Cyberbully

Brooklyn's POV

I gently put my phone back on the nightstand before laying back on my bed and curled up a bit. My phone kept buzzing, but I ignored it. I just wanted it to stop. But it didn't. My phone just kept on buzzing, and buzzing and buzzing to the point where it fell off the nightstand. It kept buzzing of course.

But the sound soon drowned out by Nick as he came out of the bathroom and walked over to the bed as he said, "Nothing like a hot shower after a two show day, and tomorrow's our day off so that means hello sleep, my old friend." when Nick finished talking my phone of course buzzed. "Why is your phone on the floor. And why is it buzzing like crazy? Aren't you going to pick it off of the floor before it breaks or something?" Nick asked. I sighed before picking it off of the floor. That's when I saw the what was on the screen and I lost it right then and there.

"Is everything alright lil sis?" Nick asked.

"Fine, everything is just peachy," I replied quietly as I wiping away my tears.

"You're not fine," Nick said seriously. When I didn't answer him he took my phone and before I could stop him it was too late.

"Who's been sending you these messages on Instagram?" He asked.

"I don't know," I replied quietly as I looked down at my hands. "It's nothing to worry about."

"Nothing!" He exclaimed. "How can you call this nothing?! This "nothing" is called cyber bullying Brooklyn." After Nick took a few moments to calm down he asked, "How long?"

"A few days," I whispered.

"And you didn't tell me?" I could hear how hurt he was over the fact I didn't tell him.

"There was nothing to tell." That's when I felt Nick grab my hand and looked over my arm before checking the other one. "What're you doing?!" I asked while pulling away.

"Making sure you didn't do anything to yourself," he replied before grabbing my pill bottle and shook it a few times. "Sounds about right. Ok now that I know you didn't do anything to yourself talk to me."

"Goodnight," I said before turning on my stomach and put my face in the pillow to hide the tears that I couldn't hold back anymore.

"Brooklyn, ignore it. The haters are gonna hate, and there's not much you can do about it. So just"

"I swear if you say "shake it off" I'm never talking to you again."

"The Brooklyn I know would never pass up the opportunity to quote a Taylor Swift song," Nick said in a matter of fact tone. I didn't reply. I didn't do anything. I only laid there on my bed. I know I'm probably acting like a little kid and may look stupid. But this, this is just. Sometimes I wonder what's the point of me being here.

That's when I felt Nick lie down in the bed and pulled me close. I turned around to face him. But I didn't look him in the eyes. I did however burry my face in his chest because I didn't want Nick of all people to see me like this.

"You're an amazing, talented, smart, funny, and beautiful girl Brook. Remember that," Nick whispered.

"You're only saying that cause you're my twin," I mumbled quietly.

"Well, that and because it's the truth," he replied. "Just ignore the haters."

"Easy for you to say," I mumbled. "You're not the one living in a shadow." it then hit me what I just said. I promised myself I would never tell anyone that. But of course I had to go and open my big mouth. Can this night get any worse?

"You're not living in,"

"Yes I am!" I cut him off. "I love you and all but sometimes it's really hard being your twin sometimes. In high school, nobody knew my name and just called me "Nick's little sister"."

"Well, you are technically my little sister."

"By a minute and a half!" I yelled. "Get that through your thick head Nicholas!"

"Brooklyn." Nick said sweetly. "You're you, and that's all that matters." He then lightly kissed the top of my head. I smiled softly before snuggling in closer.

________

Sky's POV

I kept on scrolling trough Instagram. Trying to figure out who keeps on saying these things to Brooklyn on her posts. But so far I came up dry.

Brooklyn is the sweetest girl I have ever met, and she doesn't deserve this kind of hate. No one does.

"Sky!"

"YEah?!" I asked popping my head up.

"My eyes are up here," Tiffany said while gesturing to her eyes. Shit, I almost forgot we were having lunch together. "You do know it's rude to be on your phone while on a date, right?" she asked in a sweet voice, with the look in her eyes. "So, why don't you put this away." she placed her hand over my phone and pushed it down a bit. "And tell me about your day?

"Well, right now I'm with this pretty girl with blonde hair and blue eyes," I replied with my best smirk. But all I really saw was light brown hair, and one of a kind blueish grey eyes that drive me crazy. All I saw right now was Brooklyn.

