Classes

Chapter 6

        It was the end of Saturday, and I'd just woken up. I stretched, sprawling my limbs across the entirety of my bed. This week had gone pretty well. Of course, I was a bit of a cheater. I already knew what we would be learning. I was pretty proud of myself, though. I was on Hermione level in most classes. I mean, I did well in muggle school and now I was doing well at Hogwarts. In Transfiguration, the notes weren't fun to take. I took them quickly and easily though. By the end of the class, I was proud to have made a difference in my needle just like Hermione.

        I had finished all my books that I'd bought and I had started spending my breaks in the library. Fred and George still sat by me at meals, which I was really thankful for. Nobody else had really talked to me. I mean, they didn't all keep a two foot perimeter anymore. Guess what, though. I spoke to Neville. I did a little fangirl dance inside when it did. Okay, technically I accidently bumped into him and then we both apologized to each other, but its progress. In the halls, only Fred or George had approached me and talked to me. I usually didn't talk much in our conversations, I just felt kind of quiet. I did laugh a lot, though.

        At breakfast yesterday, I'd gone a letter. It was from Hagrid. I was pleased that Hagrid had like me enough to ask me for tea. His exact words were:

Dear Kendra,

I know you get Friday afternoons off, so would you like to come and have

a cup of tea with me around three? You won't mind if I invite Harry Potter as well, would you?

I want to hear all about your first week. Send us an answer back with

your owl.

Hagrid

        I quickly took the note and replied back to Hagrid that I would love to and that I didn't mind that Harry was coming as well. I quickly gave my reply to Harmony, and sent her off. Oh, did I forget to mention? I decided to name my beautiful owl Harmony. I though it suited her.

        I enjoyed the visit with Hagrid. I didn't talk much really. Hagrid introduced me to Harry and Ron, and then asked how my week went. I said it went fine, but didn't really elaborate. He then went on to ask Harry and Ron about their week. I noticed that Harry and Ron sat a decent distance away from me. Oh well, I just hope this "staying away from me" phase doesn't last the whole school year

        I was perfectly content to listen to Harry and Ron tell Hagrid about everything. I already knew exactly what they were going to say, but it was absolutely amazing to actually hear it with my own ears. I mean, I was hearing THE Harry Potter and THE Ron Weasley have this conversation with THE Hagrid. Not just actors, but they themselves. Anyway, after our meeting I started walking back to the school. I kept my head down and noticed that Ron and Harry kept a good distance between me and them. I didn't really care, I just focused on getting to the Great Hall for dinner.

        Okay, guess where I'm spending today? You'll never guess. Did you say the library? How every did you know? I wasn't really hungry so I decided to skip breakfast. I did that often enough back home, so quickly got ready and headed to the library. I had officially memorized the way to the Great Hall and the library. I reached the library and found my table at the very back of the library. I picked up a book from off one of the shelves. This one was about Transfiguration. So far, it had been one of my favorite subjects so I thought, why not?

        I just had started to read when I spotted two identical ginger heads enter the doors. I watched them come over to my table. They both had matching mischievous grins. They stopped next to my table.

        "Hello," I said.

        "Hello, Kendra," they chorused.

        "And what could possibly have brought you to the library today?" Secretly, I was really pleased. They actually liked me enough to visit me in a place they usually didn't go.

        "Nothing much," the one on the right said. I really need a way to tell them apart.

        "Freddie and I have just been thinking," the one on the left, apparently George, added.

        "You said you had gotten into some trouble?" Fred asked, a glint in his eyes.

        I closed my book and sat it on the table in front of me. "I suppose,” I said, a smile growing on my face. "Why do you ask?"

        They both looked at each other, and then back at me. "How do you feel about a prank?" Fred asked.

                       ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
        We ran around a corner and pressed ourselves against the wall.
        "Do you think we lost him?" George, I think, asked.
        "I think so," I said, a little breathlessly.
        We all looked at each other and then burst out laughing.
        "Did you see his expression?" Fred, I think, said. Gah, I need to figure out how to tell them apart.
        "Oh, that was more fun than I've had in forever," I gasped. I was having a slightly hard time breathing from my giggling fits.
        We finally calmed down enough to stop laughing and breathe regularly.
        "Thanks, oh that was the best," I told them. "If you ever need to prank Snape again, make sure you get me."
        "Wouldn't dream of doing otherwise. You have proven to be a fine pranking partner." George, I assume, said.
        I waved goodbye and headed to the library. Oh, I can't believe we turned Snape's cauldron bright pink. When he saw our fine work, his expression was priceless.
        I reached the library and found my book still on the table where I had left it. I happily picked it up and started reading it again. I'd only gotten about a chapter, when I sat my book down for a moment. Hermione had walked into the library. An idea was now forming in my head. I left my book on the table and walked over to where she was browsing for a book.
        I started browsing next to her and "accidently" bumped her.
        "Oh, I'm sorry," I quickly said.
        "No, it's perfectly fine," she assured. "I don't think we've been properly introduced. I'm Hermione Granger."
        I was slightly surprised. I hadn't expected her to reply in such a friendly fashion. I had seen her in the library before, but I hadn't spoken to her and she hadn't shown any signs of wanting to talk to me.
        "I'm Kendra Blake, which you probably know from my unfortunate and abrupt entrance."
        She smiled. "Yeah. So, what did you come in here for?"
        "Oh, just to read. I find peace in reading, so I was reading a Transfiguration book just over there," I said pointing towards my place at my corner table. "I thought I might also get a book in-" I glanced at the books by where we are. "Charms."
        "Well," she said, grabbing a book off the shelf, "Do you mind if I read by you?"
        I was even more surprised by this. I tried not to let it show. I glanced at the shelf and quickly grabbed a Charms book that looked interesting and about our level.
        "Of course I wouldn't mind," I told her. We both walked back to my table and sat down. I picked up my book and started reading. I was immediately absorbed in my book. It didn't seem like very long, but Hermione tapped my shoulder.
        "It's time for dinner. Are you coming?"
        I quickly got up and nodded. We started walking down together. At first we didn't talk much, but then we started getting into a theory about Transfiguration. This got us both into deep conversation until we reached the Great Hall.
        We both sat down at a table and were about to continue out discussion when we were interrupted by a familiar voice.
        "Sorry to interrupt your oh so interesting conversation, but could you please pass the rolls."
        I looked over at Ron and rolled my eyes. Honestly, I should have been expecting it. Nothing comes between Ron and his food. Hermione passed Ron his precious rolls and then we started dishing ourselves up.
        As I ate my food next to Hermione, I smiled to myself. This wasn't so bad. Hermione and I got along pretty well, just like I thought we would when I read the books. I'd actually gotten up the nerve to talk to her, which was a surprise to me. Next thing you know, I'll be talking to Neville. Well, maybe not quite that just yet.
        I'm sorry for not updating in so long! I don't have an excuse so I'll just beg your forgiveness. I hope you liked the chapter. :)
