• Semi x Een •

---

My third Valentine's day as a student of Shiratorzawa started out hectic.

The first problem was that Semi was in post-detention, for having snuck into the gym to play volleyball, without permission from the office.

So, I had a cleanly packaged box of chocolates taken out from the freezer, waiting to be given to its owner.

"Wow. And you ask me why I hate Semi." Aimee whispers to me later during breakfast. While I sat down with my friends, Valentine's day bonanza was going strong as ever.

After I finished my breakfast, I decide to give my chocolates later during lunch, when Semi would actually be present during the meal. So, I rushed back to the Home Economics class, putting away the box and taking out my slightly bigger box of giri chocolates.

Each year, I made chocolate goodies to give to my closest friends and teachers. It wasn't a few times when I had been called a goody-two-shoes for that, but even the smile on Sayaka-sensei's face when I handed her a piece of packaged chocolate, was enough to make me happy.

She had wished me luck, and I had raced back to the cafeteria. When I approach our table, I see that Hichimiya had a bag of small chocolate balls, which she was throwing at Tendou - who was attempting to get them inside his mouth and failing miserably each time.

According to Tendou, Hichimiya - who was even more disastrous than me, at cooking - had given him store-bought chocolate which she had dipped in caramel and frozen overnight. Beside them, Aimee looks like she wants to vomit, and Kanzaki and Kaizawa were trying to ignore them while they finished their breakfast.

"Satori, here," I say, fishing through my bag and pulling out the package I had labelled with his name. Tendou blinks a couple times before he accepts it with a smile.

"You're giving them to me this year too?" He says, his voice trembling a little.

"Of course," I say, putting away the rest. "You're my friend, and we've been doing it for the past seven years. Didn't you expect me to?"

Tendou laughs a little as he opens the wrapper. He takes a bite out of it, giving me a thumbs up right afterwards.

"Handmade?"

"Yes, is it that bad?" I ask, sweatdropping. Tendou shakes his head, popping the remaining bit of chocolate inside Hichimiya's mouth. "I like it. But do you have something different for Eita-kun?"

The perspiration forming on my face intensifies while I pass out some chocolates for my friends at the table. "Yes, but... Why are you asking?"

Tendou scratches his head a little, looking at the remaining chocolate in his package before he takes another bite.

"Um, before I say this, please know that I love these chocolates you made, Een-chan. Thankyou!" Tendou says, his voice excited as he holds up the package while flailing his arms around.

"Een did what?"

The five of us turn around, to see Semi walking up to us, sipping a bottle of tea.

I am thanking the Lord that I had put the giri chocolates I had made inside my bag. I didn't want him to see them, but unfortunately, he had fully heard the conversation.

"You made chocolates?"

"E-Er. Giri chocolates. For old-time's sake, as a thank you." I say, realising there was no point in lying. Kanzaki takes a bit of chocolate from what I had given her and hands it to Semi. My soulmate squints at it for a while, the entire table beginning to rage when he shakes his head.

"I'm not in the mood for sweets, Shiina, so no thank you. Besides," He says, standing up with his now empty bottle of tea, "I don't like caramel."

"You assh-" Aimee stops halfway when she gets elbowed by Kanzaki. Semi blinks a little, confused, before he glances at me.

"Anyway, I have to head back. I'm missing homeroom because of detention too. I just came to see what you were up to." He has to say, ruffling my hair, before he then makes his way out.

With my hands trembling, I turn to face Tendou, who looked like he wanted to shoot himself.

"Well, you see, that was what I was going to say, Een-chan. I like caramel," He has to say, "But Eita-kun doesn't. So you might want to not give him one with caramel."

"Oh."

"Now you tell her?"

Aimee is shaking her head while I shoot her a nervous glance. She then takes a bite out of the chocolate I had offered to her, sighing.

"It's fine. We'll go before lunch and take out the ones with the caramel." She lets me know, and I give her a thankful smile.

"But that was really mean of him. I'd eat what Een made for me, if I was dating her. What kind of a soulmate is he?" Hichimiya crosses her hands over her chest in disapproval.

"Yes, but did you hear what he said? He said he came to see what Een was up to!" Kaizawa tries to lighten up the mood, taking the positive points out of the entire situation.

The bell rings before we can respond, and we hurry to put our trays away and head back in time, for class.

"Aww, you even had the caramel on point, Eenie." Sayaka-sensei has to add, while she watches me scraping off the pieces off from the top of the chocolates.

I was making a mess, half of the chocolates inside the box was gone now, and I wanted to cry.

To make matters worse, I had taken a bite out of the chocolate Mitsuki had handed me yesterday, and it melted right into my mouth. My chocolates were shit compared to hers.

