breathe
"Stop August!" The leader yelled waking up from his unpeaceful sleep. He gripped the bed sheets panting, sweat dripped from his skull and he didn't feel to well. His arm that was crushed felt painfully sore.
"Leader!?" Dr. Kim said rushing to his aid.
Death raised his hand calmly and took some breathes, "I'm alright Kim," death said as he gripped his chest.
"The second I came in you woke up screaming" Dr. Kim said worrisome, he looked at death and touched his forehead.
"You're burning up!"
He quickly grabbed an ice pack and placed it carefully on deaths forehead.
"Are we back at the castle?" Death asked gritting his teeth at the pain he was feeling.
"Yes," Dr. Kim said, "soldiers brought you and geno back for treatment."
Death perked up, "geno? Is he alright?" Death asked worried.
"Yes," Dr. Kim smiled, "he's actually in the next room asleep. He's still healing."
"That's good," death said and laid back, "can you hand me some water?"
Dr. Kim nodded and grabbed a cup that was on the desk and handed it to death.
"Any reports from yellow district?" Death said taking a sip of water.
"No," Dr. Kim sighed rubbing his head.
"I'm not sure if that's good or bad thing, who knows if the X already got to their camp." death said getting a bit stressed.
"Leader?" Dr. Kim asked cautiously, "How much do you remember from the battle?"
Death brought the cup down from his mouth and stared at it, "i..I remember getting pinned down by the X, and....blacking out? I felt my back hit the tree and i..woke up here."
"Leader," Dr. Kim said seriously, "you got hurt badly because you were protecting geno as best as you could. Geno did his best to help you and...killed the X."
Death raised his non existent eyebrow, "its dead?"
"Yes.." Dr. Kim said nervously, "But I'm hoping geno doesn't remember that. Soldiers say when he stabbed the X's soul he looked horrified. I think it's best not to talk about it around him."
Death held the cup on his lap, "i see, is he doing alright? May I go check up in him?"
"No," Dr. Kim smiled, "I'm sorry, but you and him still need to heal. And with how slowly you're healing I'm definitely not letting you get up."
"Doctors orders," death sighed and smiled as he laid down in the bed.
Dr. Kim smiled and took the wires out of the bag, "you're a bit sick, so I think it's best not to give you this medicine. You were taking too much anyway. Idiots, not even paying attention to how much they were giving you, you know i......."
Death nodded, not really hearing him and slowly falling asleep. But as soon as he was about to drift off a scream from the other room woke him.
On instincts, death immediately jumped from the bed to help. Dr. Kim was about to run out of the room but stopped quickly when he saw death jumping off.
Quickly, Dr. Kim grabbed death and pushed him to the bed. Almost pinning him.
Deaths eyes widened and pushed Dr. Kim off him onto the floor.
"Stay there I'll be back!" Dr. Kim said, not really caring that death pushed him and rushed out the door.
Death slightly gasped and rubbed his neck.
"Calm down," death told himself, he took a deep breath, "its not going to happen to you again."
Death looked to the side of the room and listened carefully, he heard Dr. Kim yelling but couldn't make out what.
Death continued to listen, worried, geno was in the other room.
Is everything alright in there? Death thought, but stayed calm.
He sat at the end of the bed, disconnecting the wire that was attached to his soul.
"....." Death looked at his soul for a few seconds before putting it back.
Keeping himself distracted, he took a look at the wounds he got on his body.
"Ow," death said when he looked at his arm that'd been crushed. It had cracks all the way up to his shoulder. It would looked better in no time, he just needed more time to heal.
Death looked to his other shoulder to see it wrapped in a bandages.
"I don't remember this happening," death talked to himself as he slowly traced the bandages with his fingertips.
He felt a slight sting and withdrew his hand away.
"God that hurts," death grunted, he jumped back when he heard a slam from the other door. Footsteps were also heard running out of the castle.
"The hell...." Death trailed, he looked to the left wall where geno's room was at.
"Did something happen?" Death talked to himself.
Death looked at himself before looking out the door, "Let's test how long I can go," death chuckled to himself, a bit hesitant to walk.
He pushed himself standing up and fell to the ground, "ow," death groaned, he somehow managed to trip over some if the blanket that was hanging over. He pushed himself off from the floor to the bed. He gripped the bed and started to walk.
He held onto the bed, helping him move closer to the door. He slowly walked to the end of the bed, balancing himself.
Once he ran out of bed to help him walk, he slowly limped to the wall where he walked the rest of the way.
Death turned the brown Door and was met with the chilled air of the hallway.
Death slightly shivered, after all the time living in the castle he never got used to the cold, But his body heat kept him warm.
He peeked out into the hallway, nobody seemed to be around, "they're probably in the great room," death guess and steadied himself to the wall.
He inched closer to geno's room, and made it to the door.
Suddenly he felt too exhausted to opened the door, so he leaned against the wall and knocked.
