Chapter 1: College
Pranitha's POV
I'll see you in a few months mom. Its ok." I say to my mom as I hug her.
I am crying as well. Because, lets face it, going to college is not easy on anyone, especially if they have to leave their parents and their younger sister, no matter how much she annoys them. I got into Princeton, my dream college. I am playing on the volleyball team as well, which is great, because I really love volleyball.
"Bye Pranitha. Be careful, college is not easy, and it is not a joke. Make sure to study well, or you will not pass your classes. Follow our culture, no parties. Don't start drinking or smoking, it is bad for you." My dad says to me after he finished putting the last of my bags into my car. I nod, and go to hug him. He starts to cry a little.
"Sis, I will miss you." My sister says as she comes to hug me.
"I will miss you more Sanu." I say to her.
"I don't want you to go to college."
"But I have to baby. I will study hard and become a doctor." Tho I don't want to. I add in my head. I smile, which makes her giggle a little.
My sister, Sanu, is going to 5th grade this year. And I am going to college. Woohoo (include sarcasmmmm.)
I give my family one last hug, and jump into my car. Princeton, here I comeee!!!
****
I drive all the way to Princeton, which was a 2 hour drive. In the middle, I stopped at Dunking Donuts to grab a vanilla chai, and then popped into the McDonalds right next door, ordering a chicken burger and a small fries. And, yes, I listened to Indian music the entire 2 hours. Well, for an hour and a half, to be exact, because one 10 minutes, I talked to my best friend, Zaara Chakra.
We are both roommates, so yayyyyyy. I mean, what's better than having your best friend as your roomie? And, we are both INSANELY into Indian movies, especially the Telugu Film Industry. Yes, I love my mother tongue, so if don't through shade please.
Oh, and the other 20 minutes? I talked to another one of my best friends, Karthik. I actually met him on insta, and he was a really nice person. He understood me. I met him in 8th grade, and he is three years older than me. But, he started college last year, having traveled the world for a few years, he decided to join college. He also goes to princeton, and we were talking about how I never talked to my parents about my dream. Oh, my dream is acting in Tollywood, because I am a complete Indian. He told me to talk to them about it, but like, my parents would be pissed if I told them, so I didn't. I mean, I did some plays in school, which are on youtube, and I have a youtube channel and stuff, but like, lets be honest, I am not gonna be able to get into TFI(Telugu Film Industry) through those videos.
Anyways, Back to the present. I pulled into the parking lot and park my Honda CRV. I get out, and lock it. I grab my both my suitcases and my purse, and head into the school, just like everyone else. I go to the front office to get my dorm.
"You are dorm number 236." the woman said to me. I thanked her, and took my stuff to my room.
I open the door to my dorm using my key, and find that Zaara is already there. She was unpacking her bags, putting her cloths into her closet. I open the door, and run up to her, hugging her. It has been close two three months since we had seen each other, because I was in India over the summer.
"Man, I can't believe we are in college." I say to her. She nods.
"So, are you in for some music while unpacking?" she asks. I look at her and smile before answering.
"You know it bestie." And we unpack while singing to our favorite Indian songs. Yea, pretty sure that the dorm next to ours heard us. Luckily, we are the last dorm in our row, so we have more privacy in a way. After we finish unpacking, we flop down on our beds.
"What do you wanna do?" She asks me.
"Hmmmmmm. Movie marathon." I say, looking at her.
"Wha-" she starts, but is interrupted by my phone ringing. It's Karthik.
This is how the phone call went (K is Karthik and P is me):
K- hey
P-hiiiiii
K-woah, someone's happy
p-lol
K-did you come?
P-Nope (I pop the p) still driving.
K- What the heck? It takes like two hours!
P- right? So why the hell would you ask me then? Dumbass.
K- lol. Guess I deserve that for being dumb. (I roll my eyes)
P- wow, captain obvious, finally made a great discovery.
K- huh?
P- that your dumb, dumbass.
K- Ohhhhhhhhhhhh
P- Yea, ohhhhhhh.
(he chuckles)
K- what dorm are you?
P- 236
K- Oh! im 201. Same block. my roomie's not here yet. Imma swing by. Is that ok?
P- yea, i want you to meet my best friend too. Come over, we were actually gonna start watching our fav movies.
K- kk. be right there.
P- Ight, bye.
K- see you
*Call ends*
"Who was that?" Zaara asks.
"You know that dude that I met on insta?"
"Yea."
"he goes here, its his second year. He's coming over."
"Oooooh. Kk. Can't wait to meet the dude that you've liked since 8th grade."
I blush and roll my eyes. "Shut up."
She just chuckles. Yes, I met him online, and liked him because he was so nice to me and understood me. I told him, but then he had a girlfriend, and then she just dumped him randomly, and we didnt talk for a whole day once because he had AP exams that day and that night he was like will you go out with me? But I mean, it was my ex's birthday, and I still couldn't forget my ex, and I said I needed time. Then, after a few days, I'm like Pranu, you are the dumbest ass in the world. I started to like him even more, and then by that time, he had moved on. The only person that knew about this was my best friend, Zaara.
It has been two years since I have last seen him. He had come to my grad from high school, because his cousin and brother were in my grade. We had met, then for the first time, and might I add, he was hot. But, we are also best friends. And he was coming over. Like right now. Man, I am so scared.
So? How much do you ppl like this? Also, TFI stands for Telugu Film Industry, so like yea. Plz tell me how much u like this book. Im trying sum new out here.