"Are you flirting with me?" Tiffany asked with the cute little smile that lights up her eyes. But, it wasn't pulled together somehow. Tiffany didn't have any freckles that dot her face like Brooklyn does.

"Maybe I am, maybe I'm not," I replied. Just then my phone buzzed. I looked down at it to see Brooklyn had posted something on Instagram. I ended up looking at it, and it was a post about how she wasn't going to go on social media for awhile. I wanted to say something but the comments were disabled. Her DM box was blocked off. I saw the same post on her Snapchat, Facebook, and Twitter.

When I went to text her I heard Tiffany say, "Sky, the food's ready. Can you go get it please?"

"Sure," I replied before putting my phone down on the table and then got up to get the food.

No one's POV

When Sky left the table, Tiffany waited a few seconds to make sure Sky was gone before she grabbed his phone. Lucky for her it was unlocked, and the redhead was about to text Brooklyn.

Quickly typing away Tiffany sent a somewhat long text to Brooklyn through Sky's phone. When Brooklyn answered the blonde girl kept going at it before sending the final blow. She then quickly deleted the texts before putting Brook's number into her phone for later.

When Tiffany noticed Sky was coming back she put his phone back the way it was and acted like nothing even happened.

Brooklyn's POV

"C'mon Brooklyn, just open the door," Nick said while knock on the bathroom door. I only started to shake more as I hugged me knees to my chest and cried. Coming on this stupid tour was a mistake.

"Brooklyn," Nick said in a soft and calm tone. "Open the door."

"Why?" I chocked out.

"Because, if he can't see what an amazing girl you are, then he's an asshole for letting the most amazing girl ever go. You're the one that got away," Nick replied. "You were way out of his league."

"Was I?" I asked as more tears spilled down my checks. "Was I really?"

"Yes," Nick replied seriously. "You're amazing Brooklyn. And beautiful, and smart, and hella funny, and just....the strongest person I've ever met. You've already been through so much. I'm so sorry this happened."

I can't believe he'd say the things he texted. Here I was thinking he was a sweet and all. But it was so fake. I hate fake people more than life sometimes.

"Why am I even here?" I though out loud.

"Here on tour?" Nick asked.

"Why was I even born?" I asked. "What's the point of me being here? I just...I just feel like leaving sometimes. No one would notice anyways. It's not like anyone would care if I was here or not.

"I care!" Nick exclaimed. "Mom, and Dad would care! Dylan, Zoey, Julia, Alex, Fallon! They care. Katie, our family care. Little girls and boys who look up to you in the dace world, they'd care a lot too. Everyone on the tour-"

"Not everyone."

"You know what I mean," Nick replied. "People care about you Brook. Just because you feel like you don't belong anywhere doesn't mean it's true. You matter, Brooklyn. Just because a few haters, and that little son of a bitch doesn't give a damn, doesn't mean you don't matter."

I didn't say anything because in all honesty I couldn't take life anymore. Too bad Nick put my pills in a lock box and has made it very clear that he is now in charge of giving me my pills until this passes over.

"You're worth it Brooklyn," Nick whispered.

"Am I though? Am I really worth it?" I asked while breaking down more. "Nick, face it. I'm not worth it. I'm not worth anything in fact. And that's the cold hard truth."

You're not your make up, not your clothes
An anonymous face no one knows
You're not a skin color, a pretty face
The number of inches around your waist
There's so much in your head
That nobody knows
So many things you never show.

"Nick," I groaned in annoyance. I wasn't in the mood for this. I just wanted to be alone. Why else would I have locked myself in the bathroom, and be sitting on it while crying my eyes out. But he ignored me (as per usual) and continued.

You're more than labels
More than pain
Baby you're more than your mistakes
And you've got something to say

When will you realize
Baby you're worth it
Don't have to do anything to earn it
Baby you're perfect
You deserve it
When will you see what I see
And realize you're worth it

You're not a burden, not a waste
You're not a copy, can't be replaced

I let out the smallest laugh at "not a copy", I technically am to a certain extent. But that didn't mean I was still dead on the inside.

"You're worth it Brooklyn. Remember that," Nick said in a sweet tone.

______

Sky's POV

"Hey Jacob, what's up?" I asked.

"Nothing new," Jacob replied harshly before walking out of the elevator. Harsh much?

