Chapter 20 {Savita}
Warning:Slight graphic description of violence. Just decapitation and blood. I'll try to make it as clean as possible so it's not too gory for younger people.
Savita marched down the corridor to the throne room.
Her guards told her of Ignatius's escape and the betrayal of someone she had actually trusted.
Now with that betrayal, she would not hold back on delivering a harsh and just punishment, and she already had part of it in mind.
The guards bowed to her as she approached, and opened the doors.
Savita walked in, ignoring the crumpled, heap of Elidi on the floor, and seated herself in the flame shaped throne.
"Rise." She told the girl huddled on the ground.
Elidi did not respond to her command nor did she look up. She stay where she was at, her face hidden beneath her tangled golden hair.
That annoyed her.
She did not take the throne so her own subjects could ignore her every command. Disobedience would not be tolerated.
She slightly nodded her head at one of the guards stationed next to her throne.
The guard walked forwards, and yanked Elidi up to her feet.
Elidi stood there like a limp doll, her head down, her limbs hanging like there were invisible weights on them.
"Elidi, for your involvement in Ignatius's escape and the fact that you have been hiding your use of magic, I here by condemn you to the dungeons...for life. Unless...you can tell me exactly where Ignatius went, and I may lessen your punishment."
Elidi did not respond.
"I am offering you a chance to shorten your punishment and you just stand there." She said in disappointment and annoyance. She misjudged Elidi's friendship with Ignatius. It was a mistake she would never make again.
"Are you going to respond?"
Still no answer from the girl.
"Very well. Bring him." She told the guard waiting in her father's secret entrance into the throne room; only the warlords and Ignacio knew of it. "If you won't talk to save yourself then maybe you will to save someone else." She said maliciously.
Elidi stirred a little but that was it.
A small smile appeared on her face.
Excellent. Now she would get her answers if Elidi truly cared for him.
Ignacio came walking in with Hakan.
Hakan was worse looking than he originally did. The young man had always had pale skin and a thin, short build. But now after being in the dungeons for nearly two weeks, he was far more haggard, looking like a walking skeleton in skin.
Elidi's head tilted up as Hakan was forced into to stand by her side.
"Now, Elidi, fell me what I want to know."
Elidi's magenta eyes met hers and didn't leave.
"No." She said firmly.
It looked like someone had finally grown some backbone, unfortunately.
"So you will not tell me what I want to know?"
"I would never sell out Ignatius to a monster like you."
"Watch your mouth, girl." Ignacio snarled, smacking her across the face, sending her to the stone floor.
The other guard grabbed Elidi and pulled her back up to her feet.
"So if you will not tell me what I want to know that means you're friend here will die a slowly and painful death. And I assure you, I am true to my word."
Elidi kept her eyes trained on hers.
"Ignacio," she looked at the Head of the King's Guard.
The man drew his sword, and slashed Hakan's leg, causing him to fall to the ground with a cry of pain.
Elidi broke her gaze with her, and crouched next to Hakan as he clutched his bleeding leg as if trying to stop the bleeding.
"You can still save his life if you tell me where Ignatius went."
Elidi mumbled something unintelligible.
"What did you say? I can't here you when you mumble." Savita asked. She was not going to deal with Elidi's mumbling today. She was in no mood for it.
Elidi continued to mutter.
"Hey!" Ignacio said suddenly, grabbing her by her hair and yanking her away from Hakan. "I saw what you did, malefica." Ignacio snarled at her.
Savita narrowed her eyes at Elidi.
Clearly little miss clever tried to use her magic to heal Hakan. She was not going to stand for that.
She nodded her head at Ignacio.
Ignacio tossed Elidi to the side, and drove his sword through Hakan's injured leg and ripped it out without mercy.
Hakan's screams echoed loudly in the large room.
Savita saw Elidi struggling to not cry with Hakan's pained screams.
"Are you going to tell me where Ignatius is? Or do I have to allow Ignacio to cut Hakan up into little pieces till you break?" Savita asked the girl.
Elidi looked like she wanted to answer but didn't know how.
"Very well. Ignacio, cleave him in two."
Ignacio lifted up his sword to cleave the young man in two when Elidi finally broke.
"I don't know where Ignatius went." She sobbed. "I swear to the goddess herself."
"Hmm. I am otherwise unconvinced. Ignacio, decapitate him." She said changing her mind; she would hate to clean up all that blood if she went with her first option.
"No, please! I don't know where Ignatius went. I swear on my life. Please! Savita don't do this!" Elidi begged.
"That's Queen Savita to you. Ignacio." She told Elidi, and for Ignacio to go on with it.
"Hakan!" Elidi cried as Hakan's headless body fell to the floor.
Elidi's mournful sobs filled the throne room as she cried over her friend.
"Take her back to her cell, and get someone to clean that up." She ordered, looking at the pool of crimson in detestation as the blood stained the fringe of a rug.
Elidi was dragged away while the guard disposed of the Hakan's corpse and head.
Savita walked down the stairs of the dais, and made her way back to her room.
She sighed when she was in the silence of her room.
As she sat down on her bed, and undid her hair, she felt a warm breeze brush against her bare skin.
She glanced at the open window.
She didn't leave the window open.
That meant...
Savita jumped up immediately, yanking her dagger from a hidden fold in her dress.
She was not going to be killed by a lowly assassin when she was the most dangerous person in this citadel besides Phoenyx, wherever she was lurking about.
She looked at the dark corner in her room where she could see the silhouette of her would be attacker.
"Who are you?" She demanded.
"You may call me Quod aeterna flamma...for now until I deem you are worthy enough to know my name." The woman said.
"You call yourself 'The Eternal Flame?' That is childish." Savita scoffed.
"On the contrary, Queen Savita. Once your enemies taste my wrath they will fear the very utterance of 'The Eternal Flame' or any other ways to talk about me." The woman said, staying in the shadows. "I've heard of your ambitions to protect all Draconigena, and I can help you with that."
"A crazy woman who calls herself 'The Eternal Flame' thinks she can help me? Unlikely. What are you going to do? Use magic or something to scare them all, because that won't help. All the kingdoms have their own mages to ward off magical attacks."
"Who said anything about magic." The woman said wickedly, and two flames appeared in her hands. One stark white and the other lightning blue.
Savita stumbled back.
"You're—you're one of them."
"Very perceptive, my young queen. Now, tell me, will you do anything to protect the Draconigena race?"
"Yes."
"Even going to war with your neighbors to ensure that they too will accept your wish."
Savita froze.
Going to war with the other kingdoms would be suicide, especially with the unconquerable Earth Stronghold hiding safely in their walls.
She did want to protect the Draconigena race, though she was never sure how to get the other kingdoms to accept her dream. She was originally just going to allow any Draconigena to seek refuge in her kingdom. But what this woman was talking about would ensure that her wish would come true.
"Yes."
"Excellent. Now let's begin."
P.S. Let me know if this was too gory. If so I'll fix it.
