Dearest(Canzone)
My dearest love with wings that soar freely.
If I may catch thee, let me love your wonders.
The road to internal freedom is slim.
Intense winds that do catch me up to speed.
What I know now, changed from what I knew then.
Hopelessly lost, or grieving soul roaming.
That speck of courage you cling to your chest.
Speaking softly straight into the night sky.
But I will not fall so helpless and blue.
Though I maybe forever world's apart.
A base of confinement that's left broken.
Words left unspoken, with one life ahead.
A dame busted through, windows now shattered.
Forget me, forget me not, how I pray.
A heart I give you each time, no delay.
Used to the ton, a spell you shine my way.
This is an Italian poem style called Canzone, and closely resembles a sonnet. Usually 14-20 lines, it also helps with syllable schemes, by using ten syllables each line.
Here's the recipe;
First two lines: Define your subject and how you will speak with the reader.
Second two lines: Convey the central theme, question, or conflict.
Third set of line: Convey your mood, sentiment, and stance.
Fourth set of lines: Elaborate on the direction of this and the following stanzas, further embedding the purpose of the poem in the reader's mind.
Closing couplet: Whether you're writing one, five, or seven stanzas, bring a close to the stanza and leave an opening for further development.
Leave your poem in the comments if you end up making one! :)
