Sent of rain
(Play rain)
"Huh," Death whispered and looked up, as they walked down the brown trail the rain had gotten heavier and basically poured on them. Geno shivered and held onto Death's arm tightly, trying to get some warmth.
Death frowned and looked around for a place for them to stay out of the rain, while he did he lifted his wing our from his back and stretched it over Geno's head.
"Whoa," Geno gasped in awe, the rain had stopped pouring on him, keeping him warm he looked up to Death's wing. It's was a grey-ish black color, the wing was no longer than him and the feathers were all ruffled up due to the rain pouring down on it.
"There," Death smiled and pointed into the darkness, Geno took his arm and let him lead.
A few seconds later the rain stopped pouring in them, Death brought his wing back down and sat on the ground.
Geno looked up and saw the leafs of the tree covering them from the rain. Geno sat down next to death as well since the ground was dry and warm.
"Here," Death said and started taking off his cloke and gave it to Geno, "sorry for taking you out in the rain, it's probably really cold."
Geno wrapped the cloke around him feeling immediate warmth, he shivered a bit and pulled the hood over his head.
"its fine, it was getting stuffy in the mountain anyway."
"Right?" Death chuckled and crossed his legs, he leaned back and looked up at the trees, "it was getting claustrophobic in the tower too, I don't think I would've been able to last another day in there."
"What's the longest you've stayed in there?" Geno asked, he scooted back to the tree so the water that was going towards him wouldn't get him wet.
"Longer than I remember, but that's only when we were first building the castle and village in there," Death shrugged and stretched, "we used to live out in the open when things were a bit quiet with us, but then the war started and now we're here..."
Geno looked forward and brought his knees closer to his chest, "I'm sorry."
Death looked over and gave Geno a confusing look, "there's no need to be sorry, it's not like you started the war."
"Yeah but..." Geno sighed, "It feels like it tho, if I had just stopped them..."
Death frowned and looked to his hands before rubbing the back of his neck, "ya know...if it's really bothering you, you can tell me?"
Death only shrugged before looking back at Geno, "have you told anyone about that before?"
Geno shook his head and raised an eyebrow, he had an bored expression as he laid his chin on his hand, "I've tried, but every time I do they would either ignore me or over crowd me when I talk. So I didn't see why I should anymore."
"I guess you're more of a private talk kind of guy?" Death yawned, Geno nodded and laid his back against the tree.
"Well we have privacy here, you can tell me of you want."
Geno nodded but didn't speak for couple of seconds, him and Death stayed sitting down in silence, observing the rain fall to the ground and form puddles of water.
"If I tell you, you have to promise this will only be between me and you. No one else."
Death nodded and waited.
"If I'm honest, I'm not sure what attacked us," Geno whispered, Death had to lean a bit towards him to hear,
"It was dark and....I'm not even sure what happened before. Everything is hard to remember now, I don't even know how I was back then."
"How did you and your friends run into them?" Death asked shyly, Geno looked at ground but looked up again.
"We were talking in the forest and not long after we heard a noise.......
(Stop rain)
"What was that?" Asriel squeaked, a loud sound of a branch breaking echoed through out the forest. Geno immediately took papyrus's hand and looked over to a small bush and rock.
"Papyrus," Geno whispered and pointed a few feet in front of him, "go hide over there okay, and keep quiet."
Papyrus nodded and tip toed away, Chara looked to Geno and slowly stepped back to Asriel and him. All three of them stayed still, quietly listening for any other sounds.
A loud creak made them all jump, Chara immediately shoved their hands into their pocket, gripping the knife but they didn't pull it out. Geno and Asriel grabbed each other's hands and backed up away from the noise.
"What was that!?" Chara whispered, Geno hushed them and looked into the darkness, the only source of light was the moon, but the trees covered to sky completely.
"I don't know," Geno shivered, he looked back at the spot where papyrus was hiding and saw he was still there. While he did so, Chara slowly walked forward.
"Hello? Are you a vampire!?" Chara called out, Asriel gasped and let go of Geno's hand and gripped Chara's arm.
