Three things you love besides writing/reading?

1) Swimming- It’s the only tolerable form of exercise. When I was little I was obsessed with being Ariel, so I think the love of water just kind of stuck.

2) Sleep

3) Dance parties with my two year old because it’s probably the only time I’m the best dancer in the room.

Three things you hate?

1) Laundry

2) Non-blinker users

3) Two-facedness

Why do you write?

It’s a great stress reliever for me. Any time I'm stressing out I channel that all into writing. Beyond that though, it’s just something I’ve loved for as long as I can remember; creating characters and stories.

Out of all your stories, which one is your favorite?

This is hard; right now it’s probably The Thief Who Saved My Life, but it’s still in its very early stages.

How do you create your characters?

Occasionally I pull traits from friends, family or people I know, but mostly I just pull them out of my head. I like to create characters that I would love or hate or someone I wish I could be more like.

Out of your characters, which one are you the most like?

I don’t typically like my characters to be very much like me, especially any main characters because I find if we’re too much alike I get a little bored writing it. I guess maybe I’m most like Talon who hasn’t actually been introduced yet, but will be in The Thief Who Saved My Life.

What do you do when you have writer’s block?

Take a break. Work on something else for a while.

How do you plan out your stories?

Usually I don’t. I just let the story tell itself and take me along for the ride. However, that said, I am actively trying to plan out my most recent story. For the first time ever, I’m trying it out.  I have a whole notebook already filled with character descriptions and ideas and things I really want a character to say or do and such to give me some basic direction into the story.
