• Semi x Een •

---

"Holy shit. That was the first time I came out of an exam hall knowing I actually would pass it."

I can't help but giggle at what he said because it was the same for me. To be with Semi for the next four years meant that the two of us - who were both slightly below average in our studies - had to keep every single thing aside for the past two months.

In fact, Semi hadn't touched a volleyball for an entire week, and, according to him, he was suffering from withdrawal symptoms.

So, right after we finished our exam and met up at the gate, he took my hand and dragged me to the volleyball court we saw on our way in the bus to the building earlier today.

Semi had an irritated look on his face when he saw that there were people already playing, inside the court. So, when I sat outside on the grass, he sat beside me, and before I knew it, the two of us were lying on the grass, looking at the sky and making out shapes with the clouds.

Well. I was. Semi just made fun of me because he couldn't see the beauty of the clouds.

"I have a feeling I'll pass too. We tried hard, didn't we?"

"Yeah. I can't believe I actually remember formulas from two years ago."

We both laugh a little at his comment while we lay under the shade of a tree outside the court. I sit up a little, patting my lap to get a leaf that fell on it off from me.

"Een, what are you doing?" He wants to know, his glance on me, instead of on the people playing volley on the court.

"Nothing."

Semi's face is expressionless before he sits up, coming closer to me before he lies down again - this time, on my lap instead of on the grass.

"W-Wait, what are you d-doing?!" I cry, freezing in my spot.

"Didn't you want me to do this?" He asks, innocently looking up at me. I can notice his inner narcissism blaring out even more than before, and he has a smirk on his face when he sees how flustered I am.

"Well fine, but stop looking at my face," I beg, cupping his face and moving it towards the court instead. But instead of listening to me, he grabs my wrists, looking up with a soft smile on his face.

"We're gonna get accepted, Een. Isn't that great?" He asks, pulling my arms towards him. This makes me bend down enough for our noses to brush against each other's, and Semi lifts his head a little, closing the gap between our faces.

Three months and my mind still goes blank whenever Semi kissed me. And he was such a good kisser at that too, my head going literally numb each time.

"You're having that look again, Een. This is public, control yourself." Semi hisses, the smirk on his face widening when I shake my head quickly in embarrassment.

He still enjoyed making fun of me.

"Stop looking up like that. I look bad from this angle." I mumble, putting a hand over his face. Instead of responding, he pinches my palm, making me retrieve my hand quickly.

"We've done enough things together for me to know the way you look, Een. So you can quit being self-conscious. You have a nice face."

I wasn't sure what came over my head, when, in embarrassment, I put my hands over his face again. Semi would be awfully blunt one second, but he also enjoyed saying things like that not just because I was a romantic person, but because he liked to see me when I was flustered.

"Hey, quit doing that." He says, pulling my hands off from his face and laughing. "You know. I wanted to say sorry. For what I did."

My eyes widen when he brings it up again, and I shake my head. "No, it's my fault."

"It isn't, really. Thanks for agreeing to go to the school of my choice, even though you wanted to go somewhere else." Semi has to say, closing his eyes. He puts his hands over mine which I had been resting on his abdomen, while he sighs.

"Now that I think more about it, it's good you overslept. Because we both might have gotten accepted if you didn't."

"I guess, yeah."

"And the more I think of it, I'm glad. Because I really did set my goals low because I didn't think I could work enough for it."

"Will you be joining the volleyball team?" I ask, and he gives a nod.

"You should join the girl's volleyball club too."

"You know I can't play. I can't even receive to save my face. Besides, I'd rather sleep at home than play."

"See, this is the problem. And for crying out loud, you do need to start being responsible." He has to point out, opening his eyes to look at me. "You know that, right?"

I give him a nod, taking a hand from underneath his, and running my fingers through his hair.

"Yes. I stopped staying up late to read manga so that I can wake early."

Semi smiles a little at my response, closing his eyes again when I ruffle his hair.

"That's my girl."

The ball with which the boys playing volley inside the court comes flying and hits the metal netting beside us. Semi sends a glare at the boy who comes to get the ball back, hurrying to escape his look.

"You know, I can totally understand you being mad at me that day, but did you really have to not talk to me for so long?"

"Well... I guess I have a high temper. I didn't want you to see that, but well... Just understand that I didn't mean to, okay? I'm going to start trying to control it."

"Mmm," I mumble, glancing at the boys who now were staring at us. In my embarrassment, I take hold of Semi's wristwatch and glance at the time.

"Anyway, let's go back home. Our train is in half an hour, so we need to go there soon."

"I'm surprised you actually remembered to bring our tickets."

After I slap his arm at his remark, he stops laughing and runs a finger on my face.

"Why don't we take a train later? I mean, we're here in Tokyo, we might as well hang around for a while. Oh, why don't we go to my house and I'll bring my motorcycle and we can go somewhere you want?"

