001
The days used to go by like they were nothing for Megan Jackson. But ever since Peter Parker started working at the run-down Sadie's diner, almost every moment wasn't as dull.
It was already bad enough that he was in all of her classes, showing off how much of a smart ass he was. He was always one step ahead of her, and it constantly bothered her.
Customers that showed up at the diner loved her, she was full of jokes and always put on a smile. Eventually, it started to get old, once again, until Peter Parker came along.
Peter, just like every other teenager, was in need of extra cash. Aunt May begged him to find a job and for some reason, he thought Sadie's was the greatest idea. He showed off constantly that he had a "huge internship" with THE Tony Stark, but that wasn't the case at all. Megan dreaded working with him during the school week, considering he was the worst worker of all time.
"Peter! You're 2 hours late!" Megan yelled as Peter rushed into the diner.
"Sorry!" Peter replied, quickly running into the back room, changing into his uniform. He got caught up in being the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, but that was a secret.
She handed him a notepad and a pen, practically shoving the items in his hands. "By the way, your nerd friend is at table 4. Also known as one of your tables."
He walked away without a word, which kind of ticked her off. "Um, you're welcome!"
Working at the diner wasn't technically the greatest for Megan, but it was better than nothing. It was what she needed to save up for a car, and she definitely knew her parents weren't willing to help her out.
A couple hours into her shift, Michelle (also known as MJ), practically Megan's only real friend, showed up. Michelle made her way towards the counter, taking a seat. "Sup."
"I assume the usual?" Megan asked her.
She shook her head no. "I'm trying to cut off dairy, apparently it's bad for your skin. I'll just have an order of fries."
"You sure this isn't a protest for animals?" Michelle laughed at her question, maybe a little too much. "Nah, I've just been breaking out lately."
"Whatever you say, MJ." Megan went to the kitchen, giving her order to Johnny, the cook. Johnny never spoke a word, all he did was nod or shake his head in response. She didn't bother asking why, but thank god he had a name tag so she knew his name.
A few minutes later, she returned with a basket piled with fries. Michelle quickly started eating, not even caring to use ketchup.
"How's working with Parker?" Michelle asked.
All Megan could do was groan, she knew that her only friend would know the answer. "A living nightmare. He's always late, and he just spends his time with his little nerd friend."
"Ned's cool!" She protested. "Sometimes."
"I don't know about that. Who plays with legos at this age?" She was right though, no teenager does.
"Oh, I forgot to tell you. Peter quit all his after school activities, including the decathlon! The week before nationals!" Megan wished he would've quit his job, not some silly extra curricular's.
Megan raised an eyebrow. "Sounds like you're stalking him."
"Ha! You wish. I'm just an observant person, that's all."
A new customer entered, and Megan knew Peter wasn't going to do anything. "I gotta get back to work, don't choke."
"No promises." Michelle said, her mouth full of fries.
The customer was none other than Mr. Harrington, the academic decathlon coach. Most students didn't like him, but to Megan he was a pretty cool teacher, even though she refuses to join the decathlon team.
"I take that you're here to see Peter?"
"Surprisingly, no. He quit decathlon, if you didn't know." Mr. Harrington said. "Although, maybe I should sit at one of his tables, try to convince him to rejoin."
Megan appreciated what he said, she worked harder more than anybody else, and rarely got recognized for it. "Interesting to hear. I think he would love to take your order though. Right, Peter?"
Peter wasn't paying attention, he was too focused on Ned and his legos. "Peter!"
"You almost made me drop- Mr. Harrington?"
"Not doing your job, I see." He chuckled.
"I can, uh, take your order at one of these lovely booths." Peter said, practically scared shitless.
"No, no. I'll just have Megan take my order. What's the best thing on the menu?"
"Nothing." She replied.
He suppressed an awkward laugh, ignoring her comment. "Uh, I'll just have a cheeseburger then. Oh, and a coke."
"Gotcha. Also, Michelle is at the counter."
"Hey, Mr. H!" Michelle called out, waving to him.
"Have you been studying for the decathlon?" Mr. Harrington asked.
Her real answer was no, she didn't really need to study, but she lied for the sake of her teacher. "Totally!" He knew she was lying though.

The time had reached 8 pm, meaning her shift finally was over. "Hey, thanks for not doing your job."
Peter rolled his eyes. "You say that everyday."
"And I will continue to do so." Megan spoke confidently. She had no reason to fear him, but the tension was too real.
"It's not like people come here anyway." He said, which was absolutely not true.
"Wrong, Parker. There was like at least 20 people here today! And who waited for them like an employee should? Me!" He had only been working there for a few weeks, and Megan doubted he'd ever learn.
"You know I have the Stark-"
"Yeah, yeah. I'm Peter, I work for Tony Stark who doesn't even know I exist!" Megan mocked.
"I've met him!" Peter lied. Megan didn't know he was Spider-Man, so he had no choice but to lie. "A couple times."
"Yeah, and Ryan Gosling wants to marry me!"
"Haha, very funny. I have to go home and do homework. Since I'm at the top of our class, it has to remain that way." He smirked, leaving the diner.
Megan left minutes later, having no choice but to walk home, again. It wasn't that long of a walk, only 10 minutes or so, but she still had homework left to do herself.
Later that night at around 11 pm, right before Megan was getting ready to go to sleep, she could spot Spider-Man swinging around her neighborhood. She laughed a little, thinking there was no way Peter could be friends with such a cool guy, let alone even meet him.
