❥ Soulmate AU; Where your soulmate gets a mark on his skin, the moment you fall in love with him.

Soulmates.
All around me, people are extending their wrists out, comparing the marks on their skin.
It was satisfying, the way our Sensei allowed us to freely walk around during homeroom.
Even he understood what the Shiratorizawa 3rd years were up to.
But it seemed that even the most patient person would have a limit as well.
"Alright then. Let me take the attendance before we go on." He had called out. The ruckus dies down, and everyone goes back to their seats.
The mark on my skin was beautiful.
It looked as if it was written in bright red ink, and yet, I couldn't erase it.
Two short parallel lines, and two crosses vertically beside them.
That was my mark, and when my soulmate falls in love with me, an additional mark would appear, finally filling my half-complete mark.
What the additional mark would look like, that was a mystery, even to me.
"Een, your mark is gorgeous." Hichimiya likes to comment every once in awhile. It was flattering because I believed so too, even if I didn't want to brag about it. In fact, Aimee, another close friend of mine, had an even prettier one, in the shape of three hearts in cursive.
Her soulmate would have it rough.
"I FOUND HER!" A loud scream echoes through the closed doors of the classroom, making Kabuto-sensei look up from his file.
"Hamada-kun, do you need a bathroom pass?"
"Er, no."
Giggles erupt throughout the classroom, silencing after a few seconds. Class 3-2 was perhaps the best thing that ever happened to me.
I still had a whole year left to find my soulmate.
Is what I thought, when in fact, I had no idea how it all worked.
•••
According to Hichimiya, only two people in the entire world would have the same marks on their left wrist.
And if you found who it was, then that person was your soulmate.
"I don't understand why it appears only after we turn 18." I can't help but think out loud. Aimee giggles, while she packs her stationary. The neat order of her arranging them drove me and Hichimiya insane, and luckily, we weren't the only ones.
"Daisuke and I have very similar patterns!" Aimee lets us know. Even now, students are pulling at each other's hands, disappointed aura clouding their faces when they look back at their own patterns.
Finding your soulmate was easier said than done.
"FUJIWARAAAAAAAAAAA-SAN!"
The loud screeching of a familiar annoyance makes everyone look back to where Tendou Satori was shoving all his books in his bag in a haste. Aimee would cringe if she saw the inside of his bag, that I knew for sure.
"Fujiwara-san!!!!!" He yells my last name again, and I squint my eyes at him. He was always the type to make a fuss over everything, he was eccentric, but beyond all that was a caring person who loved volleyball more than anything in the world.
Too bad we had to dig really deep to reach that part of him.
So when he runs up to me with a packed book bag and grabs my wrist, I begin to freak out.
"Tendou-kun!"
"Shh, you're Eita-kun's soulmate, so you can drop the suffixes!" He strings the words together, taking my hand and pulling me up to my feet.
"Een, wait-" I only heard half of Aimee's protest, before Tendou pulls me out to the hallway.
And when we do, leaning against the classroom 3-1 door is a tall blonde boy who is scowling. His school bag hangs over his shoulders, as he glares at the maroon head dragging me.
"GUYS! SOULMATE ALERT!" Tendou yells. The students that had begun to scatter out of the classes to go to clubs or their homes begin huddle around us instead. I can see the blond boy break into a nervous sweat, and yet, his eyebrows are furrowed. His scowl deepens when Tendou takes hold of his left hand, pressing it beside mine.
"Oh my gosh! You guys are soulmates!"
"Wow, Semi-san has the same mark as you do!"
"Aw dang, mine is just one cross away from his!"
"Hey, Een and I have the same kinda lines!"
"I wonder how it'll look like when the pattern is done..."
"Meh. Mine is prettier!"
I can feel my face heating up at being the centre of attention... or at least, half of it. I was not used to situations like this, and I am thankful when it is 'Semi' himself, that breaks my anxiety.
"Okay guys, you can go now." He says as he raises his arms up, clearly not fazed by what had happened. It seemed to me that he somewhat had a good reputation amongst the students; most of them listened to him went back to their own business, walking away.
"Eita-kun. Look, you found her."
"I wonder." A mumble escapes from his mouth. He holds his hand towards me, tilting his head. Unsure of how to react, I can only look back at him. It is only then, that I notice his unusually dyed hair. I find myself smiling, further making Semi's scowl grow.
"What's so funny?" He wants to know. "Show me your hand."
I want to punch myself for that; he had been holding his hand out to see my mark, of course! Sighing, I hold my hand up and we both examine the patterns.
"The lines match. Hmm, so does the crosses. So there really won't be anyone who has the same pattern?" Semi wants to know, unamused. He pats his blazer's sleeve back down, hiding the mark with a little mumble.
"Well, that's how it goes," Tendou says. I can feel my heart race at the fact that I had found my soulmate so early on... And yet, the bored expression on this mentioned soulmate makes my mood very stingy, rather than excited.
"My name is Fujiwara Een. Er, you can call me Een."
"Semi Eita. So... Do we have to exchange contacts?"
"Don't be such a killjoy, Eita-kun!" Tendou crosses his hands over his chest in disappointment.
And all the while where we exchanged our contact numbers, all I can wish for is to just run away.
Was this really how soulmates were supposed to be? I can only wonder, while the maroon head waves and the two leave to the volleyball club.
