It's another Monday,the second week of school. The school's daily routine has adjusted back to normal.

Everyone was back to school too.
In our class, students were busy with whatever concerns them. Some were busy with books,some with their friends and others like me who are neither interested in books nor friends were just seated and moping.

I was so bored,the Physical chemistry we were supposed to have wasn't holding. I sat face down on my locker. Scarlet and a boy sitting next to her were talking and laughing over something that might not be funny.

I felt someone poke me with a pen,I turned to see a smiling Scarlet looking at me.

"What?" I asked her

"Have you heard?"

" Heard what?"

"We have a new student in our class."

"A new student in SSS3?" I asked and she nodded still grinning from ear to ear.

I became confused " why is it something to smile about?"

"I heard he's so handsome." She almost screamed spinning in her seat. I looked around us to make sure no one was observing my stupid sister.

"Scarlet Ahunna Taye Asinobi." I whisper-yelled

"Yeeeees, that's my name."

"Comport yourself please."

"Why?" She gave me a sarcastic no teeth smile "am I embarrassing you?"

"You know I can actually slap that stupid smile off your face"

"Baby girl, I would want to see you try. I will show you that big sister is not just a tittle" she winked at me and I scoffed. When it comes to fighting,I can defeat every of my agemates but there's someone I can't go up against, that's my sister, if I dare, she will beat me up to a pulp.

"So big sister,are you not supposed to be a model to me?" I asked calmly

"My dear little one, I'm a model to you,you should always try to follow my footsteps." She proudly said raising her shoulders a little.

I turned to my right facing her "So,are you saying I should smile like an idiot when someone tells me we have a handsome new student in our class?" She copied my position as she turned to her left "My most precious little sister,from the last time I checked, handsomeness was still a good thing,so,if you smiled or even squealed in delight when someone told you that there's a handsome new student in your class,no one will say you did something bad unless the person is you or someone like you. It is something normal for teenage girls."

I shook my head "you're unbelievable."

"You still love me anyways, don't you?

"Can you please let go of my hand?" I asked her as I tried to remove my hand from her grip,she was holding my hand all along like we were discussing something important. "If I let go of my sister's hand,whose hand am I going to hold onto?"

"I don't mean that figuratively,silly."

She laughed at me as she went back to what she was doing.

"You're adorable little sister."

"You're cute big sister."

"How can you say your big sister is cute? You have no respect." I didn't reply to that,she went back to what she said was doing and I went back to moping around.

After about 3 minutes, someone banged their locker three time and we all stood up.

"Good morning sir!" We chorused

"Good morning students,have your seat."

Our Vice Principal Academics, Dr. Ochello stood in front of our class with a teenage boy who had his hands inside his pockets. He must be the new boy. Who on Earth have their hands inside their pockets when in front of a class or a crowd? And why does he look so familiar?

"I am here to introduce to you your new classmate" he motioned to the boy beside him "Tell the class about yourself."

"Hi everyone, my name is Jake Evans. I'm 17 years old. I was born in Oklahoma USA" at this point "wow,wow,wow" echoed our class like siren.

"My Dad is from here. I love music and I love making friends with fighters" he made eye contact with me and smiled. God!,who is this guy?

"I hope to get to know each and every one of you as we work together this last year of high school."

"Secondary School!" Someone corrected from the back.

"Ooh,yeah,thank you." He replied

"Okay class,what do you say to him? Dr. Ochello asked like we are still in Nursery school.

"Welcome Jake." They all chorused.

"Thank you once again." He was still looking at me. I had never felt so intimidated before. Scarlet dropped a paper on my locker. I opened it and it read. WHAT'S UP? WHY IS HE LOOKING AT YOU LIKE THAT?

"I DON'T KNOW, I FIND IT STRANGE TOO." I wrote and gave it back to her.

"Jake,since you don't have a seat and a locker yet,find someone and share with." Dr. Ochello said.

"You don't have to worry sir,I already have a friend here." He said as he walked towards me maintaining eye contact. Good God! My heart pounded so fast,I felt my palm becoming sweaty.

"Hi fighter,how have you been?" He asked me and the whole class erupted in laughter including Dr. Ochello. I didn't respond to that,I was quiet.

"If you're not going to talk to me, I'm sure you wouldn't mind sharing your seat with me because you're the only one I know here." The whole class were looking at us now. This guy is so not getting away with this.

"Um, Jake, you can have my own seat. I will share with my sister." Scarlet offered him.

"Thanks Scarlet." My sister turned to face him.

"How did you know my name?"

"Your sister told me.Unfortunately,she didn't tell me hers." He said like it was nothing. She turned to look at me and I shrugged my shoulder.

"Miss Asinobi and Mister Evans settle down." We even forgot that the old man was still there. Scarlet sat with me while Jake took the other seat.

"Class Rep,what do you have next?"

"Practical Physics Sir."

"You still have about 15 minutes before the time,you can utilize that 15 minutes well by revising your previous practical. Again, Asinobis I will want you to help Jake with your notes and textbooks." "Yes sir." Scarlet replied.

"Be good students and enjoy the rest of your day."

"Thank you sir." They chorused as he left our class.

I didn't enjoy the rest of my day because I was busy trying to avoid Jake like he was a plague. Emphasis on the word "try" because I couldn't avoid him totally.
