kiss of an angel

haha that one comment section where I said George was going to be an angel-

anyways if you haven't read my book Sunny Side Up I recommend it, after I finish that I'm planning on doing a mute George book and the cat/dog au book :)

TW: mention of death

3rd Person P.O.V.

It was no secret that angels and devils existed. It was a well-known fact that, on your 18th birthday, you were assigned one to act as your personal guardian for the rest of your life. If you were lucky, you got an angel. Contrary to popular belief, getting a guardian devil was much more common than a guardian angel, and so "having a devil on your shoulder" was, more often than not, quite literal.

So you could imagine Dream's surprise when he woke up on his 18th birthday to a small brunette boy sitting on the end of his bed, with large feathery wings folded neatly behind him.

He sat up quickly, staring at the angel. His wings were mostly white, tapering into a pale blue at the tips. His hair was a dark brown color, slightly ruffled. He smiled somewhat awkwardly, obviously nervous.

"Um... hi?" Dream greeted unsurely.

"Hi. I'm George, and I'm your guardian angel!" The brunette exclaimed. He spoke with a British accent, his voice being higher in pitch but not high enough to be obnoxious.

"Ok, hi George. I'm Dream." They were both nervous- for George it was first day jitters, but Dream was just mesmerized by the gorgeous angel boy sitting in his bed.

"You're my first human," George admitted, glancing to the side. "I haven't been an angel for very long." Dream sighed, deflating. Right. George was dead, how else would he be an angel? Before he knew it, the words were coming out of his mouth.

"How did you die?" He caught his mistake instantly, eyes widening. "Wait, no, I'm sorry, that's so rude-" George just giggled softly, smiling at Dream with a hint of sadness.

"It's ok, I would be curious too if I had a guardian." What did he mean by that? Everyone got an angel or devil on their 18th birthday...

"...But I was killed. Don't walk in shady back alleys at night, Dream," he chuckled with a sad remembrance.

"Oh shit, I'm so sorry... how old were you, if you don't mind me asking?" George's expression turned sour, and Dream knew he had struck a nerve.

"Seventeen." So that's why he never had a guardian.

"That's awful..." George nodded, sighing.

"Yeah. But hey, at least I was young enough to still be considered a good person," he joked, spreading his large wings and giving them a flap to propel himself off the bed.

"Dream, honey, I made breakfast! Come get it!" Dream's mom poked her head in through the doorway, staring right through George as if he didn't exist.

And he didn't, at least not in her world. Unless George made his presence known, nobody but Dream would know where he was.

"Yeah, mom, I'll be right out, just give me a minute." She nodded, leaving. George smiled with amusement, not used to being invisible to the world.

"Are any of your friends 18 yet? I'd like to meet their angels too!"

"Um... my friend Sapnap turns 18 in two months... oh, Bad is 18, but he has a guardian devil. Skeppy is pretty chill though, just like to play pranks." George nodded, lowering to the floor and folding his wings back in.

"Oh, ok." He paused for a moment, staring at the floor awkwardly. He had no idea what he was doing... "Um... you want to go get that breakfast now?"

"Why, are you hungry?" Dream smirked, crossing his arms.

"Dream. I'm literally dead, I can't be hungry," George retorted. The blond's eyes widened as he realized.

"Oh my god, George I'm so sorry-"

"It's fine!" The angel exclaimed, giggling. "I can technically still eat, if I want to. It's just not a necessary thing." Dream nodded, sighing.

"Right, ok. You would know this better than I would." George smiled, taking Dream's hand and leading him to the door.

"I do. Now go have your birthday breakfast!" He ushered the blond down the stairs and to the kitchen, watching from the sidelines as Dream sat down with his family. They were eating French toast with powdered sugar and maple syrup, which George had to admit, looked heavenly.

Dream caught George staring, smiling at the angel with a short nod. The brunette bit his lip, sighing.

"Mom, dad, drista," Dream caught their attention with a grin. "Meet George." The angel made himself visible, wings spreading out and flapping slowly so he hovered a few inches above the ground.

"Oh!" Dream's mom smiled at George. "You got an angel!" The brunette blushed a bit, feeling rather awkward just floating in front of his human's family. Luckily, Dream noticed his discomfort and nodded at him again, letting him know it was ok to go back invisible.

