Meeting Dumbledore

Here's my next chapter! I hope you guys enjoy it. I want your feedback, so please comment.

Chapter 2

Everyone turned to face me and Dumbledore, McGonagall, and a few other teachers stood. A couple of students dropped their food from their hands.

"What is the meaning of this interruption?" Dumbledore roared.

I pretty much just stared at my feet and mumbled. I wasn't even sure what I mumbled so I was pretty sure they didn't. I couldn't believe I was embarrassing myself in front of all the Hogwarts students I'd read about. I suddenly felt a little self-conscious as I realized I was the only person in muggle clothes. I was wearing a plain, short-sleeved purple shirt with skinny jeans. I was also wearing denim flats.

"Pardon me, Miss...," Dumbledore waited for me to fill in the blank.

I looked up into his eyes and spoke as clearly as possible in my current state of nervousness.

        "Kendra Blake," I filled in.

"Pardon me, Miss Blake, but what are you doing here?" Dumbledore inquired.

I kept my head high and looked him in the eye. "I haven't the slightest idea."

        "How did you get here?"

        "No idea."

        "Where are you from?"

        "Utah, in America."

Dumbledore finally turned away from me to face McGonagall. "Professor McGonagall, would you be kind enough to accompany Miss Blake to my office. I will be there shortly."

        Professor McGonagall nodded. "Of course."

Professor McGonagall led me out of the Great Hall. As we were walking out, my gaze fell onto the Gryffindor table. I spotted Neville who was gaping at me, along with everyone else. I made eye contact with him and smiled. I almost laughed at the way his eyes seemed to pop from his head. I couldn't necessarily blame him. A strange girl had popped into the Great Hall. No one knew how she got there or why she was here and she smiled at him.

We made our way through the castle until we reached the gargoyle guarding Dumbledore's office. Professor McGonagall and I came to a stop in front of it. "Cauldron Cakes!"

"Dumbledore does enjoy his sweets, doesn't he?" I thought, smiling to myself. "Lemon drops, acid pops, and now cauldron cakes."

We made our way up the spiral staircase. I was excited beyond words. I think Professor McGongall noticed because she gave me a withering look. She probably thought I shouldn't be excited when I was about to be interrogated, but I couldn't help myself. When we reached Dumbledore's office, she opened the door and walked in. I followed behind her in anticipation.

I was absolutely amazed when I walked in. It was so enthralling. I was in Dumbledore's office. It was full of all types of magical knick knacks. I was able to name the Foe-Glass and the Sneakascope, but that was all. I looked around at the portraits. I only knew one of their names, and that was Phineas Black.

"You will wait right here until Dumbledore arrives, Ms. Blake, understand?" Professor McGonagall ordered.

"Yes, Professor," I assured her, "I won't move an inch from this very spot."

I couldn't help smiling as I continued to look around the office. I saw the sorting hat, Fawkes the phoenix, and even saw where the Pensieve was. I could tell McGonagall was still bothered by the fact that I was smiling, but I wasn't planning on stopping. Then I let my thoughts wonder. What was I going to tell Professor Dumbledore? I probably wouldn't believe the truth. I couldn't exactly tell him that everyone's life here were in books in my world. Perhaps I could tell him that I had a bit of Seers blood and I knew the future for specific people for a ways in the future. He could believe that, but I'd probably have to prove it. Hmm...

Suddenly, Professor Dumbledore walked in. I whirled around to face him. I saw his somber face and let my face drop a bit. For all he knew, I was a threat to the school's safety. My eyes followed him as he walked around to his chair behind his desk. He settled in and for the first time was able to understand just how piercing Dumbledore's eyes could be. Let me tell you, Harry wasn't lying when he said it felt like Dumbledore could see to his soul. I felt like Dumbledore could see everything I'd ever done wrong, like he could see right into my very soul.

I mentally shook myself. He couldn't really see into my soul, it just felt like that. I started to wonder if he was just going to keep studying me or talk when suddenly he spoke.

"So, Miss. Blake, what can you tell us about yourself?"

"Um, well, I," I stuttered. Wow, I had to get a hold of myself. I collected my courage and spoke a little stronger. "I sort of just popped into the school."

