just an argument with Seine." I reply, giving her a reassuring smile.
She gives me a smile of her own, and pushes the boxes inside.
Seine thought she liked me.