I shrugged it off before walking to the theater. There's only a few more days left I San Antonio before Hudson. Usually I wouldn't want to leave a city after staying for two weeks. But this time just seems different. With the hole Brook and Ben thing; meeting Tiffany and everything getting turned up side.

It's mixed however because I really Lomé Tiffany. But, every time I think of her all I see is Brooklyn.

Brooklyn and her one of a kind eyes that just drives a guy crazy. Her cute freckles, and that smile.

I shook it off before it went too far. Ben likes her and I like Tiffany. End of story.

Speaking of Brook she walked right past me on the sidewalk.

"What?" I asked playfully. "No, hello, hi? What's up? Not even a "move out of the way idiot. I'm walking here"."

Brook didn't answer and continued to walk at the pace she was at. I then walked a little faster to catch up with her. So now we were walking side by side. That's when I noticed she had her EarPods on.

"Hello? Anyone home?" I asked while tapping her on the shoulder. Still no answer.

I then stepped in front of her. She stopped walking. Looked up for a slit second before pushing past me. What's this girl's problem today?

I ran up to her and said, "Hey Fun-"

"Don't ever call me that again," Brook cut off before walking away. I stopped walked and stood right there on the sidewalk.

Brook loves it when I calm her "Fun Size". Maybe she's just in a mood. Right? Yeah....she's just in a mood that'll pass in a few days.

When I got to the theater everyone barely looked at me. It's early and everyone is probably tired.

When rehearsal started the first thing we did was brush up act 2. In other words the opening scene to the end of King of New York. Brooklyn was going on for Katherine which I actually enjoyed.

Stephanie is an amazing Katherine, but I love watching Brook act and sing more then she usually does. I know sooner or later she'll have to go on. And boy, will she be amazing.

"Hey, I heard they arrested Crutchie, did they get Jack too?" Brook acted out.

"The Delanceys are spreadin' a story he took it on the lam first sight of the cops," I replied. Brook only nodded slightly before looking down at the ground. Looks like someone is still a little off.

The sene went on and for some reason everyone seemed a little tense around me. And I could feel Nick burning a hole through then back of my head when.

______

"Hey Ben? What's up with everybody today?" I asked as we walked out of the rehearsal room.

"Don't act like you don't know," Ben replied before walking away. Know? Know what? I don't know anything!

All I know is that something happened because for some reason everyone hates me!?

I wasn't sure what was going on but I was going to get to the bottom of this. And I knew just who to ask.

Josh's POV

I was walking back to my hotel room to catch some Zs before the show when all of a sudden something yanked me by the shirt, and into a dark closet. I was about to scream for my life when a hand went over my mouth and I heard someone say, "Don't scream. You're fine. I just want answers."

The light turned on and that's when I saw Sky was the one who yanked me into the closet.

"What the hell is your problem?" I exclaimed.

"Funny, I say the same thing about you."

"Wait, I'm not supposed to be talking to you," I replied while crossing my arms.

"Why?!" Sky yelled. "Why is everyone acting like I robbed a bank?"

"Don't act like you don't know what you did," I replied seriously.

"That's just it!" Sky yelled very loudly. "What is this thing I did!?"

"Stop acting like you didn't send Brook a text saying how she's a fat and ugly little bitch who should go did in a hole! When in fact she is the most beautiful girl I've ever met! She's smart, and funny, and amazingly talented at everything she does. Do you even know what she's been through because I'll tell you it's more than you're small minded brain can imagine! Nick told us she got bullied though middle school to high school! To the point where it was so bad she used to cut herself when she was fourteen! Let's not forget the fact she almost died when she was born! She's been in and out of hospitals, therapy, and doctors appointments! And somehow even after all the shit she's been through her smile is still as bright as ever!? Now some bitch is harass her o. Social media and has been sending her these texts messages about how she should go die!" I yelled. It then caught up to my brain what I had just said.

This is why people shouldn't tell me stuff. I'm a blabber mouth when it comes to secrets. Or just stuff in general.

"WHAT!?!?" Sky yelled very loudly. I'm pretty sure I just lost my hearing. And that's saying a lot. "I never told Brook any if that stuff!"

"Of course you did," I replied sharply. "Right here I have photo proof." I got my phone and showed Sky the screen shot Nick sent everyone (except Sky) of the text message.

Sky took my phone and looked over it a few times before looking back up at me and said, "I never sent this."

