The sky was embraced by the pitch-black color of the night. The wind was howling like the wolves at a full-moon, icy breeze feeling like cutting the skin of those that didn't hug themselves enough with the warm material of a coat.

Usually, on days like these, times before midnight, people would either sleep, or sit in their cozy and safe houses, wrapped into their soft blankets, as they would drink from their hot chocolate, perhaps watch some relaxing movie.

That's what they should do.

Because outside, it isn't safe.

Not as long he is around.

There's only one main rule in Red Hills. Never go out at night. Stay at home.

But people, sometimes just don't listen to rules. They prefer to risk it and show oh how brave they are. Another reason in this scenario could be that, people don't want to get limited, to get controlled by fear. Thus, they ignore the rules, and decide to do what they want.

And that's exactly what the 36-year-old Michael Daves did on that one night, on the 31th of October, 2018.

Ignoring the rules, people's warnings & advice, Michael, a simple, single delivery man, decided to spend the late night by doing what everyone was fearing of doing.

Visiting V's forest.

The leaves crunched underneath his feet as he stepped on them, freezing hands tucked deeply into his pockets. He was taking the dark path, which was only being lightened up by some minor, long-distanced, and weak gas lamps.

To the left, there was a wide, empty field. To the right, the forest. The wind kept howling, and the soulless, spooky atmosphere would make any young, insecure child cry and run away, as it would be feeling unsafe. Just like Michael.

But heck, he wasn't- he wasn't a coward. He didn't want to get intimated, he thought while scrunching his nose, being confident. He huffed and kept walking, however, a little more tensed up than before, before a thought crossed his mind.

Tomorrow, I'm going to tell all of my friends that I walked next to V's forest, and nothing happened to me! a sudden enthusiastic, motivational and proud push made him smile a little, and walk faster. I'll just walk to that gas-lamp over there, and then back to my car.

Little did he know, he wouldn't arrive at his car anymore.

Because the moment he stepped too close to the forest, he already signed his death-contract.

Because V, was a hunter.

V does not sleep at night.

Especially not when there are intruders next to his territory.

Michael stopped his tracks. He frowned. Slowly, his head turned to look back, as he thought that he heard something. Something fast, rather silent, but swift. Something that got carried by the wind, but- he furrowed his eyebrows more as he didn't see anything that could raise his suspicion. he couldn't really define what he heard.

And there it was again. The same sound.

But this time, accompanied by Michael's loud cry.

"ARGH—!! FUCK!!" he shouted, looking down at his leg that got shot by an arrow, the tip of it digging deeply into his flesh, which caused blood to splatter. The area around the arrow immediately reddened with his own, pained blood. Michael stumbled down as he couldn't stand with his leg no longer.

Slowly, with a pained whimper, he sat down on the ground, holding his injured leg, a painful expression crossing his old face. He inhaled sharply as he looked at the arrow, mind, rushed with panicking adrenaline, debating on how to act in a situation like this.

But there was no time to think.

Another arrow, once again shot from the forest's side, hit Michael again, this time hitting his left arm. Michael shouted even louder than before, he started to cry as he was heavily panting.

"F-Fuck, I-I need to get out of here!! I-I'm o-out of t-this s-shit!" his extremely trembling voice muttered through his uneasy breathing, as he decided to risk it all, and crawl the path back, with all the remaining strength he had.

He would have succeeded in making seven, maybe up to eight crawls, if not the sudden grip on his collar from behind. Michael flinched and yelped, feeling his injured body getting dragged to the opposite direction of where he wanted to go, Michael being forced to a sitting position as being dragged backwards.

Into the forest.

As soon as he realized that, panting loudly and heavily, he widened his eyes.

"No— N-no!" he shouted, gripping the culprit's veiny, strong hand which was around his collar, trying to tear it away. But it was no use.

Miserable crying and begs of little no's, were Michael's last heard words from the world outside of the darkness. Then, he was gone, disappearing with the culprit, deep, deep into the dark, scary woods.

V was not asleep.

His cautious eyes never were.
