cat and dog

What am I doing with my life

I'm so ashamed of myself 😭🖐

3rd Person P.O.V.

George yawned, arching his back as he stretched. His long, skinny tail flicked back and forth with annoyance, glaring at the night sky outside his window.

He never did sleep well at night, considering how he was partially nocturnal and all. For a moment, George thought about giving Niki a call, but figured she was probably still sleeping.

George sighed, rolling over and curling up into a ball, closing his eyes to take a short nap. Soon enough, he was back asleep- being part cat did have its upsides, after all.

George woke again, this time to a blaring alarm that made his ears flatten. He slapped the alarm clock, groaning and slowly getting out of bed. He was not a morning person.

~

Dream wagged his tail absentmindedly, zoning out while making himself some cereal- no milk. It was 6 am, not that Dream was complaining. He was naturally happy and easy going, due to him being part golden retriever. He was friendly and affectionate, making him pretty popular around school.

It was the first day of the new semester, and Dream had a brand new schedule- which meant new people! The very thought got Dream's tail wagging faster, he loved new people! Hopefully, he would make some new friends.

~

George grumbled quietly, walking down the hallway to his first class. He had a new schedule, since the semester had ended last week and he was now in semester two. He hated changing classes, knowing he would have to meet new people.

And George didn't like meeting new people.

New people liked to stare, they liked to point and whisper and laugh at him because he was small and cat-like. Being a cat boy in a world where dog boys and cat girls were the norm sucked, to say the least.

At least he wasn't alone. George knew of a few dog girls and another cat boy at his school, but he didn't know any of them personally.

Actually, George barely knew anybody at school. He was friends with Niki, and that was pretty much it. Occasionally he would be greeted in the halls by a freshman, a mousy brown terrier named Tubbo. Tubbo was usually accompanied by either Tommy or Ranboo, neither of which paid George any mind.

George was almost at his new class, which was just a basic history class that he didn't bother to learn the name of because he didn't care.

He looked up, spotting the other cat boy at his school, Eret. Eret was pretty popular, he really owned being a cat boy and people took notice, so much so that he had gained a bit of an online following as well. George was a bit jealous of Eret, knowing he could never be quite as confident in himself as the other.

George forced his gaze back down, trudging into history and taking a seat toward the back, tail twitching jealously. He put his head down, sighing softly.

George's ears perked up when he heard somebody sit next to him, followed by a rhythmic thumping which he recognized to be somebody's tail wagging. He looked up, eyeing the boy sitting to his right.

"Hi! I'm Dream, who are you?" The boy introduced, a large, goofy grin on his face.

"George," the feline murmured, tail swishing behind him.

"Oh, I like your accent!"

"Thanks..." Dream tilted his head, nose twitching as he leaned a bit closer to George.

"You wanna be partners?" He questioned, gesturing at the whiteboard assignment. George glanced at it, sighing.

"Sure, alright." Dream nodded excitedly, both of them completing the assignment. Being as it was their first day of that class, it was fairly easy, and Dream spent most of the time rambling on about random topics, without asking for too much input from George. The brunette didn't mind, in fact he felt a certain connection with the golden boy.

He wasn't sure what it was about Dream that made him feel at ease. Perhaps it was his easy going, friendly personality that melded perfectly against George's short temper and quietness, or possibly it was just some sort of fate. Either way, they got along well.

It had been a few weeks since the new semester started, and George and Dream's friendship had really blossomed. Dream introduced George to his friends, and George introduced them to Niki. The two friend groups were seamlessly melded into one.

It was yet another sleepless night at George's house, the feline tossing and turning before finally deciding to suck it up and call.

But this time, he wasn't planning on calling Niki.

"Hello?" A drowsy, yet content voice answered.

"Hi Dream."

"Georgie! Why are you calling so late, it's like... 3 am?" The retriever asked, voice soft but still full of its usual inflections.

"Can't sleep," George mumbled truthfully, sighing.

"Oh, well," Dream hummed. "You could come over to my place, I guess. If you want."

"Yeah?"

"Sure! I make a pretty good pillow, y'know." George giggled, getting up and grabbing his keys.

"Alright, you've convinced me," he smiled, two sharp fangs peeking past his lip. "Be there in 5." And with that, they hung up, George already getting in his car.

At Dream's house, George was always a bit nervous for some reason. He had an entire family of dogs, even his mom and sister. They were all retrievers, some golden, some yellow labs, but all retrievers. George felt a pang of jealousy, knowing that Dream's family didn't care about stereotypical roles. He wished his own family was like that.

George was startled out of his thoughts when Dream wrapped his arms around him, head ducking down to rest on George's shoulder.

"Georgie~" he murmured breathily. "Can we go to bed now?"

"Mhm." They went to Dream's room, the golden boy climbing straight into bed, scooting over and patting the empty space next to him. George was hesitant, but Dream's puppy eyes were incredibly convincing. They laid there awkwardly, ample space between them.

"C'mere." Dream pulled George into his chest, the smaller boy curling up out of habit. His head rested on Dream's chest comfortably, with the added comfort of the golden boy scratching between his ears.

"Mmm..." George hummed, a soft purr escaping his chest. Dream was right, he did make a good pillow- and the taller boy was benefited too, George's consistent purrs easily lulled them both to sleep.

Dream woke up to find the sun in his eyes, a warmth against his side. George was happily basking in the sunbeam, curled into Dream's side. They didn't have school, so the retriever decided to let George sleep. He looked so peaceful and relaxed, and he knew the feline needed his sleep.

Dream's tail thumped against the wall, one arm draped over George's small torso, holding the boy close to him. George was a light sleeper- most cats were, it was just biological- and when he felt Dream wrap an arm around him, he was immediately on alert, jerking up with wide eyes.

"Hi Georgie," the blond smiled, eyes crinkling. George relaxed, allowing himself to curl back into Dream's side.

"Hi," he murmured back, a bit pink in the face from his small freak out. "Sorry..." Dream just nuzzled George's neck, humming softly.

"It's ok! I just didn't expect you to wake up so quickly," he chuckled, a soft wheeze to his voice.

"Yeah... I liked sleeping with you, though." There was a short pause, the smug grin on Dream's face matching with George's scowl.

"Oh~?"

"Shut up! You're such an idiot, obviously I didn't mean it like that..." The brunette crossed his arms defensively, turning away with a short scoff.

"George~" Dream teased, sharp teeth bared in his shit-eating grin. George shook his head, moving to get up.

"You know what, I'm going home-!" He yelped when a pair of arms pulled him back, cuddling into Dream's chest. "Ugh, I hate you."

"You love me!" George shook his head, squirming in the golden retriever's hold. "George..." Dream pouted, tilting his head and giving his best puppy dog eyes. The feline grumbled quietly, rolling his eyes.

"You're so clingy!" George smiled, shaking his head. "But I'll cuddle with you, I guess..." Dream pressed his nose to George's forehead, smiling.

"Thank you Georgie~"
