Drowning.

The members were at the studio filming a video for one of their newest songs. They'd been working on it for a few days. There were some individual scenes where members would be called up to film their parts, although whenever one of them would be called to film their solo part they would whine and complain because it meant they had to step away from whatever fun the group was having in their downtime.

Taehyung already knew that his scene would involve him having to act out a drowning scene in a water tank. The part was up for grabs from any of the members and nobody else really wanted to do it, and everyone claimed that Taehyung should because he was such a great actor. He didn't mind. He thought it would be a cool scene and he wanted to make it look as realistic as possible.

While the others were getting their hair and makeup done, Taehyung was with Jimin at the snack table discussing how he was going to go about the scene.

"Jiminie, what if I flail like this?" Taehyung suggested and started flailing his arms around. Jimin burst out laughing because his best friend looked ridiculous.

"I can't tell if you're serious or not," Jimin laughed.

"This isn't a laughing matter! I have to drown!" Taehyung teased.

"Obviously not for real!" Jimin teased back.

Yoongi came up behind them after he was done with his hair, "Maybe you should go practice in a bathtub somewhere."

"Practice what?" Taehyung asked.

"Drowning, duh," Yoongi shrugged. Taehyung started pouting and Yoongi patted him on the back pleading that he was just kidding.

"You're too serious sometimes," Yoongi smiled and started tickling Taehyung playfully. The younger ran away laughing and Jimin followed him.

While running around and playing with Jimin, a staff member called Taehyung over and said it was time for him to film his part. He had been excited, but once he was brought over to the water tank he couldn't help but feel a bit nervous. He worried about not being able to act well, and worried about it looking stupid.

"Oh Taehyung-ah," Hobi started as he made his way over to stand next to Taehyung and look at the water tank , "You're brave for this."

"What if I don't do well?" Taehyung pouted to his hyung.

"You'll do great!" Hobi encouraged cheerfully. All of the members were free to come over and wanted to watch Taehyung film his part. He felt a bit more pressured with everyone watching, but it was all the more motivation to do well.

"Are you nervous?" Jungkook asked. Taehyung nodded his head. "It could be worse hyungie, at least it's not an actual river or anything and just a tank!" the maknae smiled.

Jin had turned to a staff member who helped set the tank up, "Is this safe? I mean there's no way he could actually drowned while filming right?" Jin couldn't help but be worried. He always worried a bit when any of his dongsaengs had to film something that looked slightly dangerous.

The staff member asked Taehyung if he knew how to swim. Taehyung nodded.

"He'll be fine then," the staff replied. The members looked at Taehyung and he shrugged, "I guess I'll be fine then, yeah?"

The director guided Taehyung over to the tank. He had to climb up a ladder onto a platform, where he'd jump into the tank of water and the camera would record him from the front.

Hobi got nervous just watching Taehyung climb the ladder. He couldn't believe some of the stuff they had to or were willing to do when it came to their video shoots.

Taehyung stood at the top of the platform and looked down at his members. He was somewhat afraid of heights so he felt his pulse pick up a bit, but he took deep breaths and reminded himself he'd be fine.

"Go Taehyungie!" Jungkook cheered.

"Fighting!" Namjoon also cheered, "You've got this Tae!"

Taehyung smiled. The director went over what was going to happen. Taehyung was to jump into the water with a big splash, and he had to make it look as realistic as possible. He had to thrash around like he was trying to reach the surface of the water, but the director told him to make sure he made himself sink more instead of actually coming up. He then had to act like he'd passed out and go limp in the water.

"Do you think you can do all that?" the director asked.

"I think so," Taehyung said. He was confident and nervous at the same time. It was a strange feeling.

The members watched as the director yelled action. Taehyung immediately jumped into the water and the members watched him in awe saying how cool and brave he was.

However the first take didn't go as planned. Instead of flailing in the water like he was supposed to he immediately swam back up gasping for air. He grabbed onto the side of the platform and climbed out.

The members ran to the bottom of the platform and yelled up to him.

"What's wrong?!" Jimin yelled.

Taehyung could barely speak because he was shivering so badly. His lips were turning purple and his teeth were chattering.

"Is it really cold?" Yoongi asked curiously. The director came over and guided Taehyung down off the platform telling him to take a short break before trying again. A staff member brought Taehyung a towel and he wrapped it around himself.

Taehyung still couldn't speak because of how badly he was shivering. Jumping into the water tank had made his body feel like he'd jumped straight into a frozen lake. Why the hell was the water so cold?

Jungkook immediately pulled Taehyung into a tight hug and could feel how frozen his hyung was. "Oh my God, he's freezing!" Jungkook whined. He turned to his hyungs, "He's freezing!" he repeated.

The rest of the members came over and hugged Taehyung too. The boys body felt like an icicle.

"Are you okay?!" Hobi yelled at Taehyung. Taehyung nodded, "Y-yeah. Just c-c-old."