"Yeah, George is pretty great," Dream glanced back at the angel, seeing George flutter his wings at the praise.

"How old is he? He looks so young..." Dream looked at George for an answer.

"I would've been 21 this year," he whispers. Dream nods sadly.

"He would've been 21 this year," he repeats to his family. They all look a bit shocked at George's age, considering that most guardians were hundreds, if not thousands of years old. George had died just a few years ago.

"He's so young," Dream's mom sighed. "Mm. Well, let him know we're glad you have him." George giggled from his place off to the side, hand covering his mouth.

"He can hear you, mom, he's right there!" Dream grinned, pointing at the seemingly empty space. His mom just shrugged, smiling light-heartedly.

"Alright, well, George is very welcome here. If he wants some French toast, there's plenty for everyone," she offered with a smile. George glanced at Dream for approval.

"C'mere," Dream stabbed a piece of French toast with his fork, holding it up for George. The angel made himself visible- it would be creepy to see the French toast disappear out of thin air. He looked Dream in the eyes, letting the blond feed him a bite of his breakfast.

"Ahem." Dream's dad cleared his throat awkwardly, standing up to clear his plate. Dream and George blushed with embarrassment, realizing how that must've looked. George quickly turned back invisible, groaning softly and putting his head in his hands.

"Alright, well, happy birthday son, and congrats on your guardian. You two already seem to have a... close bond."

"Oh, um, thanks Dad," Dream replied, still a bit red in the face. He didn't know what it was about George that made him act this way. George was silently cursing himself, ashamed for developing such an attachment to his human.

He couldn't help it. Dream was just a few years younger than he was, and he was awfully kind and charming- not to mention handsome. But George wasn't gay, at least, he didn't think so. Although Dream was certainly making him question himself.

Dream was no different. He had always been firmly in the "straight" category- dating girls, having crushes on girls, all of it. He had never once even considered that he could possibly be anything other than straight.

And then George appeared on his bed that morning, and his whole world changed.

The longer George stayed, the better they got to know each other. Dream had learned that George had been planning on going to college for computer science- at least, before he was murdered in that back alley. It was such a horrible thing to think about, how someone like George could be a murder victim.

George didn't seem to mind- after all, he had had almost four years to process his death. And this way, he was able to meet Dream, a man who was like a missing puzzle piece to George.

It was almost like some sort of sick, twisted fate- one boy's premature death led to an unbreakable bond between another boy and his guardian angel. It was too perfect.

But perfect was something George deserved, and his idea of perfect was so close he could practically taste it.

And all of a sudden, he could.

Dream's lips were on his, hand cupping George's cheek with a gentle touch. The angel kissed back without hesitation- this was what he had been wishing for, after all- and both boys had a feeling of pure bliss.

Dream pulled away first- he needed to breath, as much as he didn't want their kiss to end. George was stunned, staring at Dream with wide eyes.

"George..." The blond murmured breathlessly. He pulled the angel closer until George was sitting in his lap, legs straddled around Dream's waist.

"Yes Dream?"

"You're so beautiful..." He murmured, tucking a stray piece of hair behind George's ear. The angel had a hot blush on his nose and cheeks, smiling shyly. "You know, angel, you might just be the best thing to ever happen to me."

"You think?"

"I do. I just want to kiss you all the time, whenever I look at you I just want to know what you would feel like against me. Call it love, call it whatever you want, but all I know is that I want you." George gasped lightly, grabbing onto Dream's shoulders. They were so close, and they were both desperate to feel the other's lips again.

"Kiss me, Dream." With those words, their lips smashed together, much more passionate and confident than their first kiss. George's hands curled around Dream's neck, one hand resting on the small of his back while the other moved up and tangled in blond locks. Dream nipped at George's bottom lip, requesting access, which the brunette quickly allowed.

This time, when they pulled away, Dream panted heavily, while George just let out a shaky breath, holding onto Dream tighter. He never wanted to let go, and Dream never wanted him to. Neither of them had ever been more happy than they were in this exact moment, and they never wanted this feeling to end.

George had an eternity. Dream had his- presumably- long lifetime, and then, hopefully, the rest of eternity with George. They had always been written in the stars, fates intertwined with a silver loop. Truly, there had never been anyone more made for each other than Dream and George.
