Chance of A Lifetime

Brooklyn's POV

"Ok boys and girls, remember, some people from Broadway are coming by the studio to look for some dancers for their shows today," our dance teacher reminded us. Now this was really exciting and nerve wracking at the same time. Not only do I have to dance a small piece, but I also have to sing something. I then had to wonder how Nick did this at such a young age.

"I'm so excited," Dylan said as we all stretched out. The other girls agreed, but I didn't say anything. I love acting, but I love dancing more. But also I had to start thinking about what I'd do after the dance team. Broadway is the biggest stage out there and well...Yeah I don't think I can do this. I then looked at my anklet Nick gave me way back when. Just looking at it made me feel better.

"Brook," Julia said loudly. I looked up and then she said, "You spaced out on us again."

"Sorry, I'm just kinda nervous. You know I'm not the greatest with auditions," I replied.

"You'll be fine," Julia reassured. "Just go out there and dance your heat out." After a few hours it was time. Dylan, Zoey, Julia, Alex and I were all in different groups. Alex and Zoey's group had already gone, and now Dylan and Julia's group was in. And I was warming up.

"Hey Brook."

I jumped at the sound of my name. "Oh, hey Logan," I replied.

"Did I scare you?" he asked with a smirk.

"No. It's just that you don't really talk to me that much," I said. This was true. After Nick went all big brother mood on Logan he never talked to me....until now. But I'm not sure if I like him like that anymore.

Before anything else was said my group was called in and we were all taught the combo, and for a good fifteen minutes that's what we did while the judges cut us off one by one till there were only five left. And I was in that five who made it. I was the first they asked to stay and well....here goes nothing.

"Now, you are Brooklyn Masson, correct?" the lady judge asked.

"Yes," I replied. Ok Brook, keep it short and simple.

"Why don't you tell us about yourself."

"I'm eighteen years old and have been dancing since I was four. I did gymnastics until I was eleven, But I never stopped tumbling. I can sing, and act as well as play the piano, guitar and drums. I'm a four time national winner. At this studio I'm told I'm the best Free style dancer here. Free style here is just another word for the dancers choreograph our own dance, which falls into the lyrical. I'm know as the Tornado because I can to a bunch of turns and flips without getting dizzy, which is also the name of the dance that won me my first national title, and the one I'll be doing for you today," I said.

After that they asked me to sing. Watch What Happens from Newsies. I sang the song and then they gave me a scrip had me read a few lines. Which was also from Newsies. I started getting worried since it's pretty obvious what they're casting for. But I did see a few other scrips from different shows.

"Let me rephrase," I said. I was reading off the scrip they had given me and I looked into the camera as I acted out the scene. "Will the richest and most powerful men I New York give the time of day to a gang of kids who haven't got a nickel to their names."

"You don't have to be insulting," one of the casting directors said. "I've got a nickel."

___________

Well, it's been a few weeks and I was offered something. Believe it or not I got Sniper, in Newsies on tour. Which is amazing, but I'm not sure if I'm going to take it. Sure, I'll get to be with Nick again, but it also means I'll have to leave New York, the dance team, Dylan, Zoey, Julia, and Alex. But most of all, I'll be stuck on a touring show with Sky!

Yeah apparently he is the one from that very weird dream. So it's not like I can ignore him, I mean I'd be in the same show as him and living on the road with him for who knows how long. But this is a chance of a lifetime so....

Ok Brooklyn calm down, just make a pro and con list. I grabbed a note book and a pencil and started writing.

Pros

I get to be with Nick

I'll be on a touring Broadway show

Make lots of friends and memories

Meet lots of new people

Chance of a lifetime

cons

Sky

I'll have to leave the dance team

I'll miss the girls too much

Away from my friends and even further from my family

Traveling with who knows how many boys

Sky

"You put Sky twice." I then jumped and saw Dylan was sitting next to me. "And if you ask me being on tour with Sky is a pro." If only Dylan knew the crazy dream I had.

"Please, that's a con," I replied while looking at her for a moment

"How is that a con?" she asked as if I was completely out of my mind. "I mean think about it. From what I remember he's funny, sweet, has dimples, and is seriously the second cutest red head I've ever seen."

"Who's the first?" I asked.

"Ed Sheeran of course," Dylan said as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. "But other than that Sky is really cute. After all, he is a Newsie" she said.

"Your fan girl is showing," I said deadpanned. "Plus, if you ask me he looks like a player. Now, can we please stop talking about this. I have a choice to make here."

"Which is.....?" Dylan asked while leaning closer to me.

"I'm not doing it," I said.

"WHAT!" she yelled. "Brooklyn, this a chance of a life time, plus how many people get to be in a touring Broadway show. Not to mention be around tons of cute boys 24/7, plus have their twin brother there as well. It's like the total package."

I thought for a moment. Ok being on tour with Nick will be good, and it is a chance of a life time. But the toursies are a cast in a nut shell, and do I really want to deal with that?

Just then my phone rang and it was the people from Broadway wanting to know if I'm going to take the part or not. I picked up the phone, took one look at my list, then Dylan who kept nodding her head. I thought about it and do you know what?

So what I had a weird dream, that doesn't mean it's going to happen. I mean I'm not going to let some dumb boy get in the way of a chance of a life time. With that I said I'd do it before hanging up.

"YAY, I'm so happy that my best friend is going to be in a touring Broadway show," Dylan said as she hugged me.

Just then my phone rang again and this time it was Nick. I had told him about the auditions, but didn't tell him that I got a call or anything. So pretty much everyday he'd call me and ask if I got it.

"Before you ask, they just called and...I didn't get anything. Thanks, I love you too. Ok, bye."

I then hung up the phone and Dylan said, "Why didn't you tell him?"

"Well, Sorry if I want to surprise my twin brother," I replied.

"This weekend," I replied.

"You thinking what I'm thinking?" Dylan asked with a raised eyebrow.

I smile before saying, "You order the usual and I'll tell the girls to get their butts here. We're having a girls night and no one is stopping us."