Namjoon and Jin ran to a staff member. "How is he supposed to film like this? He's practically frozen still. Why is the water so cold? Isn't that bad for him? Can you warm the water somehow?" Jin asked.

"That's just the way the water came. We don't have time to warm it. It will be a quick shoot if he just does it well immediately," the staff replied.

Namjoon frowned, "This water could hurt him."

The staff member shrugged, "Not if he does it right."

Namjoon and Jin sighed in frustration and walked away. They felt a bit defeated when they realized there was nothing they could do. The director called for Taehyung to come back and get back on the platform.

Taehyung was even more nervous than the first time. Now that he knew how cold the water actually was, he wasn't looking forward to filming this anymore. He didn't even want to look down at his members or other staff because he felt somewhat embarrassed. Just do this in one take. Suck it up and finish the filming no matter how cold it is or else you'll have to keep getting back in this water.

While Taehyung was thinking to himself the director yelled action again. The singer hesitated for a moment before hearing "You can do it Taehyungie!" He could tell it was Jimin. He took a deep breath and jumped back into the water and it felt like he was being poked and prodded with icicles the further down he sank. It was so cold it was hard for him to hold his breath. He desperately wanted oxygen. He could feel his limbs going numb even though he was trying his best to flail around and make it look like he was drowning. He wasn't even sure how long he was supposed to keep this up, but the longer he was in the water the more he started to panic. It was painful. He was hurting. He needed air. He felt the panic shoot through his chest and out into his entire body when he realized he needed to get back out of the water.

Except he couldn't. He was dizzy and disoriented at this point and couldn't move well. He couldn't save himself at this point even if he wanted to and that terrified him even more. How long until someone pulled him out? He had no idea. He accidentally sucked in water in a desperate attempt to breathe. He was struggling and he didn't understand why nobody was saving him.

He realized nobody was saving him because he was supposed to look like he was drowning. Except he was drowning.

Help! Someone please help me! Help! I don't want to die, I don't want to die! I can't breathe! Help!

"Something is wrong," Jungkook frowned and took a step closer to the water tank. A staff member gently pushed him back away from the cameras.

"He's doing great!" Yoongi said, trying to ease Jungkook's anxiety.

"No something is wrong!" Jungkook felt panic shooting through his own body. He could see Taehyung struggling and he knew that's what it was supposed to look like, except Jungkook knew the difference between Taehyung acting and Taehyung not acting.

And he knew Taehyung wasn't acting.

"He's drowning!" Jungkook cried.

"That's the general concept we're going for here," Jin said.

"No! He's not acting! Someone get him out! Someone help him!" Jungkook cried. He could see the way Taehyung was struggling in the water and he could tell it was sincere panic shooting through his hyung. He could tell Taehyung was honestly trying to swim up and couldn't.

The rest of the members watched and realized something did seem wrong.

"Hey is he okay?" Hobi asked concerned, "Can someone get him out?" he asked a staff member standing near the platform.

"No! I'm not yelling cut yet! This scene is perfect!" the director yelled.

Jungkook couldn't take it anymore. He ran to the bottom of the ladder of the platform and started climbing it, "He's drowning! I know when hyungie is acting! And he's not! He can't swim in this and he's trying to get out!" Jungkook cried. The director yelled cut and yelled at the rest of the members as they all ran towards the tank in a panic. They started climbing up the platform too. Jin looked at Taehyung and saw his body go completely limp.

"Taehyung!" Jin screamed. When everyone realized he'd actually gone unconscious in the water, the panic really picked up. Jungkook was immediately at the top of the platform and diving into the water within seconds. His body tensed up at the cold but his instinct to save Taehyung greatly outweighed the pain of the cold. He grabbed the collar of Taehyung's shirt and immediately started swimming up. The hyungs noticed Jungkook was starting to struggle too and they all reached into the water and grabbed both of them and pulled them out of the water.

"Hyung! H-hyungie!" Jungkook cried to Taehyung. Now he was freezing and shivering too. Jimin immediately started CPR as all the members surrounded him and tried also shaking him awake. Staff was running around trying to find things to warm him. They found a bunch of blankets and some hand warmers. The members were in tears begging Taehyung to be alright.

Thankfully Jimin didn't have to do CPR all that long. Taehyung's eyes shot open pretty quickly and he started coughing up water. The members immediately patted his chest and back to help him cough up the water while Taehyung also tried to suck in deep breaths as he gasped for air. He never appreciated oxygen the way he did in this moment.

His chest and throat were on fire as he kept coughing up water. He was shivering so badly he couldn't even move his limbs or attempt to speak. Staff members had come up and put the blankets around Taehyung, but Jin and Namjoon were so angry at the staff members that they both told everyone else to back off.

"Oh my poor Taehyungie," Jimin cooed as he held Taehyung tightly and continued to try and help the boy breathe.

Yoongi had grabbed Jungkook and hugged him tightly to try and help the maknae warm up too.

