In the TARDIS
Lily's Library
THEY'VE BEEN BACK FROM RAXACORICOFALLAPATORIUS for a significant amount of time. And since returning they've all been in Lily's library as she showed them around at all she'd been working on. She was on cloud nine, feeling very proud of herself for what she'd accomplished in such a short time living part-time in the TARDIS.
Those things consisted of mapping out what each section would be- varying from fiction to cookbooks, to books in languages even the TARDIS couldn't translate. That didn't include language learning books which strangely wouldn't translate, allowing its readers to learn the dialect they wished. All organized in alphabetical order by title as a good chunk of the books had no authors- that surprised Lily the first she found out.
Seeing that the complete total of books probably scraped the million mark it wasn't nearly completed. She questioned who was the last to even attempt what she had done to the library. There was not just the books but tons of cleaning and re-organizing the furniture. She kept busy and it was a good distraction from the thoughts of who she was that still swimming around in her head.
Her non-aging, Gwyneth calling her 'The Lone Wolf,' who her birth mum was- she took hold of her locket and fondly remembered what was tucked inside it.
All these worries stayed locked in her mind. She hated worrying about her family and the Doctor and even Jack- who when told she couldn't age hardly batted an eye. He, as well as Rose and the Doctor, sat on sofas in the main sitting room after Lily's tour.
"Didn't think about adding a bar here?" Jack asked her, lounging back on the sofa with his arms stretched along the back.
Lily, who was the only one standing, gave Jack a humorous look. "It's a library, Jack."
"And?" Jack raised a brow and grinned. "Don't want a good cocktail as you read?"
Rose laughed next to him. "So, you're the kind of person that only reads with a drink in their hand?"
He shrugged, hands up. "Everyone has their hobbies."
"What's that?" The Doctor abruptly stood from the chair he was once in and started towards Lily's vintage writing desk, where she left her typewriter and work.
Finding herself flustered that she forgot to put that mess away she followed him, embarrassment laced her voice. "Oh, that's nothing. Really, just," Lily watched helplessly as he picked up some papers and started to read. "Some stuff I've been working on." She nervously scratched the back of her neck. "It's stupid."
Rose called from a few feet away, still on the sofa. "No, it's not!"
Lily sent her a hard look. "Rose."
"She's right."
Lily looks back at the Doctor and tries to not look upset at his words. "I am?" She tried but a soft whine escaped her lips.
He was quick to shake his head. "No," And pointed the papers at Rose. "She is."
Lily understood what he meant and what he said in the past about her writing when he saw her journals. She nodded to the papers he still held. "It's just a bunch of blurbs pasted together." She hugged herself as the self-consciousness rolled in. "Nothing special."
"Let me see." Jack abruptly stood and started towards them. When the Doctor eagerly handed the papers over Lily started to panic at the attention.
"Seriously, I'm still in the planning period."
Jack then let out a low whistle. "Wow, Lils. Beauty and talent?" He looked up at Lily with a cheeky smirk. "You sure you don't want me to take you out sometime?"
Lily felt a blush heat across her nose and cheeks, taking the papers back. "It's really nothing." She tucked them back inside the drawer and took out the notebook she'd been using for all her planning notes and ideas- it was nearly full. "Since I can't exactly write about the Doctor anymore I took everything I loved about those stories and twisted it." Rose had now joined them, reading the now-opened notebook over Lily's shoulder. "It'll be a young adult series." She explained both the Doctor and Jack who gave her their undivided, curious attention. "About a girl on Earth who learns she's a princess from this dying planet. She uses this cuff," She nodded to the Doctor. "The same I saw in one of the TARDIS artifacts rooms, to travel time and space to help save her people."
She paused when she noticed the more she talked about it the more the excitement grew. "Again, I haven't exactly started writing it. Just random passages for practice."
"When will you start?" Jack asked her, eagerly.
She hugged her notebook to her chest. "Hopefully soon."

Later that night, parked on the edge of an abandoned parking lot in London, Lily left the TARDIS kitchen in search of the Doctor. Rose and Jack were currently making a full-blown mess and Lily wanted to seek some help in controlling dinner. She was finding the task quite difficult and had to ask the TARDIS for guidance. Just like before, the flashing lights lead Lily toward her library. "That's odd." She muttered.
