Runitback:
Three Things you love besides writing/reading?
1) Running - both sprinting and long distance runs (no longer than six miles though)
2) Curling up in my bed in winter with a cup of hot chocolate
3) Riding my bike for an hour of two while I listen to music
Three Things you hate?
1) When I have to pretend that I agree with someone or when I have to pretend to get along with someone I have a major conflict with. I don’t like to be fake.
2) Running in a snowstorm.
3) I hate when people try to pressure me into a situation or commitment that I don’t want
Why do you write?
I write because it’s something in my life that I have complete control over. It’s amazing if you really think about it. When I write, I have the power to create alternate universes or move mountains. It’s a way for me to explore different parts of the world and connect with the people reading my story. There’s nothing like it.
Out of all your stories, which one is your favorite?
My favorite story of the ones I wrote is the one I'm working on now, Hover. I really feel like I can relate to ALL the characters and that is a major first for me. :)
How do you create your characters?
I sort of let my characters develop themselves, if that makes sense? I create a basic profile for my character and then I just throw in obstacles in the story and sort of learn more about my characters along with the reader.
Out of your characters, which one are you the most like?
I would say that I am the most like my man Matt. I know exactly how it feels to be hardcore crushing on a girl who completely brushes you off. He’s a lot more sensitive than I am though. He cries a lot more than I do and sometimes I’m like, ‘Man up, Matt! Now is not the time for tears.’
What do you do when you have writer’s block?
I take a day off from actually writing, but I try to go outside or in an environment where I can observe something new, such as people-watching or hanging out by an awesome piece of nature.
Things like that inspire me. While I’m there, I try to think a bit about my story, but I also just take a nice break and let my brain have a bit of a break from my story. :)
How do you plan out your stories?
I usually just think of a point in the near future that I know my characters have to reach and then I figure out what needs to happen to get to it. But usually, it’s pretty loose. I don’t plan stuff out before I write.
