Dreaming Black Boy
Don't you wake at night
After the day has thinned?
When hardly a soul is in sight
To witness you shed your skin
Cause when your friends are gone
And it's only you,
You can feel the thoughts in your head,
Hear them too:
They sleep on you, black boy.
They see not you, thug boy.
But they don't dream like you, real boy
Their jealous of you, big boy
So dream a world you can live in.
Be black like the night you fit in.
Man up, there is no sitting.
Dream, black boy, you're living.