"Prove it," I replied. That's when Sky got his phone and showed me the last text he ever sent Brook.

Sky: Hey Fun Size, get off your lazy butt and get it down to the pool ASAP! Some of the guys and I are heading down now. Tell Nick to get his butt down here ASAP too!

Brooklyn: Nick is already half way there.

Sky: and you are too, right???????

Brook: nah, I'd rather watch Mama Mia.

Brook: besides, why would I want to go to the pool with an idiot like you?

Sky: cause I'm fun 😉

Brook: whatever 🙄 I'm watching Mama Mia and you can't stop be Skybell! So HA!

I looked at the date this was sent almost a week ago. I looked up at Sky, then the text, then back at Sky, then the text again.

"See, I'm innocent!" Sky said. "Plus, I'd never say something like that to. Brooklyn!"

"Well, she and everyone else thinks you did."

"Well, I didn't and now it's time to get to the bottom of this."

"We need to get to the bottom of this," I said. Sky looked a little shocked at what I had just said. "Look bud, you're my brother and I believe what you're saying is true. So it looks like we've got a mystery to solve."

"Thanks Josh, I owe you one."

"Yeah, Yeah, Yeah," I replied. "Now, is there anyone out side of the cast you know that would do something like this to Brook?" I asked.

"Only person I know besides everyone in the cast is Tiffany an-"

"There's a guy, girl. I mean there's our girl," I cut off.

"Tiffany would-"

"Tiffany," I said in a mocking tone. "Has you wrapped around her little finger. You're oblivious to the fact that Tiffany is the one doing this."

"What makes you say that?"

"You've been spending all your free time with her, she's obviously fake, she's not as sweet and innocent as you think she might be, and....she's going to call you asking if you two lovebirds can hang out. Even though you spent your hole day off with her instead of sleeping. And you love sleeping in!" I said.

Just then Sky's phone ringed and just as I guessed Tiffany was calling him. Hey, maybe is this whole Broadway thing doesn't work out I should become a investigator or something.

"Since when did you get so smart?" Sky asked. I only shrugged. We then starting making a plan to se if Tiffany really is the cyber bully. Sky of course will take her to some coffee shop and I'll nab the Tiffany's phone and BAM Shook will be a couple.

Sky's POV

I was shaking the whole time I was with Tiffany. I still couldn't wrap my head around the fact that the girl sitting in front of me was the one causing all of Brooklyn's pain, turning the whole cast against me, and well....the first two are enough.

It seemed like forever until Tiffany opened her phone. Of course I had to take some matters into my own hands to make that happen.

"Answer it," I said with my best smile. Thankfully, Tiffany didn't suspect anything and answered her text. Looks like being an actor has its perks.

Before she could answer Josh (who was dressed up as a old man) (while I want to know where he got the beard, I also don't want to know) cane by and "accidental" spilled water on her.

"Sorry miss," Josh said. "The bones ain't what they used to be."

"It's whatever. I'm going to clean this off," Tiffany said before getting up form her set. "Don't go anywhere hot stuff."

"Why thank you miss," Josh said while winking at her. I had to try so hard not to laugh at that. But it also made me a little uncomfortable that she was calling me "hot stuff". Even though - focus Sky!

When Tiffany was out of sight Kosh quickly sat down and started looking through her phone. I went over to look over his shoulder and sure enough there was plenty of proof that Tiffany is our cyber bully.

Josh screen shot as much as he could and sent it to my and his phone before covering up the tracks. But what was more unbelievable than anything else was the text messages on Tiffany's phone to Brook. She must've gotten Brooks number off of mine.

"Why would Tiffany say those things about Brook?" I asked, still a little in shock.

"Maybe because she feels like Brook is a threat to whatever you guys are," Josh replied in a matter of fact tone. "You two are pretty close or we're pretty close. And it's obvious that-"

"Don't say it," I cut off.

"Brook likes you," Josh finished. "Open your eyes, Sky! Why else would Brook hate your guts! Haven't you ever just once noticed the way she looks at you! And I know you like her too. So why are you even with Tiffany when you obviously hate this girl!"

"Because someone else likes Brooklyn!" I blurred out.

Josh's eyes went wide. Not the kind where you're shocked, but the kind where you know something. "What do you know Joshua," I asked in a stern voice.

"I don't know anything about Ben liking Brook was only a failed plan to get you to make a move on Brook if that's if that's what you're asking Skylar."

