G.S. Glow Requested Interview:

Three things you love besides writing/reading?

1) Hockey
2) Camping
3) Riding motorcycles

Three things you hate?

1) Chocolate
2) Caffeine
3) Hot dogs

Why do you write?

I used to be an avid reader, but then worlds started forming in my head and I decided I needed to get them out.

Out of all your stories, which one is your favorite?

That's an evil question. When I finish the book I'm working on now, it will be my 37th story. That's a lot to have to ponder over. I suppose if I had to pick one, I'd go with The Monster in the Woods, just because it is the oddest love story I've ever written.(https://www.amazon.com/Monster-Woods-Amber-Lynn-ebook/dp/B019XKOJPE)

How do you create your characters?

Usually, I just start writing and they take shape. I don't have a real process.

Out of your characters, which one are you the most like? Which one would you most want to be like?

Most like would definitely be Avery in the first books I wrote. Who I'd like to be like/imagine myself as, probably Nyx, because she really is just a butt kicker.

What do you do when you have writer's block?

I have to say I haven't had much trouble with this in the five years I've been writing, so I don't have a good answer. [G.S. Glow Commentary: Boo! That's not fair. *pouts*]

How do you plan out your stories?

Plan? There is no plan. I sit down and the story flows out of my fingertips. Sometimes I have an idea of where things will go, but usually I'm wrong. The characters are really in control of what's getting written.

What are your writing weaknesses?

I like to write a lot of talking and action kind of stuff with not so much description. Sometimes you have to have a really good imagination to figure things out, but I'm getting better at it.

What are you writing strengths?

I don't know that it's a strength, but I enjoy the fact that my brain seems to be full of endless ideas. I don't see me running out of them anytime soon.

What genre do you read?

Romance, pretty much all varieties, paranormal, some sci-fi

What genre do you write?

The same as what I read.

If you had to pick one book for a random reader (who has never read your work) which would it be and why?

This is another hard question. I guess Delay of Game. It's my newest finished creation and I like to think it's one of my best.

In Delay of Game was Kate based off of someone you know? Were any of the other characters?

I had to actually think about that for a second, not because she may be someone I know, but maybe a character in something I've watched. I can't think of anyone the people in the book are based off of.

Sum up your entire Avery Clavens series in either one word, one sentence, or one paragraph: A story of rebirth through sacrifice.

Is The Gray Side of Eden your first dip into Science Fiction?

It is not my first sci-fi book and the more I write it, it seems it's going more towards fantasy. I do have some books that are post-apocalypse, time travel and on other planets that are probably a little more sci-fi than The Gray Side of Eden.

Include a small blurb/summary of one of your stories so people can see your work.

Since I haven't wrote an official summary yet, here's a quick look from Delay of Game ...

"I'll have another."

Hope Nacin sighed as she heard the familiar voice beckon her to the other side of the bar. He was on his sixth pint of the night, a new record for him. Usually, he stopped around four.

The man had once told her his name was Jason, but Hope had never verified that was his real name. She'd thought about carding him on his third or fourth visit, even though there had never been a question about whether he was old enough to buy alcohol. It seemed silly to ask after already serving him without batting an eyelash.

Hope saw hundreds of people a night at The Blue Corral, the dingy country bar she worked nights in, but she'd never met someone as miserable as Jason. She'd made attempts to ask what was wrong. All of them were followed by a claim that there was nothing wrong. She had one time joked that his reply was exactly what someone who had something wrong going on in their life would say. That had gotten the harshness around his eyes to lighten a little, but no secrets were revealed.

It wasn't right for a man as gorgeous as Hope's frequent customer to be so sad. The beer he inhaled the two or three nights a week that he showed up didn't seem to help. His chocolate-colored eyes never lost the hint that he felt like the only man in a world full of people who didn't understand him.