"Chara! Don't yell we don't know what's out there." Asriel whined, he looked around and slightly shook, "we shouldn't have come here, g-golly we should go back while we still can."
"No," Chara begged, they looked back at the direction of the noise, "this could be our only chance!"
"Yeah, our only chance to possibly get hurt," Geno snapped, he walked up to Asriel and Chara quietly, "this is getting too creepy, Asriel is right, let's go back to the campsite."
Chara frowned and looked back, "Just a few more minutes please, if no one comes I promise we'll leave. Please?"
Geno and Asriel looked at each other once more, "five minutes and that's it."
They both said, Chara frowned and looked back.
"Hey!" They called out once again, Asriel looked at Geno nervously but kept quiet, "you can come out! We're not going to hurt you!"
"There's probably no one here, Chara." Geno exhaled, he gazed at them as they made no comment. Asriel simply stared and stayed close to Geno.
Three minutes have passed and not another sound was heard, Chara stood still waiting and calling out into the darkness. Geno groaned and looked back up to the camping lights, he was beginning to miss his sleeping bag.
Two minutes have passed and nothing happened, Geno and Asriel stood up from the ground and walked up to Chara who kept looking side to side. Asriel puffed and put a hand to Chara's shoulder.
They turned to him with am expression as if they were about to cry, Asriel raised an eyebrow and looked at Chara sadly.
"Come on Chara, maybe today wasn't our day. I'm sure we'll be able to find one next time." Asriel reassured, Chara looked down I'm defeat and whistled.
"Fine......let's go back," They say and look over to Geno, he smiled and looked over to the place papyrus hide.
"Lemme go get pap-"
Another snap of a branch made them all give a small scream, the branch fell to the ground. Almost hitting Geno on the head, they all looked up but sadly saw nothing.
Chara turned to Asriel, their eyes gleamed with determination.
"Asriel! Do you still have that flashlight?" They asked excitedly.
"U-umm," Asriel gulped and dug in his sweater pocket, he pulled out a bright yellow toy flashlight.
Chara immediately snatched it and pressed the button, making a small light erupt from the flashlight.
They shined the light up onto the tree but sadly saw nothing, then they slowly made the light trail down the tree till they were almost at the ground.
Asriel placed his hand to his mouth and stifled and scream while Geno's eye socket went completely black in fear. Chara gasped but smiled and shined the light higher.
Behind the tree a tall figure stood hiding as much of their body as possible. Their eyes shined red when Chara tried to shine the light closer to their face.
The figure hid away behind the tree as the light got closer, Chara quickly brought the light back to the ground and the figure came out again.
"Do you not like the light?" They asked, the figure nodded and Chara smiled, "oh okay! I won't shine it in your face! You can come out!"
The figure came out a small bit but stayed hidden in the darkness. Geno and Asriel both stood an inch behind Chara and looked at each other with great worry.
"Oh! Alow us to introduce ourselves!" Chara smiled warmly, they looked back at Geno and Asriel and elbowed them gently.
They whispered, "Greet them how mom and dad showed us how too. We're supposed to be professional here."
"O-oh um," Asriel stuttered and walked up to Chara, he looked at the figure and gulped. Both Chara and Asriel bowed and looked back up to the figure.
"My n-name is Asriel dreemurr, son of Queen Toriel and King Asgore. It's a pleasure to meet you," Asriel greeted meekly, he looked over to chara with an embarrassed expression.
Chara ignored him and gave a big smile to the figure, "Greetings, I am Chara dreemurr, child of Queen Toriel and King Asgore, it's a pleasure to make your acquaintance." They said confidently, they looked over to Geno who was silently waiting for them to finish. Chara gave him a 'looked' and motioned for him to come over.
Geno sighed and walked up to them nervously.
"Go on," Chara whispered, Geno gave a small whine but didn't fight them.
"Hello, I am Geno gaster, son of the royal scientists and family to the royal court, nice to meet you." Geno gave a small little bow and stood closer to Chara. Chara smiled victoriously and looked over to the figure, they stood in the same spot and stayed quiet.
