• Semi x Een •

---

The second day of moving back to Tokyo, I opened the door at 8 am to find Semi and his parents waiting outside.

I almost coughed up a lung, and Mom had run up to the door, letting me know she had invited the family for breakfast.

Semi had given me a smirk before he had followed my mom. I remember being too shocked to move, until Mom had to call me again.

Apparently, our parents had met behind our backs, and Mom had let me know, later, that even Dad had no problems with Semi... Although he did mention a slight dissatisfaction towards his dual coloured hair, until I had squinted my eyes at him. He was still unconvinced about Takeru, and he expressed even more distress when I told him that Semi and I had intended on living together, along with my brother.

"I don't think either of that is a good idea. But you are a legal adult now so I don't care."

"Dad, you just need some time to think things through." I had let him know. "I'm sure you'll accept him."

Dad didn't look like he would, but he had shrugged it off, and two days later, gone off on his business trip.

My mom seemed even more excited than Semi and I were, about us moving in together. In fact, I had to force her to sit back and leave us alone, when she asked us if she could follow us to the mall.

I wasn't sure if that was such a good idea... because I had totally forgotten that Semi was a nutcase when it came to shopping.

"Stop buying things you don't need, for fuck's sake." He had been hissing the entire day, the second I reach for something.

We had taken over five hours of roaming around before we found even a few of the basic things Mom had made a list of. The few days following it had been hectic. While I looked up and contacted potential apartments that Semi had been circling on various newspaper ads, my soulmate had been out with Takeru, on the search for decent jobs.

In the end, we found an apartment at the end of the city that was quite close to Honan - Takeru's high school - but at least seventy-five blocks away from our college.

"Guess we'll have to use my motorbike then." He had said with a smug smile.

By mid-April, we were able to finish setting up our apartment.

Our moms had driven off after dropping us at front of the building, and we step outside with our bags and bags, and more bags.

There is a coffee shop on the ground floor, so after we enter the apartment, Semi offers to buy the three of us some coffee.

"I actually want to take a shower instead. Is that okay?" Takeru says. Semi gives him a shrug, and we put away our bags before the two of us go downstairs.

"You think he's feeling okay?" I ask. Semi shrugs again, closing the door and climbing down the staircase.

"I can't tell. But I think he will be okay. He did tell me earlier that he was fine with it."

My soulmate and I enter the coffee shop, ordering some drinks to take away before we sit on the chairs in front of the counter. The woman who takes the jar of coffee powder looks like she is in her mid-thirties, with brown hair tied up into a ponytail. Semi's gaze is on the coffee which is dripping slowly, until the woman starts to talk.

"Hello, I just saw you two carrying some bags. Are you moving into this building?"

"Yeah. Third floor."

"Really? I live on the floor below yours, then. Oh," The woman shakes her head when Semi places some coins on the counter. "It's fine. First day so it's a treat."

"Thanks." He responds, taking the cup of coffee with the milk cream and passing it to me. He raises an eyebrow in an I-Am-Judging-You manner, before he glances back at the woman.

"I noticed something, uh.. Yamato-san." He pauses when he glances at the nametag on her blouse. "You have the cafe' closed during rush hours. Is there a reason?"

"Oh yes. That's when my child finishes school. I go every day to pick him up."

"Doesn't that affect business? I mean, two whole hours, especially that time of the day when school and work usually ends, and everyone head back home. I mean, I for one, would pick up something to eat before I head home."

Yamato-san smiles a little, offering me a cup of chocolate sprinkles. I take some, pouring it over my cup while I watch her respond.

"I'm a single mother taking care of an autistic child. I don't have a good reputation, so all I can do is work for these hours and pass by."

"Oh... I'm sorry." Semi apologises, before taking our leaves. I give her a little smile, and the two of us walk out of the cafe'.

"You are manipulative as fuck. What are your intentions?"

"I didn't think you'd talk like that to me, but I see no lie." Semi snickers, taking a sip of his coffee. He takes three steps at a time, reaching the top of the staircase long before I do.

"We could work there."

"We... what?"

"Two birds with one stone. Oh, Takeru, here you go." Semi has to say, handing my brother a cup. "Come on, Een. let's unpack."

Takeru has the same kind of judging expression like Semi had, when he sees my cappuccino with a little too much of cream.

I didn't realise how hard it would actually be, to live with those two who were, as Semi's mom had stated, people who shared the same kind of personalities.

I found out what Semi had meant by killing two birds with one stone.

Three days after we moved in, the two of us were asked to take care of the shop during rush hours.

It was a 2-hour shift, with a decent pay.

Semi has an evil smile on his face when he brings me the news, along with a cup of hot chocolate.

"Is it fine with you? I mean, we do need jobs and I thought this will be the best way without affecting our studies."

"You're evil, you realise this?"

"No." he responds, slipping onto the sofa and wrapping an arm around my shoulder. He chuckles a little when he sees my smile. "Remember us being disasters  during Home Economics? We'll make messes again."

"Yes, but all the messes we did were fun. And we did come a long way."

"We did, yes." Semi has to say, a lopsided smile on his face - which was also my favourite one on him as well. "And Een. Your existence is a mess, too."

"I swear to God, Eita." I laugh, when he leans a little closer to me. Suddenly feeling slightly nervous, I look away a little.

As if on cue, the door opens, Takeru stepping inside with his running shoes in hand.

"Fuck," I hear Semi say, when he moves away a little. My face feels like it is on fire, when Takeru puts his shoes in the cabinet and hurries back to his room without a word.

A few minutes after he closes the door, we find it opening, Takeru's head peeking out before he spoke.

"Don't mind me. Go on." He has to say, before he closes the door shut again.

"Looks like we need a lock or something." Semi has to say, the two of us laughing afterwards. College was starting tomorrow, and even though I missed Hichimiya and everyone else dearly, I couldn't wait to start again.

And this time Semi was with me from the start, so nothing could go wrong. Hopefully.
