• Semi x Een •

In the 7 months or so during which I'd known him, I had never seen Semi be so excited over anything besides volleyball.
But being accepted to college makes an entirely different look appear on Semi's face. He had almost crushed his phone into little pieces, he was that hyped.
"Why are you getting so worked up?" I laugh, following him outside. He has his phone pressed against his ear, so far having called Tendou who was bringing Hichimiya and Kaizawa downstairs.
"Because," He has to say, dialling - to my shock - Aimee's number. "I studied for months for this, Een. I studied. I studied. Me -. Oh, Miyuzawa. Come outside, we're going for ice cream."
"What the actual fuck?" Aimee responds over the receiver. "I ain't going anywhere with y-"
"Aimee, Eita is giving us a treat because the two of us got accepted to college," I interrupt. "Can you come down to join us?"
"Oh... Fine. I'll join you, Een."
When she hangs up the phone, Semi looks at me with an annoyed expression on his face.
"She does realise that you asked to join us, not just you, right?"
"Aimee is queen." I whisper.
"I got a letter yesterday, you know. It said I was on the wait-list. Now see this," He shows up his smartphone, and I see that it was an email, opened to a letter. "That's kinda weird they moved me up the list after a day, but I'm not complaining."
"I'm really proud of you," I say, patting his hair. He blinks a little, confused as to why on Earth I would do that, and he shakes his head.
"Stop."
"Fine."
Fifteen minutes later, we had collected ourselves a group consisting of myself, Semi, Tendou, Reon, Aimee, Hichimiya and Kaizawa. Kanzaki was out with her soulmate, and we make our way to the nearest ice-cream parlour.
"That's kinda cool. Now you guys can live together." Tendou has to say, nudging Semi's elbow.
"Yeah, they're gonna live together and Shit-ta is going to hurt her more since they'll be around each other more."
"I will not! And what's with that stupid nickname?" Semi yells, irritated while he marches inside the parlour. I giggle, following my friends inside, and we take seats.
"Oh? Semi-senpai!" A voice calls, and we turn to the counter, where Mitsuki stands, waving her hands and motioning for us to come up to her.
"I swear, she's everywhere." I hear Aimee mumble, when Semi and I stand up and go to the counter to place our orders.
"Een-senpai! Hello!"
"You work here?" Semi wants to know, making the black-haired girl nod and raise a hand.
"Only on weekends, but yes!"
"That's nice. Will you take our orders?" My soulmate wants to know, tapping the wooden counter.
"Sure!" She blinks her big blue eyes, pointing to the board over us. When we glance up, there is a big list, and I try to recall the flavours our friends had asked us to bring, a while ago.
"You're with friends, right? Is it an occasion?"
"Hmm, yeah." Semi has to say, pointing to the board. "Satori asked for that, right, Een?"
"Hmm. And so did Reon. Aimee and I want vanilla."
"Is it a good occasion? Did something good happen?" The girl wants to know. Semi gives another nod, before he turns to me again.
"You realise that's a very boring flavor, right? Vanilla."
"Shut up."
When we turn back to face Mitsuki, we see that she is blinking at us in confusion.
"Are you going to take our orders?" Semi wants to know. This makes her snap out of her trance, and she picks up a small notebook from behind the counter.
"Yes. What can I get for you?"
After taking our orders, I give the girl a wave, and the two of us head back to our group. A few minutes later, Mitsuki comes up with a tray of ice cream cups, placing the respective orders beside each of us.
"Have a nice time!" She sings, before she walks away.
"She pisses me off, but I can't really hate her. She actually leaves you both alone, and that's kinda nice of her not to meddle." Hichimiya has to say, while she scoops up some of her ice cream and offers it to Tendou. The middle blocker nods, tasting the ice cream and giving a thumbs up.
Beside me, Aimee gives me a little nudge and I lean a little closer to hear what she had to say.
"I overheard the entire thing. I'm going to have to give him some points for totally ignoring her." She whispers into my ear, and I elbow her a little, afraid that my soulmate would have overheard her.
"Een, what are you going to major in?" Reon asks.
"She's gonna do English stuff," Semi answers before me, taking a bite out of his ice cream.
"What about you, Semi-san?" Kaizawa wants to know, and he shrugs a little.
"I'm guessing math stuff. I don't really know."
"Should I be worried that he calls college modules as 'stuff'?" Aimee has to say, making the entire group laugh in response.
Aimee had gotten accepted to her first choice of college, while Reon and Kaizawa got accepted to their second choice schools. Hichimiya and Tendou intended to take a gap year, as they were unsure if they wanted to do further studies or not.
Talking about college was making me a little sad, knowing that at this day next year, we all would probably in so many different places, that we wouldn't be able to meet up at all.
In fact, I am a little teary-eyed when we reach back to school and Semi and I sit down on the porch.
"Wow. It's starting to sink in, slowly... This is great."
"Yeah..."
"Also, Een, if something is bothering you, you should tell me."
I tilt my head in confusion, and he sighs.
"I'm talking about Mitsuki."
"Oh... It's fine, don't worry." I say, shaking my head. I didn't hate her, after all, and I didn't want him to have the wrong idea.
"I mean. I know she's bothering you but you're not going to tell me. Miyuzawa's the only one who'd tell me stuff like that."
"Dammit. And like she said, you should start calling her Aimee."
"Oh yeah."
My phone lets out a ring, and I take it out to see that it is my little brother, calling me. Since Semi was right beside me, I put the call over the speaker, before I pick up the phone.
"Takeru?" I ask, glancing at Semi, who has his gaze set on the gate.
"Een."
"Takeru, what's wrong?"
"Een," I hear my brother take a deep inhale before he resumes, "I ran away from home."
I almost drop my phone, and Semi, who notices this, grabs hold of my wrist.
"Een, are you okay?"
"Takeru. Why did you do that?" I try to stay as calm as possible, and Semi blinks at me, confused.
"Fujiwara? You know that running away from home is never the answer-"
"I told dad that I'm gay, and then.... You know the drill. He asked me to leave the house."