Aimee eyes me as I pick up another bit of chocolate in distress. When I take out the small knife I had been using earlier, she snatches it away from me and puts it away.

"You know that I say Semi is a jerk, right?"

"Yeah, you do that quite often."

"Well," Aimee has to say, looking at the chocolates which were now rough around the edges, "He's not that kind of jerk. He's not going to say he doesn't want your chocolates, you know. As much as I hate to say this, I kinda trust him in this kind of situations."

I watch, startled, when she hands me the lid of the box.

"He's probably gonna be like 'dammit Een', while he chomps on them. Just because Shitsuki's chocolates are great doesn't mean it's going to affect his feelings for you." Aimee takes hold of my wrist, pointing at my mark for further exaggeration.

"Cuz last I checked, he's in love with you, not her. He's not going to judge you even though your chocolates aren't perfect. He loves you even though you aren't perfect, you know." Aimee completes her speech, while I put the lid back on.

Aimee was right, I really needed to stop comparing myself with other people. Of course, I knew I wasn't perfect, but as I had overheard Tendou saying to Hichimiya a few weeks ago; I was perfect for Semi, and vice versa.

"I'll give them to him after he's done with practice." I decide, and my friend gives a nod. We finish putting the packaging over it again, and by this time, Hichimiya pops inside, ready to drag us back to class.

I had popped by to Class 3-1 to give Hamada some chocolates, and I found out from him that Semi had already left to the gym.

So far, there was only one more packaging of giri chocolates for me to give out. It was for Hinata, who promised to pass by Shiratorizawa on his way home after his club activities.

According to Kaizawa, I was digging my own grave by giving chocolates to 'other male company besides Semi-san'. But I was sure Semi was not the type to overreact over something petty like that. In fact, I had seen him receiving chocolates while we were changing classes before gym, after all.

My hands are trembling as I hold the box in hand and walk towards the infamous volleyball gymnasium. As I watched the closed door with anxiety building up, I almost crush the box I have. I was that nervous.

Suddenly, the door flies open, and I see the rich colour of maroon popping into view.

"Ohh? Een-chan, it's you!" He sings, his gaze lowering to the box I have in hand. A smug smile plasters on his face, and he looks back at me. "Finally, you're here to give someone Valentine's day chocolates, eh?"

"Satori, don-"

"Oi, Satori, don't just stand there! Get the ba- Een?" Semi approaches the two of us, and raises an eyebrow as soon as he sees me. I hide the box behind me, and he raises his eyebrow even further when he notices me acting suspiciously. By then, Tendou had already left, making the situation even harder on me.

"Er. Um. H-Hi, Eita." I begin to mentally curse myself when Semi's gaze darts to his left.

"Een, if you're waiting for me, then wait for a few minutes. Practice is almost over."

Giving him a nod, I sigh in relief when he goes back inside the gym. For once, I was glad he liked to stick to rules and didn't ditch anything for anyone.

My mind is filling up with multiple thoughts about him hating my chocolate, when he interrupts my self-cursing a while later.

"Hey. Let's go." He says, now dressed in his activity uniform. We step outside, somehow finding our way to the courtyard. There were a few people there already, but Semi didn't seem to be too bothered by it, as he sits on one of the benches.

"So, what were you doing there looking like a goof-"

"I came to give you these, sheesh." I cry, shoving the box to his chest. Semi flinches a little, instinctively grabbing the box in his clutches before he takes a better look at it.

"Oh."

"Yeah. Um. I wasn't planning to give it to you that way, look what you've done." I mumble under my breath, standing up to face him.

"Is this what I think it is?"

Taking in a deep breath, I give him a nod.

"Yes. That's honmei chocolate I made for you. Happy Valentine's day. Do you want me to add the fluffy part?"

"Huh?" Semi raises an eyebrow in confusion, taking off the ribbon over the box. "Sure."

"Um. I made them for you not because you're my soulmate, my boyfriend, and my lover, but um. Because I love you."

I was sure my face is flushing red and Semi's was no less. He bites his bottom lip in embarrassment, turning to the box and tearing his gaze from me.

"You really are weird. But I love you too. And you didn't have to do this. You know I don't like sweets..."

"It's... It's Valentine's day, why would I not go through trouble to try and make something for you?"

As soon as he takes off the lid of the  box, a grin spreads on his face.

"Yup. You definitely made this." He has to say, picking up one of the bits which had a little too much of sprinkles.

"Shut up."

I watch the way he takes a bite out of it, and he stands up before he looks down at me.

"It's bitter."