"So...what's your name!?" Chara said enthusiastically, the figure slowly bowed it's head down slowly and stayed quiet.
All three of them looked at each other awkwardly before Geno leaned in and whispered into Chara's ear, "maybe they don't have a name."
"Or maybe they can't talk," Asriel whispered back and looked back at the figure, "Chara we don't even know they are a vampire."
"Well I'll have to ask then!" Chara smiled and walked forward, both Geno and Asriel gasped and tried to grab their arm but they were too late.
"It's okay if you can't tell us your name!" Chara grinned and kept walking forward, they walked till they were only a few feet away from the figure.
"My name is pretty dumb, it's actual Character but chara sounds way better don't you think?"
The figure nodded and purred slightly, this made Chara smile and laugh. They looked over to Geno and Asriel who haven't moved from the spot they were in and frowned.
"Well....uh I guess your wondering why were in your forest?" Chara laughed nervously, the figure nodded instantly and looked back to Geno and Asriel. Both of them tensed up and stood close to each other.
"Uh.....um," Chara smiled, a ball if nervousness was forming in their gut, "well me and my....brothers were out looking for someone." They said hoping the figure didn't catch their small lie.
The monster moved it's head to the side in confusion, they looked back to chara for an answer.
"We're actually looking for a vampire," Chara said quickly and gripped the flashlight tightly, "you wouldn't happen.....to know one right?"
The monster shook it's head and chara sighed, Asriel walked a bit forward but stayed back. Geno looked at him like he was crazy but followed him.
"......." Chara stayed silent, and so did the figure. Only the sound of the wind blowing filled the awkward tension. They rocked back and forth on their heals and looked back up to the figure.
"So, are you a vampire?" They asked with a polite smile. They heard Geno and Asriel gave a groan of disapproval but ignored them.
The figure slowly shook it's head to the side, earning a frown from Chara but before they could speak the figure shook it's head up and down.
Chara raised an eyebrow and looked around, "so....you're not a vampire?" They asked, the monster shook it's head up and down and to the side again.
Chara turned their head to Asriel and Geno and gave them a confused look, which the both of them shrugged to. Chara turned back to the figure who seemed to have gone a few inches away from them.
"Oh..ok! So you're a monster then!" Chara said nervously, the figure shook it's head to the side and up and down again.
Chara gave a silent frustrated sigh but kept their smile.
"Then, what are you?" Asriel asked from afar, chara backed away so that they were standing a few feet in front of him.
Chara shook their head, feeling some alarms going off. "You're definitely not human."
They dug their hands into their pockets casually, but they gripped their knife tightly. The figure stayed still making no sudden moments. Chara backed up some more and now was in the middle of Asriel and Geno.
"Let's get o-out if he-here," Asriel suggested, Geno turned to him and widened his eyes towards the bush and rock papyrus hid in. Asriel nodded and hugged Chara's arm while Geno tried to keep his eyes off papyrus's hiding spot.
"I'm not a human," The figure finally spoke, all three of them slightly flinched at the sudden voice but shifted their attention to the figure.
"I'm not a monster."
"I'm not a vampire."
"Then what are you then?" Chara pouted, the figure shook their head and glared through the darkness.
"If I tell you, a lot of us will die." They sighed, a few branches snapped in front of them as they inched closer. Chara Asriel and Geno backed up some more.
"What do you mean?" Geno asked cautiously and stopped so he was close to papyrus's hiding spot. The figure shook their head more and glared.
"That doesn't matter," they growled and stopped, they looked directly at Chara, their eyes seemed to soften.
"I'm sorry I wasn't the Vampire you needed, but you're the human we need."
The blood in Chara's body turned cold as shills went down their spine, Geno and Asriel slowly turned their heads looking to the side of Chara.
Their voices shook as they whispered, ".......Chara."
Chara Looked at the both of them and freezed before looking back.
"What's.......wrong..."