For a few seconds Death heard silence till the sounds of footsteps made it's way to the door.
"Dr. Kim," Greson said opening the door, "what was qui- death!?"
"Greson you're not that old," death joked and tripped into Greson's arms.
"What are you doing out of bed?" Greson said as he lead him inside.
"Well," death huffed as he was sat down in a chair, "Dr. Kim just flew to action when we heard some yelling here. And after he left I got deathly worried and tripped to get here."
"Ah," Greson sighed and felt deaths head, "the ice pack isn't doing much is it?"
Death shook his head no and felt his eyes droop.
"Is everything alright here?" death manage to tiredly slur.
Greson nodded quietly and pointed to to the bed in the room.
Geno was slowly falling asleep, trying his best to stay awake. His eye drooped but he kept jerking his head to stay awake.
He didn't seem to notice that death walked in.
Soon geno gave in and fell asleep, death slightly chuckled to himself. He looked at greson trying to stay awake.
"What happened here anyway?" Death asked, greson took a seat next to him.
"I heard that you were having some issues in your sleep death." Greson said rather seriously, "did you dream of him again?"
Deaths eyes widened and looked away from greson, he nodded.
"I know the only way to stop it is to finish the dream - but i..I just can't."
Greson rubbed deaths back, comforting him, "he's long gone, death. I know that sort of thing is really hard to move on from. But try, okay?"
Death nodded, "yeah, I'll....I'll try."
Greson gave death a smile and looked over to geno and give an 'oh!' And looked at death.
"Mover yer sleeve," Greson said and death did, greson undid the bandages of deaths arm and looked at it.
"You might want to look away," Greson warned.
"Why- oh my god-" death gagged and put a hand on his mouth to keep him from vomiting. He kept looking away from his arm, trying to get the image of his cut shoulder with pink looking goo dripping from it.
"Told you," Greson shrugged and grabbed a cloth to clean the wound.
Death shivered as he felt the cold cloth go against his bones and inside the cut cracks of it.
"W-what is that?" Death said feeling his cheeks go green, he gagged a few times as the image of his arm kept appearing in his head.
"I'm not sure," Greson answered truthfully, "But Dr. Kim seemed really baffled by it. So I'll save this for him."
"Geno got hit on the same spot," death gaged remembering the bits of the fight.
"I already cleaned him," Greson said and looked at death, "you want a bucket?"
"N-no," death gasped and felt his nausea go down, "I'm good."
"And this is why Dr. Kim can't teach you medical," Greson laughed as he wrapped deaths cut with new bandages.
Death yawned but didn't say anything.
"It's going to take a while before you guys are fully healed." Greson said getting up and walking in front of death, "here, the bed is closer here. So you can sleep."
"Huh?" Death refused, but his body screamed for sleep, "no its fine, just let geno sleep I'll be fine."
"Nonsense," Greson said pulling death from the chair, death was too tired and weak to do anything, "geno's already asleep and the bed is pretty big, it'll be fine."
"But.." Death trailed, he didn't want to invade geno's space.
"No," Greson said strictly.
Death gave in and laid in the bed, geno was near the side of the edge but not to close to fall. Greson left to check on the kids while death tried to get comfortable.
He turned his back to geno but stayed awake. All the exhaustion he felt suddenly went away as his heart race increased. He never slept in a bed with someone else on it.....it...was weird.
Even though they were kinda far away, death could hear geno's slow breathing. It relaxed him a bit.
Usually death was used to having his big bed, just him and himself. But having someone so close felt relaxing and terrifying at the same time.
Death turned and looked at geno, he looked so relaxed compared to death at the moment.
Death continued to stare at the sleeping skeleton till he decided to shut his eyes.
Feeling more relaxed now he started to fall to sleep.
Some thrashing as whimpers woke him up an hour later.
Death opened his eyes quickly and scanned the room. It was mid morning, but death couldn't tell. He looked around the room some more before realizing someone else was in the bed with him.
Death slightly jumped and looked at geno in surprise. The skeleton was gripping the bed and turning slightly on distress.
Death stared at him for a few moments before realizing that he was having a nightmare.
Death gritted his teeth, unsure of what to do.
He thought about finding greson but his legs still felt weak.
Maybe waking him up? No, geno would most likely get scared.
Death thought for a few more moments before remembering what his mom would do.
Slowly, death laid back down and looked at geno. Hesitantly, he moved his hand to geno's that was gripping the bed sheets.
He slowly, not to wake him up, intertwined his hand with geno's and held it. Death shivered a bit feeling the ice cold hand of geno mix with his warm one.
He waited a few seconds not daring to breathe as geno gripped his hand slightly but not waking up.
Soon death felt geno's hand relax and geno started to sleep peacefully again.
"Heh," death said to himself as he watched geno's breathing fo back to normal.
He mentally thanked his mom and wished her goodnight.
He soon fell asleep, his hand intertwined with geno's.
Aaayyyyy, here you go guys! The moment you've been waiting for.
