Chapter Twenty One- Pippa

Pippa awoke with only one thing on her mind. What on earth was she going to bury in box that would encapsulate everything in the world around her? Shutting her eyes she recalled her dream. She had had a good time, listened to some great music. She smiled, remembering their antics. Having someone else with her in her dream certainly made them more interesting and fun.

She had come to the conclusion soon after getting out of bed, tumbling down the stairs and chowing down on a bacon sandwich, was that burying a time capsule wasn't such a bad idea after all.

The debate of whether Bellamy Jezebel was real or not, was something that could never be solved, she had decided. But a time capsule would be a part of her, planted in a place that would be dug up to become a part of history- whether Bellamy or another future person dug it up.

"-Are you even listening to me?" Her mum said, tapping Pippa's shoulder, sending her jumping up in shock.

"I'll take that as a no." Her mum answered for her, rolling her eyes.

"Sorry- I didn't even know you were here, or talking to me." Pippa replied, smiling apologetically. She had been so deep in thought she had missed her completely. "What were you saying?"

"I'm going to work, I will be home for tea. Dad is still in bed, so try not to be too loud." She replied, slipping on her coat and picking up her keys. "Have a nice day."

With a peck on the forehead, her mum left, leaving the house in silence and Pippa standing in her pyjamas and fluffy dressing gown.

Checking the time, she planned her day. Finchey was spending the day with his mum and her dad was having a lie in. She was expecting some pre university course books to be arriving in the post any day. Not set reading- just because. So she had the morning free.

She looked wistfully over at the calendar hanging on the kitchen wall, the date of her departure for university circled in red. She knew her parents were a little confused and rather perturbed by her stating a few months ago that she wouldn't miss her home. But she knew it would be there waiting for her every time she closed her eyes to dream.

Two leisurely hours later, spent pondering the soon to be content of her box as she showered, dressed and put on a little bit of makeup, and she was quietly shutting the door behind her.

Coming to a stop in the park, she sat down on the park bench overlooking the children's play area. Being late Monday morning, she wasn't surprised to see it empty, though that was not a bad thing for her.

Taking out her pen and small notepad, she began to list her thoughts.

-Letters. If there was any chance at all that Bellamy was real, and he was going to see inside the box, then she wanted to write him a letter. And if he wasn't, then so be it.

If he was real, then she should probably explain herself to his government. Introduce herself, tell them Bellamy isn't crazy. That kind of thing.

-A map would be cool as well, showing the roads and buildings in the surrounding areas- that's the kind of thing historians like.

-Pictures are a must as well. Though a thousand years would be too long for paper ones to last.

She made a note to ask Bellamy whether the technology of his time would be able to access her era's memory devices.

Setting her pen down, Pippa nodded to herself. This was perfect. Now all she needed was a box. That would be easy to bury. And last a thousand years in the ground.

Packing away her note book, deciding to head to a coffee shop so she could connect to the internet and do some research on time capsules.

Ordering a cup of tea, she sat in the round booth, taking out her tablet to look online.

Time capsules, it seemed, were popular.

She immediately discounted the wooden ones, and pondered the plastic ones before learning they too wouldn't last long enough.

At the bottom of the last page, just as she was about to give up for the day, a small box caught her eye. Made of solid steal and once closed, sealed until it is broken open and. with a lifespan of just over 1500 years. If she dipped into her savings, just a little bit, she could afford it.

Saving the page and sending a link of the box to herself so she could order it later that evening she drained the last of her tea. A text from her dad asking what she was up to and if she was ok, sat waiting on her phone as she checked the time.

Sending him a quick reply, she headed out of the coffee shop to buy some lunch to take home for herself and her dad. She wandered around the town, stopping into the shops she needed, waving hello at the people she knew, peering into the shops- though she already knew what was in the windows.

Picking up a French baguette in the bakery, some cheeses and chutney from the deli and fresh tomatoes from the grocers, Pippa smiled to herself as she looked around the high street, fresh food from independent shops in her hand, knowing it would always be there for her.
