Why do you write?
Ha ha, oh gosh. So, there is no profound or cool answer to this in my case. :P Basically, when I write it's kind of like I'm getting to witness a movie playing in my head. And I really like my characters and their relationships, so the only way to watch their movie is to write it. So, voila! A book! :)
Out of all your stories, which one is your favorite?
Probably my short story The Wildwood's Wife. I wrote it after a NaNoWriMo as a way to hit the restart button on my creative juices. I let myself be as poetic and fanciful as I wanted, and I really love the kind of creepy fairy tale that came out of it.
How do you create your characters?
Hmm, that's a tough one. They just sort of show up. I have a nebulous cloud in my head of inspirations and ideas, and sometimes it'll spit out someone that I need to write about. :)
Out of your characters, which one are you the most like?
Nadia from The Price. She's shy and far too loyal to people who don't deserve it. Fortunately, I don't have a creepy guardian like Mr Lennox looking after me, but I do connect with her on her reluctance to leave her old life behind in pursuit of something better.
What do you do when you have writer's block?
Write and write and write some more. It's never fun to force out words when you have writer's block, but there's too much of a danger of never getting started again if you stop. I just try and find some new way of approaching whatever is blocking me until I can break through. (This adds up to many false starts that get cut later on)
How do you plan out your stories?
Storyboards on Pinterest and chapter summaries. The storyboards usually give me a mood I want to go for, and then when I think I've got enough to make a good outline I'll open a word doc and write summaries of what happens in each chapter.
What are your writing weaknesses?
Not always believing in myself, which I think a lot of people can relate to. Sometimes you just can't trust that your work might be enjoyable and so you hide it away and never let anyone see. I'm working on it, though. :)
What are you writing strengths?
It seems to be descriptions. That's, at least, what I get the most comments about. Like I said before, it's pretty much a movie in my head while I write, so it's very visual for me.
What genre do you read?
I try to read very broadly. What I'm currently into is fantasy, though. I'm reading the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J Maas. And on Wattpad I like retellings and historical fiction.
What genre do you write?
I crossbreed genres so much that I never know how to answer this. Generally they'll be some sort of made-up world based on a historical period from the past, and will have elements of fantasy and tragedy. Like if the Brontes wrote fantasy YA, I guess. :P (Not that I claim genius talent like the Brontes, heaven knows!)
Blurb/Summary:
"The Price" is a romance about a dancer, her murderously jealous master, the handsome boy who partners her, and the devastating revolution coming to a boil in their city.