        "You didn't apparate though."

"No, I didn't. To tell you the truth, one moment I was in my bedroom, the next I was at Hogwarts."

Dumbledore continued to study me, as if trying to tell if I was lying. Ugh, I wish he would stop doing that. I wish he would just talk instead of lapsing into silence and watching me. "Wait," I suddenly though, "Am I still a muggle? Wouldn't do me much good to end up at Hogwarts and still be a muggle." I started to get a bit worried. "Maybe when I went through my bed and into this world, I absorbed the powers on this world and became I witch," I reasoned with myself. I could only hope this was the case.

"Professor McGonagall, you may rejoin the feast. I think I'll be fine by myself while talking to this  young lady," Dumbledore spoke to McGonagall without taking his eyes off of me.

"Are you sure?" Professor McGonagall asked worriedly.

"Quite sure, but thank you for your concern."

McGonagall promptly left the room, leaving me along with Professor Dumbeldore. I wasn't sure if Dumbeldore believed my story or not. His expression was unreadable. I started to worry that he wouldn't believe me. He had no reason to believe me. I realized that this experience might end up with me in Azkaban.

"I believe you," Dumbledore suddenly stated.

"Really?" I couldn't keep the tone of surprise out of my voice. I really hadn't expected him to believe me.

"Yes, but I have a feeling there's something more you want to tell me?"

Wow, Dumbledore was really good. "Well, the thing is, I kind of, um," I tried stumbling over my words. I took a deep breath. "Come on Kendra, you can do this," I thought to myself.

"I know the future for the next seven years. I also know, for a few students, how they will die and who they will marry. Stuff like that," I said, nervously and rather quickly.

Dumbledore studied me, looking for whether it was the truth. "Is there any way that you can prove this?" Dumbledore questioned me.

I thought quickly. What could I say that was in the near future that he couldn't accuse me of causing it? Oh, I know! "On the first day of potions class, Professor Snape will ask Harry Potter three questions. The three answers will be, in this order, the Draught of Sleeping Death, in the belly of a goat, and they're same plant with different names," I told Dumbledore.

"Very well, I will attend that class to be sure. Until then-"

Suddenly there was a large popping noise behind me, as if someone apparated. I jumped and turned around quickly. I saw a trunk. I glanced at Professor Dumbledore.

        "Should I open it, Professor?

        "Please do."

I approached it carefully. I slowly opened it to find all my muggle clothes from back home in it. I gasped.

"It's all my clothes from home!" I picked up my favorite red shirt with an American flag on it.

"You're trunk will then be taken to where you'll be staying."

I decided not to question him about where I'll be staying. I'll ask him after I have something to eat, because right now I'm too hungry to deal with anything but immediate problems. Dumbledore then got up and walked to the door. "As I was saying before, until then I shall accompany you to the Great Hall."

"But sir, where should I sit?"

"If you know the future, you know who best to associate yourself with."

"Then I suppose I could sit with the Gryffindors, but what will the students think?"

"I will announce that you shall be staying with the Gryffindors until further notice." That answered that question, I thought. "I shall make sure a bed is provided," Dumbledore told me as he stood and walked to the door. "We shall discuss this further after you're first day of classes. Shall we be going?"

I quickly followed after him. I was still worried. What if everyone thought I was a freak, after all I just popped up. I couldn't exactly tell them much. What about my family? I wasn't always the closest with them. They just weren't interested in any of the same things I was. They would still miss me, though. Suddenly I realized something.

"Sir, I don't have any supplies."

Dumbledore glanced behind at me for a moment before continuing. "Hagrid will take you to Diagon Alley tomorrow morning."

Dumbledore stopped a few feet away from the doors to the Great Hall. "Let's keep this conversation between us, Miss. Kendra. And don't worry, once you reach you're dormitory, a house elf will be sent up with some dinner." He then turned around and swept into the Great Hall, with me trailing behind.

And there it is! I hope you think it's okay so far for a 13 year old writing it. Please vote and comment! Tell me if you have any ideas for interacting with the characters. :)