A shriek rang in the forest as a pair of hands grabbed onto chara and pulled them back, dragging them on the ground. The sudden pull pushed Asriel away and knocked Geno to the ground.
Chara's hands flung our of their pockets and grabbed the tree nearest to them as the hands pulled them. Their knife laid only a couple of inches away from their grasp.
Geno sat up, his soul was pounding in his chest so hard it hurt. He looked over to Asriel who was backing away in fear from the figure that was inching towards him.
Geno tried to get up, but his whole body was becoming paralyzed with fear...

"Geno....." Death said appalled, he didn't know what to do and stared at Geno. Geno's arms rested on his knees and his eyes dazed off into the trees. Both of them sat in another wave of silence.
"And then....." Geno sighed, he looked at his hands and squeezed them, "I'm here......"
Geno took a deep breath and turned his head to Death, Death jumped in surprised but stared back.
"That honestly....felt so much better," Geno smiled at Death, a real smile, "Thank you."
Deaths eye widened, he felt his soul turn warm and a bit of pain from it. He turned his head forward in surprise and smile.
"A-anytime," he laughed nervously, and laid his head on the tree, "I'm not the best at comforting but...you can tell me anything."
Geno nodded and looked forward again, "The rain stopped, do you still want to walk?"
Death gave a small chuckle and slouched a bit, "you know~ I got a bit too comfortable on this tree. Though, it is tempting to just run out of the forest right now."
Geno laughed in agreement and looked up to the branches, "why do you?"
Death turned his head immediately to Geno in shock, "I can't, I can't just....leave. I, what would happen to them-"
"Death it's fine I was only asking," Geno said in an apologetic manner, Death sighed and smiled a bit.
"It's fine, just, I don't trust myself to let anyone else run the district." Death spoke, he rubbed the back of his head and shrugged, "I would if I could though, so I can at least see the stars. But that isn't going to happen."
"Oh yeah," Geno gasped and looked up to the branch above him, "I remember you saying you never seen them before."
Death shook his head and stretched, "Maybe I have, but I was definitely too young to re- what are you doing?"
He stood up when he saw Geno already climbing up onto the tree, Geno looked down on him and signaled him to follow. Death shook his head and looked around.
"No someone will see us!" Death whispered nervously, Geno smiled and rolled his eyes. He grabbed another branch and lifted himself up.
"Who will see us?" Geno gasped as he got up another branch, "we're literally in the middle of the forest, there isn't any top land for miles."
"I don't know," Death said nervously and looked up to Geno, he stood closely by the tree and kept looking around, "the scouts maybe?"
"Death," Geno said seriously and stopped climbing the tree, Death stared at him nervously.
"I promise you no one will see us, come on its getting dark so the stars will be out."
Death looked at the tree hesitantly and back at Geno who gave him a small smile. Death sighed and looked around one more time before grabbing a branch.
"Okay," death mumbled and grabbed the branch and hosted himself up. Geno smiled victoriously and continued climbing up the tree till he was near the top. Death gripped the branches carefully and kept looking down to his feet.
don't fall, he begged as he reached out for another branch, it was out of his reach so he did a little jump to it. The water on the tree manged to make him slip and miss the branch completely, he would've fell if Geno hadn't grabbed onto his hand.
Death regained his balanced and got back onto the branch, Geno let go of his hand and held back a laugh.
"Ppff," Geno giggled, Death's face started to get a small bit blue but kept quiet. His soul was pounding every time they got closer to the top, and every time they got closer, more light started to shine through the leaves.
"Okay," Geno said as they were near the top, He and death both stood on the same branch as they started to climb again, "close your eyes,"
Death definitely didn't want to argue and closed his eyes completely, Geno grabbed onto his arm and helped him climb up some more till they completely stopped. Geno sat down and helped Death find the branch to sit as well.
"Alright, you can look now," Geno gave a small excited laugh as death slowly opened his eyes.
Death's mouth fell open but no words came out, he stayed frozen looking up at the sky and stars. Geno waited a quietly, grinning at Death's reaction.