"Well, it's obvious, since I used bitter chocolate-"

"That's not what I meant, you goof. I meant that it's not that sweet." He has to say, taking another bit of chocolate. "This is actually pretty good."

"Oh. Oh."

"Thanks, Een. Come here." He has to say, holding an arm out. With a satisfied sigh, I wrap my arms around him, enjoying the fresh Semi-ish smell that was always present whenever he finished a shower.

I was so glad he liked the chocolates, even if it wasn't that good.

"I love you, Eita." I whisper a little. Semi's embrace tightens a little, and I can feel him place a kiss on my forehead.

"I love you too, Een." He responds, leaning away. He pats my hair, and I smile, my face flushing at the contact.

My phone lets out a beeping noise, and I see that it is a text from Hinata, letting me know he was on his way. Semi reads over my shoulder, facepalming a little when he sees who it is from.

"You're giving that small kid chocolate too?"

"Don't be so mean to him, he's an adorable cutie. Besides, I'm just giving him giri chocolate. And he says he's nearby. Wanna come down with me?"

"Cheh." He clacks his tongue when I make my way towards the staircase. Semi follows me out to the gate, scratching the nape of his neck a little.

"Didn't you get a lot of chocolate this year?"

"Oh, that? I don't like sweets that much, so I'm gonna give the ones I got to you, later." He has to say, pausing a little as he munched on one of the almonds I had added to one of the chocolate bits I had made. "You can take all of them except the one you made. You can't have this."

"You're saying that as if I want to take it away from you."

Semi laughs a little in response, popping a bit of the caramel chocolate in my mouth.

"So this caramel chocolate is why you looked like you were having a seizure, this morning."

"You're really hard to please, you know," I mumble, sighing.

"You know, I thought you wouldn't give me chocolate."

"What? Why are you lying?"

"Okay, let me rephrase that. I knew you'd get me chocolates because that's the kind of person that you are," He has to say, pointing an accusing finger at me. "But when you didn't give me any even by the time the session ended, I thought maybe you only gave giri chocolates out this year. Or maybe that you were still mad at me."

"No, I'm not mad! I just had to take the caramel off from the chocolates." I let him know. A beeping noise makes us both look at my phone, before I glance at the gate.

"Is the kid here?"

"I guess so," I say, running up to the gate. I reach there right when I see the rich orange head of the boy.

"Fujiwara-senpai!" Hinata waves, before he almost loses his balance. Laughing, he holds the handles of his bike, coming to a halt at where I stood. His eyes go wide when it darts to behind me, and I turn around to see Semi standing and staring at us with his common pout on his face.

"Eita, can you not?"

"Fine, I'm at the porch." He has to say, taking a glance at his wrist. I want to facepalm at how babyish he was acting, but I see him grin a little before he turns back.

"Ah, you texted me, Senpai! What can I do for you?" Hinata wants to know, leaning his bike against the gate. I shake my head, reaching for the package of chocolates I had in my bag; the very last one. When I hand it to him, his eyes go wide.

And within a few seconds, his eyes become sparkly as he reaches for it.

"Wah! Is this Valentine's day chocolate for me?!" He cries, excitement bubbling while he blinked at the packaging. I give him a nod, chuckling a little at what a cutie he was.

"Gwah! Thank you so much! I promise to share them with Natsu!" He has to say, carefully putting it inside his schoolbag.

"Fujiawara-senpai, are you dating that person?" He wants to know, when he looks back up at me.

"Oh? Yes. I'm dating him." I say, giving a smile. Hinata's eyes go wide, before he asks another question.

"Aren't you scared of him?"

This makes me burst out laughing, and the orange-head furrows his eyebrows a little at me.

"His serves are very distressing," He goes on, "And Tanaka-senpai told me once that we had to be careful whenever the 'punk with the two-colored hair' played."

"Shoyo, you are so cute." I laugh, shaking my head. The smaller boy looks a little flustered before he too, breaks into a little smile.

"Thank you again for this, Senpai." He has to say, beaming. I give him a big nod in response, to which he waves. He then climbs on his bike, singing a loud goodbye before he speeds off.

Hinata is so adorable! I can't help gushing a little when I approach Semi, who is waiting for me at the porch. He takes a deep breath, blinking at me like he was 'so done with you', like Hichimiya has to say,

"Why are you smiling like a big idiot?"

"Please don't call me insults on Valentine's day." I beg, and he gives a nod. He then grabs my wrist, pulling me up the stairs.

"Okay, now that's over. You're coming with me."

And then, Semi kept me company until our dorm-mistress kicked him out when it was time for dinner.

Without a doubt, this was by far the best Valentine's day of my life.

And I had Semi to thank, for it.