At that moment as he kept on suggesting places to go to, my face continued to become more and more sour.

Because, as much as I wanted to be with Semi for the rest of the day - heck, I wanted to be with him all the time - I had to head back to Miyagi as soon as possible. Tomorrow was Valentine's day, and I had to hurry and make chocolates for him if I wanted to give it to him since tomorrow was a weekday.

"Er, let's go home for today. I'm kinda tired after that two-hour exam..."

"Hah. You're using 'being tired' as an excuse to not go out on dates? You? Een, what are you hiding from me?"

I wasn't sure if Semi was doing it as a joke, but he takes a glance at his wrist, looking at his mark. I feel slightly offended as I watch him squint at it, then turning to look up at me again.

"You're still in love with me. So what gives?"

"You are so dense oh my god. And you call me the idiot." I say, standing up. Semi lifts his head up a little and stands up as well.

I didn't want to lie to him, but I wanted to keep my chocolates for him as a surprise. I thought it would be quite easy to do since Semi was dumb enough to not realise why Sayaka-sensei's task two days ago in Home Economics was to make chocolates.

Hichimiya says that Semi was the densest person she had ever come across, and for once, I couldn't say I didn't agree with her.

It takes me a lot of time to come up with something which wasn't too straightforward.

"I have to meet up with Aimee. I promised her I would, I have to help her with something."

Semi blinks a little, before his grip on my hand loosens.

"Oh. Okay then. Let's head back, we can come back some other day. Sheesh, Een, you could have just told me that from the start." He has to say. While I follow him, I can't stop myself from facepalming.

Semi is such an idiot!

"He's not just an idiot. He's a jerk, too." Aimee corrects me later that day.

With Sayaka-sensei's permission, the two of us were using the bowls from class to make chocolates for tomorrow. We weren't the only ones inside the class, some other girls were also there in other stations, all of them making various chocolate goodies on occasion of tomorrow.

After my third try, I had managed to make a batch of chocolates that didn't taste too bitter or made my mouth cry with how sweet they were. I wasn't a huge fan of chocolate, so I had gotten Aimee to taste it a little before she said it tasted perfectly fine.

It was when I was putting on toppings, that Aimee finally lost her head.

"What the hell are you doing? Showing your support to the gay pride? There are more toppings on that chocolate!" She yells when she sees my small chocolates covered in caramel bits and other coloured candies.

"Oh."

"Oh? You're just gonna say 'Oh'? Een, what the fuck." Aimee hisses, facepalming. I glance at what she had worked on, her small cupcakes each had a single little heart drawn with whipping cream.

And when I saw that, I started to sweat.

"You think he wouldn't like it?" I ask, attacking the overloaded colourful decoratives on the chocolates.

"Ah, Een-senpai?" A familiar voice has to say. It makes me irritated enough to break the bit of chocolate I have in half.

She could not have picked out a worse timing to appear.

"Hi, Sawa-chan. I didn't notice you were here."

Which was actually a lie, I did notice her. And I was dreading her approaching me, which she actually did.

"You're making chocolates for Semi-senpai?" She wants to know, taking a seat in front of my counter.

"Yes, of course." I smile, putting my mess inside the drawer. She reaches for her bag and pulls out a small rectangle wrapped in blue wrapping paper.

"Here, you can have some that I made, Senpai." She smiles, offering it to me. Things like this made it impossible for me to hate her, even though Hichimiya had confessed to hating her guts.

"Aw, thank you. What about you, Sawa-chan?"

"Well, I'm giving some to my Senpais, and I'll be giving some to Semi-senpai as well if you don't mind."

"Oh, well it's oka-"

"Are you serious?"

The two of us turn to face Aimee, who interrupts us while placing her box of cupcakes down on the counter with a loud slam.

"I'm not saying anything, and you know Een won't either. So you're just going to go and keep on talking? You seriously are shamele-"

"U-Uh, Sawa-chan, I think you should leave. And good luck with your chocolates!" I interrupt the girl who was staring at my best friend with widened eyes. I couldn't say I blamed her when she gives a small nod and leaves the classroom at that.

"Aimee, you need to control. Besides, Semi is actually popular with the student body so Mitsuki isn't the only one who's going to give him chocolates, besides me."

"Yeah but she still pisses me off."

I could see that there was no point in arguing with her any further. It was almost 8 pm, and we needed to clean up and hurry back to dinner if we didn't want Semi finding out what we were up to.

But when I went to dinner, I saw that I didn't have to worry.

"Aimee is fine, right? Did she bother you too much?"

And that was all he said to me on that topic before the entire table started a discussion about the which kind of volleyballs were proved to be better health-wise.

Which might also be the reason I was a nervous wreck as I got on my bed to sleep.

I hoped Semi would like my chocolates because I really did try my best for him.
