23 - Aliens of London (Part V)

Continuing from 'Aliens of London - Part IV'

THEY WERE USHERED INTO A UNMARKED POLICE CAR- "Well, this is posh." Rose commented as she slid into the back seat next to her sister. "If I knew it was going to be like this, being arrested, I would have done it years ago."

"We're not being arrested." The Doctor corrected her, stationary on Lily's other side. "We're being escorted."

Lily furrowed her brows. "Where to?"

"Where'd you think?" he grinned and let out a hearty laugh. "Downing Street."

Rose's jaw dropped. "You're kidding?"

"10 Downing Street?" Lily had to make sure.

"That's the one!" He smiled.

"Oh my god!" Rose started squealing in delight- swatting at Lily's shoulder. "We're going to 10 Downing Street!

"I heard." Lily giggled and looked at the Doctor when Rose ceased hitting her, holding onto her upper arm instead. "How come?"

"Remember that over the years I've visited this planet a lot of times, and I've been, er, noticed."

"And now they need you?" Rose said.

"Like it said on the news. They're gathering experts in alien knowledge. And who's the biggest expert of the lot?"

"Patrick Moore?" Lily smirked.

He gave her an offended look while the car pulled up to a building. "Apart from him."

After getting out where the Doctor waved at various photographers and reporters, the trio was escorted inside 10 Downing Street- maneuvering through crowds of various officials and police officers. Lily and Rose kept their arms linked together as they walked, side by side. They were brought into a room with wooden walls and filled with a copious amount of very official-looking, well-dressed individuals.

Rose squeezed Lily's and the elder sister was amused as the blonde was nearly bouncing on the heels of her feet. "Ladies and gentlemen, can we convene?" A man appeared before them, speaking to those in the room. "Quick as we can, please. It's this way on the right-" He started guiding the herd through the open doorway- the trio followed slowly behind. "And can I remind you ID cards," He held up one. "Are to be worn at all times." He had stopped in front of the trio and handed the ID card to the Doctor, which he took. "Here's your ID card. I'm sorry, your companions don't have clearance."

The Doctor put the lanyard around his neck. "I don't go anywhere without them."

"You're the code nine, not them." He insisted. "I'm sorry, Doctor. It is the Doctor, isn't it?" When the Doctor nodded the man smiled like he was meeting a famous person and Lily guessed, to these people, he kinda was. "They both have to stay outside."

The Doctor was stubborn as all get out and Lily knew that even before he opened his mouth. "They are staying with me."

He tried to reason with him in a low tone- they were now the only ones in the room besides a woman who lingered near the doorway. "Look, even I don't have clearance to go in there. I can't let them in and that's a fact."

Lily let go of Rose and stopped up behind the Doctor, placing a hand on his back to get his attention. "It's alright. We'll be fine." She nodded out the doorway. "Go on."

"Excuse me," The unknown woman walked up closer to them with a smile. "Are you the Doctor?"

"Sure." He shrugged and looked back at Lily. The woman and ID man were speaking to each other when the Doctor directed at Lily. "Don't get into too much trouble, Red."

"Wouldn't you like that?" Lily teased and watched as he left to follow the crowd. Lily turned to Rose who was giving her a smirk and raised a brow. "What?"

She narrowed her eyes. "Red?"

She hadn't heard him call that before. "Stop it." Lily blushed and Rose nudged her with a shoulder- a giggle escaping the blonde's lips.

The man who gave the Doctor his ID was still speaking to the woman with no name. "You haven't got clearance. Now leave it." He turned back to the sisters. "I'm going to have to leave you two with security."

Before either of the girls could come up with a reply, the woman worked her way to stand between Lily and Rose. "It's all right." She wrapped an arm over each of their shoulders- grinning. "I'll look after them. Let me be of some use."

The man just sighed and walked off. "Walk with me, girls." Lily didn't feel anything off about the woman so she let her steer them out of the room towards a corridor. "Just keep walking." Her arms lowered down to rest on both hers and Rose's lower backs. "That's right. Don't look 'round." They passed near a security guard where she held up her personal ID card. "Harriet Jones, MP Flydale North." Unknown woman now had a name.

When they seemed to now be in the clear, with no guards in sight, she let go of Lily and Rose and led them down an empty corridor. "This friend of yours, he's an expert, is that right?" He asked Lily. "He knows about aliens?"

She gave Harriet a once over- taking in her white blazer with skirt and handbag over her shoulder. "What do you want to know? Lily asked. She was wary of her until she started to cry. The sisters gave each other a look before moving in to comfort her. "Come see." She told them, leading them into a separate room from before with a long table in the center and a body suit of some kind draped over a chair. Harriet led them to it- lifting it up to show them closer. "They turned the body into a suit!" They did- Lily noting the suit looked just like a human body. "A disguise for the thing inside!" She quickly became distraught again- dropping the suit and covering her mouth to stifle her sobs.

"It's okay. We believe you." Lily reassured her, rubbing a soothing hand down her arm.

"It's alien," Rose's voice was low to make sure no one could hear her. "They must have some serious technology behind this," Rose stated as she started to search the room, leaving Lily to comfort Harriet. "If we could find it, we could use it." She looked under the table and then headed to a cabinet- which she opened and shrieked as a dead body fell out.

Lily rushed to her side with Harriet in tow. "Oh my god," She leaned down to check for a pulse but found nothing. She stood back up. He was cold to the touch.

"Harriet, for god's sake!" The ID man, still no name, exclaimed as he entered the room. "This has gone beyond a joke! You cannot just wander!" She stopped short when he evaluated the scene he had just walked into. "Oh, my god, that's the Prime Minister!"

The sound of heels approaching brought all four of their attention to the doors where a plus-sized nicely dressed woman slowly entered. "Oh," She spoke, sounding quite intrigued. "Has someone been naughty?" She closed the door behind her, still giving them a smile that made Lily feel physically sick- something was wrong. She eased Rose behind her.

"But that's impossible." The ID man looked at the Prime Minister's body and then to the unnamed woman- a very confused look on his face and in his tone of speech. "He left this afternoon. The Prime Minister left Downing Street. He was driven away!"

"And who told you that, hmm?" She asked sweetly, advancing to them. Lily reached behind her to be positive that Rose was there. Rose took her sister's hand like she knew what Lily needed. Harriet had, in turn, gotten closer to Lily's side and held onto her arm. "Me." She reached her hand up to her hairline and began unzipping something- blue light began to fill the room.