"Our little hero." Yoongi kissed the top of Jungkook's head. All of them were crying. This was the most terrifying thing they'd ever witnessed and everyone regretted not listening to Jungkook's worries sooner. Jungkook was absolutely furious with the director. Once he caught his breath he yelled at him. "I told you! I told you something was wrong! I know my own hyung better than any of you do! Why didn't any of you listen to me and stop filming when I told you to?! Is a good camera shot worth more than his entire fuckin life?!" the maknae screamed through his tears. Yoongi held the youngest tighter. He knew how upsetting this entire thing was and he didn't blame Jungkook for being so angry. He too felt guilty for not listening.

The director had no excuse but simply said he was sorry and should have listened. Jungkook ignored him and crawled over to Taehyung.

Taehyung had finally gotten some of his breath back and the coughing had calmed down. The warmth of his members pulling him into a tight hug warmed him up greatly. He had heard everything Jungkook had yelled and realized he was only saved because Jungkook had become aware of what was going on. He reached his arms out towards his maknae as his tears fell. Jungkook hugged him tightly as the two warmed eachother up.

"Th-thank y-you," Taehyung tried to say to Jungkook but it was hard to speak. He had the worst migraine imaginable and wanted to crawl into a dark hole somewhere and sleep for days if he could. His entire body was still on fire, regardless of the fact that the water he was pulled from was as cold as ice. He gripped the back of Jungkook's shirt tightly and could only express his gratitude through his tears. He was so terrified that he was going to die. Die and never see any of his brothers again. Never see his maknae again. He knew he'd never be able to repay Jungkook for what he did, so he hoped the unconditional love he had for his maknae would be enough.

The rest of the members also started scolding the staff a bit. They were angry that even after they too expressed concern for Taehyung, nobody bothered to listen.

"Shouldn't they be trained in this kind of thing?! Shouldn't they know when something is going wrong?!" Hobi cried as he ran his hand through Taehyung's hair. The others shrugged. They asked Taehyung if he was alright and the boy simply nodded. He was exhausted.

After everything calmed down everyone helped get Taehyung down from the platform and he was guided into a lounge. The members helped him get changed into warm, dry clothes. Staff members talked amongst themselves and then returned saying they'd resume filming another day and that the members could go home.

Taehyung started crying again after the staff members walked out. All of his members ran and surrounded him.

"Hey, no no no, it's okay," Hobi cooed as he pulled Taehyung into a hug.

"I don't want to anymore," Taehyung said through tears. This had been enough for him. He didn't want to try filming the scene again. If he was being honest he didn't even want to be anywhere near a body of water for a long, long, time. Or ever at this point.

"Don't want to what, Tae?" Yoongi asked.

"Film that again." Taehyung started sobbing and coughing again as he wiped his tears with his shirt sleeve. "I'm sorry. I can't."

"No don't be sorry. We completely understand. We don't want you doing that again," Jin said. He knew he had worried about Taehyung filming this for a reason.

"I don't want t-t-o disappoint any-o-one." The singer was hyperventilating at this point because he'd worked himself up so much. He felt absolutely terrible and disappointed in himself for failing. He felt like he let everyone down. His members, the staff, ARMY, everyone.

"Oh Taehyungie," Jimin pulled Taehyung's head into his chest, "You could never disappoint us. We will figure it out. Your safety is way more important than filming. Okay?" Jimin kissed Taehyung's temple. When Taehyung didn't reply Jimin asked again, "Okay? You understand what I'm saying?"

Taehyung nodded halfheartedly.

"Let's get home," Yoongi said. He could tell his dongsaeng was exhausted and needed to recuperate. Everyone got in the car and headed home. Taehyung still wasn't very strong so the members helped him to his bed where he immediately crashed on his pillow. Although he didn't have much strength to express it yet, he couldn't thank his members enough for saving him. Especially his maknae. He was beyond grateful to have the worlds greatest baby brother. Jungkook and Jimin curled up with him and held him tightly as they rested. The hyungs asked if the maknae's needed anything and they said no. Even though Taehyung had passed out immediately, they all started going on and on about how much they love him and how scared they were and how glad they were he was okay.

After that, the hyungs retreated to the living room.

"He's so brave," Hobi pouted.

"Sometimes maybe too brave for his own good," Namjoon replied.

"How did Jungkook know? He was the only one who could tell. How did he do that?" Jin asked.

"Jungkook knows Taehyung better than any of us. He's always had that instinct towards him. They're just the same person in two bodies. He just knew," Namjoon replied.

They all started talking about how much their camera director sucked and how angry they were at the staff for not doing something sooner. They discussed what would come next for the video shoot and what they planned to do about that scene of the video. Yoongi said he really didn't care if they cut the scene, as long as Taehyung didn't have to get back in the water again. They decided they were too drained to really worry about it for now and they all made their way back into the maknae's bedroom. All three of them were fast asleep. The hyungs curled up together on the floor beside the bed. They wanted to be close to Taehyung incase he woke up coughing or sick or needing anything. They didn't care that it was uncomfortable.

But they did care about Taehyung. More than anything.

[The End]
