Chapter 30:

When I woke up, I looked at the alarm clock on the little table next to Aiden's bed. It was almost noon. I slept in way too late. I didn't have to go to work today, so it wasn't the end of the world, except I didn't have my car with me and would need to find a ride home.

I put my feet on the floor, cringing at the thought of the dirt that was under them. This house really needed a deep cleaning. I didn't have my sandals or any socks to cover my feet with, so I was stuck walking barefoot through the house unless I put the knee-high boots back on. I was not going to even consider that as a possibility this morning.

I moved to the door to open it and turned the knob. Down the hall, Ezra's door was closed. Maybe he was still sleeping. I used the restroom and took one quick look at myself in the mirror. My hair still didn't look half bad. Anna was an artist when it came to making my hair look amazing.

Turning off the bathroom light, I began to walk down the stairs. The living room was empty. The house was almost silent except for a few small noises coming from the kitchen. I couldn't see who was in there from the stairs, so I decided to just go in to sweet talk whoever it was for a ride home.

Ezra was sitting at the kitchen table with a bowl of cereal in front of him. He didn't look up right away, which gave me the perfect opportunity to study him again. His hair was a messy tangle from his sleep, slightly out of place in a good way. His blue eyes were light and soft, no trace of the late-night we had last night on his face. Ezra looked refreshed and gorgeous, the opposite of how I was feeling. He was carefully reading the cartoons on the cereal box. He put a dark t-shirt back on at some point in the night, which was probably good thinking on his part. I would not be able to keep myself from attacking him if he was shirtless.

I shifted my feet and leaned against the doorway. He heard the movement and looked up at me quickly before looking back down at the cartoons on the box.

"Good morning." I said in a friendly tone.

"Hey." Ezra didn't look up. He was avoiding making eye contact with me. He was acting off like he didn't really want me there. He must have regretted what happened between us last night. My heart fell a bit when he didn't give me the attention that I was hoping he would give me. It's not like I expected him to jump up from the table and walk over to kiss me passionately, but a simple smile would have been a welcome sight.

I hesitantly moved to the table. After what happened here the other night, I didn't really want to be sitting here, but it was either the table or go back out to the living room to sit on the couch to wait for someone else to take me home. I sat on the chair closest to me and propped one leg under me so I was sitting on it. It was a habit I got into because of my height; it made me a little taller.

"It's quiet," I interrupted the silence that felt too long. The thick air between us was stifling. "Where is everyone else?"

"JD had to go to work and took Anna home. Mark went to meet up with some friends." He placed the spoon to his mouth, taking a bite full of the multicolored sugary cereal. He was still not even bothering to look at me.

"Where's Aiden?" I asked quietly.

At the mention of Aiden's name, Ezra slammed his spoon down in his bowl with a loud clang and finally decided to look at me. His eyes were hard as his jaw clenched. I was not sure exactly what I did to him, but he seemed angry with me this morning. I wanted to apologize to him and I didn't even know why he was upset.

"Your boyfriend wanted to wake you up and take you home." Ezra mouthed sarcastically. I saw him catch a glimpse of my borrowed outfit. His eyes moved down to my breasts, staring at the way my nipples stuck out a little under the thin white fabric. I crossed my arms over my chest, self-consciously to cover them. I forgot how seethrough this tank top was. He snorted before leaning back down and grabbed the spoon to take another bite of his cereal.

"Where is he?" I was not as comfortable with Ezra as I was when I first walked into the kitchen. In the daylight, it was like I was dealing with a completely different person.

"He said he was having lunch with his Mom today and needed to get going. I told him I would take you home if you wanted to go before he got back." Ezra said as his eyes slightly hardened. "Don't worry. Your boyfriend will be back soon."

"He's not my boyfriend." My tone shifted with my annoyance.

"Then why were fucking sleeping in his bed last night?" Ezra challenged me.

"He offered. Where else would I have slept? In your bed with you?" I let a little noise out as I laughed. His eyes hardened again and he bit the inside of his cheek. Ezra had to know how ridiculous that sounded.

"He wants you. I see the way he looks at you. He is always touching you and you just sit there asking for more."

I rolled my eyes. I didn't even know where this was coming from. "I will tell you one more time, Ezra, Aiden is just a friend. I have known him since I was little. There is nothing going on between us."

"Do you have feelings for him?" He asked, bending down to take another bite.

Ezra Miller was avoiding looking at my eyes. He didn't even deserve an answer to that question. I had told him all that I should have to tell him. I didn't owe Ezra Miller anything. We were not in a relationship. We fooled around once, well, twice, and then almost a third if I counted the time in his bed when he rubbed himself against me.  We fooled around two and a half times, my brain decided. It wasn't like we pledged our undying devotion to one another.