After thanking the TARDIS, Lily traveled down to the main level of the library but found it empty. "Doctor?" She called out, surprised the room didn't echo it back. When she saw the Restricted Sections gates opened and a light shining up from the room below. She debated going any further but then she heard the familiar sound of the Doctor's sonic screwdriver. The TARDIS was correct on his location.
So, she disregarded everything the Doctor told her and went through the gates, walking down into the light. Lily saw the Doctor in front of the only book with a glass display case- sonicing the lock. "What are you doing?" She asked, walking up to his side.
By his complete lack of shock at her entrance she guessed he heard her walking in earlier. "Just doing some much-needed maintenance." He answered as he continued his work.
Lily looked at the 'Lone Wolf' book for the second time in her life. At first, she felt nothing when she saw it. This time the hairs on her arms stood straight up. "You never said what's so dangerous about a book?"
The Doctor switched off his sonic to better answer her- looking between the two of them with an amusing glint in his eye and smirk. "I'm not exactly the storyteller in our relationship."
"I don't mind." Lily shook his head and gave his eyes her full attention. "Please tell me."
The Doctor sighed and looked back at the book. "The book comes from my planet, Gallifrey." As he spoke his eyes never left it- his reflection on the glass case. "There was a large family, ranging from elders to infants, called 'The Librarians.' They were the keepers of knowledge. Much like your librarians on Earth, they housed all information and stories in books and scrolls." He closed his eyes as if he was soaking in the memory. "God, their building was fantastic."
She joined him in staring at the book. "Is this one of their stories?"
"A story that all Gallifreyan children grew to fear." He said with a dark chuckle. "The Librarians and the Time Lords started to loathe one another. The former began to retaliate. They wanted the planet as their own and to 'dethrone' the Time Lords." The Doctor furrowed his brows. "No one exactly knows how but they created this book. Legend has it that whoever touches it if they have been chosen, will possess the powers of the Lone Wolf."
Lily swallowed. "What powers?"
A long pause of silence filled the room.
"Powers strong enough to destroy the universe if they wished."
The air strangely got thick and Lily had to concentrate to breathe. "So, it can be anyone who gets these powers?"
The Doctor still only looked at the book as he talked. "No, you have to be a particular person. Gallifreyan blood, a Librarian's DNA, darkness in their heart .." It was his turn to swallow. "When the Time Lords heard of this the council created a race called the Weeping Angels whose sole purpose was to kill the Lone Wolf when they came into power. The book survived the Time War and found its way to Earth somehow. I obtained it and it's been here ever since, safe. No one has become the Lone Wolf and no one ever will. Not on my watch."
Lily could have sworn that after hearing 'the weeping angels' she spaced out. "The Weeping Angels?"
The Doctor turned to her after seeming to recognize the wariness in her voice. "None have been seen since that day in the museum. I've searched but they seemed to vanish." He narrowed her eyes on hers. "There's zero correlation to the angel you met."
Lily's voice shook as she recollected. "Gwyneth called me 'Lone Wolf.' Back in 1869."
"I overheard in the hall." He confessed.
"It's been bothering me ever since." A nervous laugh left her, pointing an accusing finger at the Doctor. "And you said the Weeping Angels?"
The Time Lord was quick to ask her. "Have you seen them since then?"
She took a second to think and then shook her head. "No."
"Exactly. That was a one-time thing. Gwyneth was mistaken." He didn't like how she looked away from him and back at the book. She knew that because he took her shoulders and twisted her back to face him. "You're a good person, Lily." His hands moved up to hold the back of her neck. "You're compassionate and honest and so-" He ceased, and seemed to change his train of thought. "The Lone Wolf is none of those things." Lily understood the words he told her. But she could feel that he wasn't being one hundred percent honest with her. She wondered why.
"Forget it all." He let her go and turned back to the lock, starting to re-secure it with his sonic. "Absolutely nothing for you to worry about."
She wasn't sure if he was finished with the lock before a blinding light surrounded them- pulling her away from him.

- Author's Note -
I did leave this filler with a few 'opening windows'- Lily's writing, more of the Lone Wolf (😉) and what was the Doctor gonna tell Lily she is before pausing??
This filler was so hard to get through. It took me maybe twice as long to write than I normally need. The words just didn't flow well with me. I've also been in a bad mental head space .. but I did it :)
I hope ya'll still enjoyed it- and enjoyed seeing more of what Lily has been working on also a little of the Lone Wolf past revealed. But is that all of it? ;)
Love you guys <3