Wow, what was a lot easier then "WHAT?! What do you mean Ben doesn't like Brooklyn!?" I yelled.

"Well I've gotta go," Josh said while getting up from the seat. But I put a hand on his shoulder and pushed down.

"You're not going anywhere Joshua until you spill it," i said.

"Sorry Skylar, but my lips are sealed," Josh replied. Ok, I don't know when, and I don't know how, but I will get to the bottom of this once I clear up this whole Tiffany mess.

Brooklyn's POV

I was sitting in the gazebo thinking about life. And no, not my performing arts life. My personal life. All I saw was one big mess. If I take out the acting and dancing part of me, all I get is Brooklyn Masson. You're everyday run of the mill girl who can't get her life together. A girl who's had many surgeries, health problems that are more annoying than a bug bite, depression and anxiety that gets bag as frick when everything else is messed up and....

"There you are," a voice said. I looked up to see the last person I want to deal with right now. I took a deep breath in before standing up to leave. When I walked past Sky he gently grabbed my hand and said, "It was from Tiffany."

"What're you talking about?" I muttered under my breath.

"That text that "I" sent you. That was from Tiffany," he said. "I'd never in a million years say that kind of stuff about you," he said sweetly.

"Should probably get back to the hotel," was all I said before walking off. But I didn't get that far because Sky caught up to me and held me by the shoulders so I wouldn't leave.

"Brooklyn, just give five minutes to explain everything. That's it. Then you can hate me for the rest of your life." when I gave him a small nod he said, "Bottom line is that, you're the most amazing girl I've ever met. When ever I was with Tiffany all I saw was you. The only reason I was even with that girl was because I don't have all the details yet, but I thought someone else liked you, and that's when I met Tiffany and....I'm sorry I ended up hurting you. I didn't even know it until now."

It took me a few moments to process what Sky had just said. "How do I know you're not making this up?" I asked quietly. Sky then got his phone and showed me different screen shots of the texts I got from someone. a picture of the Instagram account that has been sending DM's and comments. Lastly out last text conversation.

"Now do you believe me?" he asked. Again, this was too much to take in. Yet, I was actually happy that he didn't say those things about me.

"How did you-"

"Long story," he cut off. "I care about you Brooklyn. Maybe more than I let on. Look, what I'm trying to say is-"

"Sky don't," I cut him off. I knew what was about to happen. "You can do so much better than a stupid girl like me," I said quietly while keeping my eyes on the ground.

"You're not stupid. I'm the one who didn't see a good thing when I had it," he replied sweetly. Sky then gently moved his hands to the back of my neck and slowly lifted up my head so now I was looking at him right in the eyes. "I like you Brooklyn Masson, I like you a lot. I don't care if you're my friend's little sister. I like you and that's all that matters."

I was speechless, completely speechless. That did not just happen. This is just another crazy dream, and I'm going to wake up in the hospital from a surgery, or from hitting my head. Or just. Why am I not waking up. C'mon Brook, wake up from this dream. There's no way this is happing.

When I realized I wasn't waking up I knew this was happing. This was real. All of it was real. Ok Brooklyn, stop listening to your head and listen to your heart. I took a few moments to hear what my heart was saying.

"Sky, I have a secret to tell you," I whispered softly.

"Yeah, what's that?" he asked with that stupid smile.

"I have a thing for dorky redheads," I replied. Let me tell you I've never seen a smile as big as the one Sky had in those few seconds. "And there just so happens to be one standing right in front of me." after a few moments I started to feel my self slowly close the gap between Sky and I. My hands went onto his shoulders, as I closed my eyes. And you can guess what happened next.

We kissed just as the lawn sprinklers went off. I let go in shock at the burst of water, and started laughing a little bit. When I looked back at Sky the next thing I knew his lips were back on mine. He moved his hands to my waist and pulled my closer. I giggled a little as I leaned up to get a better angle.

This boy is so much taller than me it's not even funny. But it sure is cute. And yes, I felt the sparks fly. When I felt like I couldn't breath anymore I pulled back, but I kept my hands where they were.

"Will you be my girlfriend," Sky asked quietly.

"You may not have kissed me in the pouring rain. But you took away the pain and I felt the sparks fly," I replied.

"So is that a yes?" he asked hopefully.

"Yes," I replied.