"For the last time, even though I don't know why I am explaining this to you, Aiden is like my brother. I love him like a brother. Nothing more. Don't ask me again." I should have probably left the loving him like a brother part out. I didn't need to feed into this game with him. Using the word love probably just added fuel to his irrational fire.

His eyes looked back up. The soft light blue was replaced with a stormy gray. They were like a mood ring, changing in seconds with every flicker of emotion. He stayed silent and turned his head to glare at me.

"Why are you so mad about Aiden?" I questioned, finally getting tired of his stubborn silence.

"I'm not mad. You just shouldn't let him touch you like that." He growled.

"Fine, maybe I'll let him touch me like you did last night." I turned my head in defiance. I wanted him to feel the sting.

Ezra stood up and slammed his hand down on the table. I jumped back reflexively. His eyes were almost black, dark and filled with rage as he gripped the table with white knuckles as he leaned down to me.

"You sound like a fucking slut." His voice was tainted with acid. "Go ahead and spread your legs for him. You already let some strange guy try to take you on a kitchen table. You might as well let Aiden have a turn. He can call Mark, and they can double team you."

Tears were forming in my eyes. His words should mean nothing to me; he was nothing to me. Ezra didn't know anything about me. I should have known better than to get involved with him. He was selfish and rude. I had only ever been with one other person before. He couldn't be more wrong about who I was.

"You are an asshole." I whispered as I wiped the tears away from my face.

"The truth hurts. Deal with it." He sat back down and leaned back in his chair, staring at me. He was so mean. I grabbed my phone and started to dial Aiden's number. I wanted him to come take me as far away from Ezra as I could get.

"What are you doing? Put your phone down." He barked at me.

"I'm calling to find someone to take me home." I said with the phone pressed to my ear.

"I told you I would take you home." Ezra snatched the phone out of my hand and hung it up. He tossed it on the table just out of my reach.

"I will find my own way. Aiden will come back to get me." I said, reaching for my phone and began to find his name on my contacts list again.

"I'm sure he will." Ezra leaned back in his chair in arrogance.

That was enough. Ezra may like tearing people down, but I was not going to keep taking it. Now it was my turn to be angry. I stood up and stomped over to his chair.  He was looking up at me with a cocky smirk on his face.  He wasn't the least bit intimidated by me.

"Ezra, you do not get to decide how I interact with my friends. What happened last night between us was a one-time thing and doesn't give you the right to tell me what to do. It was a terrible idea and it should have never happened." The words shot out of me. My anger was boiling over.

He stuck his fingertip in the top of the sweatpants I borrowed from Aiden and moved it slowly back and forth across my stomach.  My breath was caught in my throat as the goosebumps spread under his fingertips.

"You didn't think it was a terrible idea when you were moaning my name." His eyebrow raised up and a hint of a small smile pulled at the corner of his mouth.

I wanted to push him off the chair. Instead, I pulled his fingertip out and stepped away from him, frowning.

"Shut up and get dressed if you are going to take me home. I want to leave now." This conversation was over. Letting Ezra touch me was over.

"Do you want one of my t-shirts or do you like showing your nipples off to the world?" He looked back to my chest. I forgot about this damn tank top again. He was so infuriating.

"Yes, please. Do you have a pair of socks I can borrow too?" I wanted to yell back at him for his last comment, but I knew we would just be going around in circles again. I had to take the high road this time to end this or I would be in this kitchen all day arguing with him.

"Socks got it." He laughed, which released some of the tension he was holding in his body. His eyes began to lighten with his mood.

Ezra pushed himself up from the table and put his bowl in the sink. He looked back at my arms that were wrapped across my chest and shook his head laughing. I rolled my eyes at him as he walked out of the kitchen to go back up the stairs.

True to his word, he came back down a few minutes later with a dark t-shirt and socks. He also grabbed my pile of clothes and boots from Aiden's room while he was upstairs. I was glad I didn't have to go back up to get them. He handed me the new shirt first. He watched like he expected me to take off my shirt right there in the middle of the kitchen. I hesitated before deciding I would just wear it over the tank top. His face fell when he realized he wasn't going to get a free show.

The socks were next, they were way too big for my feet. I pulled them up as high as I could, which helped a little. It would be better than walking barefoot. He held my pile of clothes and smiled when he saw the string from my panties sticking out. He pulled them from the middle of the stack and dangled them between us. I bit my lip in embarrassment. He looked at me, then back at the panties, and then down to the pants I was wearing.

"Don't say a word." I warned him.

"These belong to me now." He said, shoving them into his pocket. He licked his soft lips and adjusted himself, knowing I was watching every movement. He wanted me to see it. I felt the tingling start to begin at the bottom of my stomach.

"Damnit, Riley," I scolded myself, he just called me a slut and now I wanted him to touch me again.

What did that say about me?

We had to leave now.

I would not be able to control myself if we stayed alone much longer. My resolve was fading. Ezra would win.

"Let's go." I said, walking past him to the door.
