Chapter 27:
The band finished their encore and the bar lights came up slowly. The concert was over too fast for me. I wanted this feeling with Ezra holding me to last all night. I shifted my weight and untangled myself from him. I made sure to check that my skirt was covering me when I pulled away. I was a little surprised when he didn't make a move to stop me.
Looking back up at his face, I could see the trance the concert had placed us both under began to fall away. Ezra looked as confused as I felt. He leaned his head back against the wall and clenched his jaw and wouldn't even look back down at me. His hands went down to zip up his jeans finally. My cheeks were still flushed from my orgasm. I could feel the heat pouring off of them as I wiped the sweat from my face. The moisture in my panties was a silent reminder of what just happened between us. I knew I should clean myself up before we tried to find our group.
"I need to get to a bathroom." I spoke loud enough for him to hear me.
His eyes still didn't look down at me, but he leaned up from the wall and started walking towards the side of the bar where the restrooms were. What the hell? Was he really going to be like this with me? I grabbed his arm and spun him around, catching him off guard.
"Is there something wrong?" My brows furrowed. He didn't get to touch me that way and then turn around and pretend like nothing had happened between us. It may not have been what either of us had planned, but it happened. He could at least be a decent human being and acknowledge me.
"You said you needed to go to the bathroom. I am walking you to the bathroom." He said, looking over the top of my head. Why wouldn't he even look at me? Was what just happened that disgusting to him?
"Did I do something wrong?" I was starting to feel ashamed of my erratic behavior. Did I push myself on him or imagine the way he shifted so he could feel me against him?
There was no way I imagined it.
Ezra wanted me in that moment as much as I wanted him.
"We're not going to talk about this. I'll take you to the bathroom and we can get the hell out of this place. It's too hot in here." He said flatly.
Ezra finally lowered his eyes to mine and I could see the dark storm clouds covering them. He was clearly in a mood.
Ezra's eyes went wide and I turned around to see he was staring at our group heading this way. We had more to discuss, but we would have to pretend like everything was fine. I wiped the tears that were forming in my eyes and tried to put on a fake smile.
"Wasn't that the best concert ever?" Anna screamed, running up to me. She wrapped her arms around me.
"It was pretty damn good." I told her with my face flushing as I looked back up at Ezra. He was watching every move I made to make sure I wouldn't give our secret away.
Aiden walked over to Ezra and reached out his hand to fist bump him. I slightly cringed at the thought of Ezra's hand still having me all over him.
"What happened, dude? The mosh pit started and you all disappeared." Aiden asked.
Ezra opened his mouth to speak and I quickly interjected. "Some guy grabbed my arm and pulled me in the pit. Ezra pulled me out."
JD looked at Ezra impressed and I felt a little guilty about making Ezra sound like a hero. It was true, Ezra did rescue me from getting murdered in the mosh pit, but he couldn't keep his hands off me. I was not going to tell JD the real story, and I just knew I couldn't chance Ezra screwing it up.
"I guess I'm not making you sleep in Mark's room." JD said to Ezra, smiling.
Mark raised an eyebrow, "Why not? I like to cuddle."
We were laughing now. The tension I was feeling started to fall away until I looked back over at Ezra. He didn't join in and still looked like he was angry at me.
"Are you coming back to the house?" Aiden asked me as he moved to my side and wrapped his arm around my shoulders. I wrapped my arm around his waist and laid my head on his shoulder. With Ezra's dark mood surrounding me, I was glad to have familiar Aiden back instead of the weird, uncomfortable Aiden from earlier tonight.
"I'm not sure. I didn't pack anything. I hadn't really planned on it."
"We can scrounge some things up for you." Aiden offered. "You have to come back to the house."
"Please." Anna joined in, begging me to come with them.
I looked over at Ezra and he shifted his eyes down to the floor. Mr. Miller was not going to give me a signal either way. If he wanted to keep playing games with me, then I was going to torture him tonight with my presence at the house.
"Sure." I said, smiling at Aiden. I did have tomorrow off and I didn't have to wake up early to dart off to work. It was probably a mistake to go, but I was not going to let Ezra get off that easy. Well, not twice in one night anyway.
On the way back to the house, Ezra hopped in the car with Mark and Aiden. I ended up riding back alone with JD and Anna. Anna spent the whole drive talking about how some guy pushed her down to the ground and the boys chased him. She talked about the moment her favorite song was played. She said she could feel how alive the bar was. When I asked her what her favorite song was, she mentioned the one that sent Ezra and me over the edge. A small smile covered my face and my cheeks burned with the memory of the dark-haired boy finishing against me. I think that was my new favorite song too.
The house lights were on when we pulled into the driveway. The rest of the guys beat us back. I was not sure how since JD went 80 MPH the whole way because he had to pee. JD raced up to the house to get inside and Anna and I slowly got out of the car to follow him. I was careful again to make sure my skirt didn't expose anything as I climbed out. Dressing like this was a lot of work. I missed my jeans and t-shirt.
"So, you got stuck with Ezra tonight. How'd that go?" Anna asked as we started walking to the door.
"Fine, I guess. I was glad he was there when I got pulled into the pit. It was actually pretty scary."
"Yeah, I know. It was a good thing he was watching you all night." Anna turned her head, looking at me. She was trying to sniff out what really happened. She sensed something was going on.
"What is that supposed to mean?" I asked defensively.
"I don't know. I just think you should be careful around him."
"Why?" I needed to know why she felt the need to warn me about him. Did Anna know things about him that I didn't?
"I don't know what it is, Ry, but he acts differently when you're around. He hasn't done anything weird, has he?" Anna was laying all her cards on the table.
"Anna, geez, no!" I laughed back at her like I was insulted. She shook her head no and rolled her eyes at me. She definitely didn't believe me.
We walked back up to the house in silence and went through the door into the living room. Mark and Aiden were sitting down with a bottle of beer in each of their hands.
"What took you so long?" Aiden asked, bringing the bottle up to his pink lips. His auburn hair was starting to fall down on his forehead. His usual spikes weighed down from the concert sweat.
I looked around the room for Ezra and didn't see him. I wanted to go upstairs to check his room, but I knew that would be too obvious. Anna was already catching on to the weird dynamic between us. I didn't need to feed the fire. I wondered if he would think I was clingy if I followed him around. My answer was yes, so I decided it was a bad idea.
"Want a drink?" Mark asked me.
"Yeah, sure." I was hoping I would not suddenly decide to drink myself to the point of blacking out tonight. Mark nodded and went into the kitchen to grab me a cup. He returned in a few minutes with a cup full of red liquid. I put my nose to the cup and noticed he went extremely heavy on the vodka. I took a sip anyway since he was nice enough to get it for me.
JD came down the stairs and started poking and grabbing at Anna. They would be headed back up pretty quickly to go to bed at this rate. They never fooled anyone with their "Oh, we're tired routine."
Aiden patted the cushion on the couch next to him and I sat down in my usual spot. His arm went around my shoulder like always and he pulled me into his side. He used to tell me it was easier for him to be on "Riley duty" if I couldn't sneak away from him. I would attempt to push him away and he would pull me in tighter. Sometimes it included tickling me and I would bite him. Things seemed so much less complicated back then.
Like clockwork, JD and Anna were tired and announced they were going to bed. I don't know why I even agreed to come back to the house when they spent all their time in the bedroom. It would have been nice to spend some time with them tonight since I didn't really even see them at the concert.
Mark, Aiden, and I watched TV for a bit longer. Aiden kept his arm around my shoulder while we watched some old scary movie. I was starting to get bored and my eyes were growing heavy. I dozed off without realizing it.
