Later that Same Night
LILY WAS A CREATURE OF HABIT and it wasn't something she was proud of. Wake up, get dressed, have tea, work, lunch, work, catch the bus to go home- Monday to Friday, every week of the year. She had started at Henrik's right out of school to help fund her publishing dreams. Nearly six years later, she was still there folding shirts and earning minimum wage. Lily let out a yawn as she continued folding shirts. Glancing at the wall clock she noticed that they were now an hour past closing. The manager kept the store open longer that day in hopes of earning more money during a sale. They finally checked out the last customer and were now finishing up their closing tasks.
Lily's assigned task that night was folding the mound of shirts that visitors botched up in the heat of getting the best deal. What felt like forever, Lily had lifted up the final shirt to fold but halted as the color stood out to her. It was a shade of blue so deep she could only refer to it as 'TARDIS blue.' Running the tips of her thumbs over the material, she started to recall using that description numerous times in her writing. She could hear the noise- feel the wind pick up as if the box was materializing right in front of her.
"Lily Carter."
Her eyes shot up and found them focusing forward at a man. He was blonde in a tan suit with red accents and a stalk of celery clipped on- his shoulder leaning against that beautiful blue box. Arms crossed and a smirk donned his lips as he watched her with calculating eyes. "What are you waiting for?"
"He did not!" A sudden and loud exclamation pulled her attention to the side, watching a group of laughing teenage girls pass, heading toward the front doors holding bags of clothes. After Lily watched them exit, she turned back to where the Doctor once was and frowned when she saw the area now vacant. As Lily finished folding the blue shirt she realized she allowed her imagination to slip away once again.
Seeing her work task was now complete, Lily lifted her hand up to fiddle with her locket, the longest of the three necklaces she wore- trying to forget how happy those girls seemed and how she never experienced a friendship like that before. "I know, right? I would have been gutted." Lily's ears perked up when she overheard one of her co-workers behind her- possibly at the registers.
"Exactly." The other girl spoke. "Imagine having one sliver of a chance to leave this place and lose it. No future. Stuck at this job?" She sighed. "Won't be me, I'll tell you that."
"Hey!" Lily turned around and found herself smiling as her younger sister came into view. "Don't you two have better things to do than gossip on your off hours. Bugger off." Lily stifled a laugh as she watched the gossipers pass by her out the front doors.
Lily left the neatly folded pile of shirts and started to the registers where Rose still stood. "Unbelievable." She scoffed, shaking her head. "Those two don't ever talk about themselves and their own pathetic lives."
Lily raised a brow as she emptied the registers, transferring the lottery money into ziplock bags. "A bit harsh Ro."
"Trust me- you wouldn't be surprised if you heard the things running through my head at this very moment." Her angered gaze moved from the front doors to what her sister was doing and it dropped to confusion. "I thought it was Shelby's turn?"
"Remember she left earlier? She has an exam tomorrow morning and hasn't finished studying for it." She shrugged, finishing up the money and locking the registers. "I don't mind it."
"Want me to join you?" Rose offered as Lily pulled her bag from the under cabinets, lifting the strap over her shoulder.
"No need. It'll only take a moment. Go home, Ro. I'll catch the next bus."
It took a bit more convincing, but Lily managed to say goodbye to Rose- locking the front doors of the building after her sister left. After taking the lift down to the basement, Lily was expecting to see Wilson once she exited. When he was nowhere in sight she looked down both sides of the corridor, calling his name. With no response, Lily walked over to his office and knocked on his door. "Wilson, I've got the lottery money." Silence. "Wilson?"
The sound of movement brought Lily's attention further down the corridor to a pair of open, double doors. She rolled her eyes and started walking towards them. "Wilson, it's Lily." Her voice echoed throughout the corridor as she continued forward. "I'm really not in the mood for games tonight." Pushing open the doors and stepping in, Lily's anxiety heightened with all the clutter around her. That anxiety feeling only worsened when she noticed the several white mannequins surrounding her.
"Okay . ." Lily said warily, "Wilson!" As Lily progressed forward, she kept a cautious gaze on each figure. Their faces, voided of all emotion, sent an uneasy feeling down to Lily's stomach. "Look Wilson, if you're trying to play a joke this isn't funny." She called out, looking around at the surrounding mannequins.
SLAM
Lily dropped the money and spun back around to see the doors she had entered through were now closed. Lily sprinted to them and tried to pry them open, but there was no use. Her thin arms weren't enough to budge upon the heavy metal doors. "Shit," Seeing no way forward, she turned back around and held in a scream at what saw. They were now facing her.

Lily scanned the room, looking for another exit all while trying not to completely break down in fear. When she saw a blinking exit sign, another pair of double doors underneath it, she wasted no time overthinking her strategy. Forcing down a hard swallow she proceeded further in the room, watching in silent horror as the mannequins' faces followed her every move.
She quickened her step when the mannequins slowly started to move towards her. Before she could blink, Lily was now running to what she only hoped was her salvation from whatever nightmare she was in. She tried not to turn around and watch what she could hear was happening - the mannequins' steps growing louder and more swiftly.
Lily found herself throwing her body against the metal doors, grabbing both handles and using all her strength to pull them open. But just like the other doors, these wouldn't give way either. "No! Come on, please!" She begged the inanimate object, looking over her shoulder to see the mannequins, maybe ten of them by what she could see, only getting closer.
She spun back around, wanting to try the doors again, but was forced to jump back when one door swung open. It was so forceful, Lily could hear it hit and break the pipe on the nearby wall. Lily's eyes met a man who seemed as equally surprised to see her and she was to see him. When he saw the commotion going on behind Lily, he didn't waste any time in grabbing her wrist and telling her to. "Run."