"Holy shit." Was the only words that fell from his mouth. Geno immediately went into a laughing fit and held onto a branch to keep him from falling. Death turned his head back to him and started laughing as well.
"I-it's really blue," Death laughed and gasped at the sky, two bright stars casted a soft white light over the entire forest.
"Wow."
Geno nudged him with his elbow and pointed to the sky, "look right there and you could see the big dipper."
Death squinched his eyes and pointed to a row of stars that resembled a pot, "That one right there?"
"Yeah," Geno nodded and stared at it, a huge smile was plastered across Death's face as he stood up on the thick part of the branch. He held onto a smaller branch to balance himself and kept on staring at the sky.
Geno looked back at the sky and back to Death before getting an idea, "Hey Death?"
"Mm?"
"You can fly, right?" Geno asked Death, he nodded and stared at Geno with a confused look.
"Yes, why?" Death questioned, Geno smiled and pointed out into the open. Death looked but didn't get what he was saying.
"Goand fly out there if you want too," Geno suggested, Death looked back out to the sky and gripped the branch tighter.
Very hesitantly, he started to spread his wings open. Geno slightly lowered his head when the wing got close to him and watched. Death gave a small laugh before fluttering his wings and flying off.
Geno held onto the branch as the wind from Death's wings almost blasted him back.
"Whoa!!" Geno laughed as he saw Death fly around the tree and into the open in front of him. The sky made it seem like Death was a black silhouette flying through the sky.
Geno slightly jumped in confusion when death looked back at him, and in a blip he dissappeared. Geno quietly gasped and stood up on the branch and looked around.
Death was no where to be seen.
"Hey~"
Geno screamed and hugged the tree before he could fall off, he gasped when he heard an erupt of laughter from behind him.
Death stepped back onto the branch with one foot but kept himself in the air.
"That was too priceless!" Death snickered and grabbed onto another branch, Geno hissed at him and hugged the tree.
"What was that for!?" Geno hissed and gave a small glare at Death, "you gave me a heart attack!"
Death laughed and held out a hand for Geno, Geno shook his head and hugged the tree tighter.
"I might as well marry this tree cause I'm definitely not letting go now!"
Death cackled and flew to the other side of Geno, "Well I'm sure that relationship will grow into a beautiful one but the root of the problem is that you don't branch out to other options."
Within the first few words Geno was already laughing out out, Death took his chance and grabbed geno's arm and basically threw him on his back.
Geno gave a small shriek of surprise and held onto death tightly, scared to fall off.
"Whoa! Ok! I'm good!" Geno laughed nervously and looked around, Death laughed as Geno hugged the back of his neck harder.
"Ok I want to get down n- AAA-"
"Too late!!" Death snickered as both of them flew up into the sky, Geno screamed but quickly gripped onto Death.
Death glided over the trees but stayed close to one they were in, Geno shut his eyes completely and laid his head down on Deaths back.
Death smiled for a bit but whimpered when he felt another sharp pain in his soul, making him shake and almost loose balance in his flying.
Geno slowly opened his eyes and looked at Death's skull, "W-what's wrong?"
Death shook his head but still felt the pain, "its nothing," he grunted and flew back to the tree, but before he got close he stopped mid air and looked down at the forest.
Geno looked over his shoulder and looked at him,"Do you see anything,"
Death stared at the forest in a confused manner and slightly squinted his eyes. For a few moments he didn't say anything but slightly lowered down.
"I see....something moving over there," Death said and pointed to a certain part of the forest below. Geno looked but couldn't see anything pass the darkness.
As they stared at the darkness below, a small yellow light was starting to show through it. Both Geno and Death looked at each other confusingly and looked back at the yellow ball that seemed to grow bigger.
"That's......" Death's eyes widened and almost screamed, "That's coming towards us!!"
The yellow ball had gotten to close to them for when death tried to fly away it was too late. Death screeched as the ball ripped right through his left wing, leaving a hole and a feeling of fire in it.
Death immediately lost his balance in flight, both Geno and Death screamed when they both started to fall back into the forest.
Nothing but silence was heard after.
