Everything's pitch black, I can't see.

"Ryan?"

Something brushes past my hip. I spin around and reach out... OUCH... My hand smashes against something hard. I feel dizzy so I crouch down to the floor, I close my eyes and hold my head.

BANG!

What was that? I open my eyes. I can see, but it's still dark. There are three red figures standing around me, it was like I was looking through a thermal camera. They are all the same size standing in equal distance from me. I close my eyes hard and open them again and I go back to seeing nothing, I stay crouched.. where did the others go? Are they safe? Ryan?

BANG!

I close my eyes hard and open them again bring back the thermal images, the figures have moved closer. I need to move, I stand up still keeping my head low and slowly move to a tall cabinet, when I reach it I turn around and look for the figures. Two of them are crouching behind small objects and the other is.... standing right behind my cabinet. I drive roll out from behind the cabinet ready to face whatever is there, but just as I look up the lights come on, blinding. All I see is white. It takes a couple of seconds for my eyes to readjust. Ryan? Dr Wang? they are all sitting in the same arrangement but Dr Wang Dr sonic and Dr Megan are all staring into iPads.  

Dr Sonic stands, "That was excellent Ace, your ani blood has fueled your instincts, you have activated your animal instincts to hunt and expose."

All these 'surprises' are getting on my nerves..... I don't know how long I can hold out. I stare at the floor biting down on my tongue to keep me quiet. Dr Wang walks over to me and and shows me to electeopads. He sticks them on both temple soft spots and plugs them into his Ipad and sits back down. I clench both my fists and concentrate on breathing. A couple of minutes pass in complete silence, I open up my fists and lift my gaze from the floor. When I do I am instantly met with beautiful chocolate brown eyes.... Ryan..... His face is blank, he is just staring.  I break the connection and glance at Dr Megan, she stands and walks over to me and silently takes off the electropads

"I don't know how much more I can take Ry, I feel like i'm being tested or observed every second". 

Ryan takes both my hands and look me in the eyes.

"It's almost over, just hang on little bit longer". Ryan holds my gaze.

After the meeting with the DR's Ry took me outside and shown me the compounds gardens. We walked for about an hour and found a small green bench, shielded by the trees. I was exhausted.

"OK" I sigh. I stand up and stretch my legs, my life has change so much in so little time. I feeling Ry's hand on my back.

"Whats on your mind?"

I curl into his side and rest my head on his shoulder.

"So much has changed for me, I don't know my family, I'm not who I was and I don't know who i'm meant to be".

Ry puts his hands on my shoulders and hold me out in front of him. "Regardless of what happened in the past,  nothing can change who you are to me." He folds me back into his arms and holds me tight as tears fall down checks.

We stay that way until I stop crying, me absorbing his warmth, enclosed in his safety blanket. 

"What are we Ry?" I ask my voice soft.

His arms loosen around me as I turn to face him, my cheeks still red from crying. His eyes, soft, filled with understanding find mine as he contemplates the question.

"I don't know Ace, I know that without you I would be nothing right now, but I don't know what that means".

We let the answer linger in the air as if it were a side comment, one that was not needed to be said. It's funny how we know what each other is feeling, it's like a connection, a secret language that only we know. If that's not a sign then I don't know what is.

"Ace, you know how I feel, will..........."

"RYAN!!" "ACE!!" " You are needed in the control room immediately!"
