Chapter 3
"We will be arriving our destination of Seoul, South Korea soon. Please fasten your seat belts and prepare for our descent."
The announcement woke Sophie up and she groaned as she stretched her sore muscles. The 15 hour flight had made her a little restless but around the 9 hour mark she was able to drift off into an uncomfortable sleep.
"Note to self: No more long flights," she thought, rubbing her shoulders.
Sophie sighed as she exited the airplane, she had no clue where to go. She should have brushed up on her native language on the plane, too many languages learned over the years muddled her brain.
Luckily, by following her fellow passengers, she was able to quickly find the baggage claim. All she had at the moment was her necessities and two weeks worth of clothes, the rest was to arrive later. She grabbed her luggage and met up with the scheduled car that was to take her to the company and her new home.
On the way there she went over the small Korean dictionary that she had brought just in case and soon enough felt confident in the language again. This was her skill, languages. She had a knack for them as they came so naturally to her. From being bilingual in a Korean-American family to having the opportunity to learn multiple other languages in school, she was now fluent in 4 languages, and learning two more: Russian and Italian.
Of course, her parents had noticed this and had taken advantage of it. That's why they had pushed her into business school, international affairs to be exact. And she hated it. The business world was too political and harsh for someone like her.
The car ride to the company wasn't as long as she thought it would be, and with a promise from the staff that her luggage would safely make it to her apartment, she entered the large building.
"Ah, there she is!" A kind looking man greeted her enthusiastically.
She recognized him from the research she had done, "Nice to meet you CEO Bang."
"Nice and proper too," he smiled, "Come let me get you situated."
The next hour or so was an introduction into the company as well as yet another contract, this one for the actual job. Turns out the other paperwork she already completed was for her housing and payment. The CEO was very inviting and she already liked him.
"That's it for the boring stuff. Now you'll be working with our biggest group BTS," he said, "We needed someone with experience in different cultures and languages, who can be our liaison while travelling abroad. "
"I've never done anything like this before though," Sophie said, she hadn't even finished her degree in international business affairs, how could she manage an idol group's international affairs.
CEO Bang waved it off, "You'll catch onto it quickly, I can see your potential. Most of the time you'll be helping out with the band, make sure they're okay and be there if they need anything. There's always been a line between staff and them and they have each other, but I thought it would be nice for them to have someone else near their age."
"The job is titled BigHit Entertainment International Associate, and it entitles a lot of responsibilities. You'll be like an assistant to the managers and staff that help the boys on the daily basis, but you'll also be the key link between staff and band. Someone that they can talk to and be comfortable with. A friend."
His gaze grew more serious, "Someone they can go to, okay? I don't want any harm to come to them and I want you to ensure that nothing will happen. It sounds like an easy job but I want you to take it seriously."
Sophie nodded, her professional look prominent on her face, "I understand."
"Great!" The joyful smile returned to the older man's face, "Now, onto the tour!"
"Can you hear what they're saying?" Jimin hissed to his dongsaeng.
"Not really, they got really quiet all of a sudden." Jungkook replied, shaking his light brown hair out of his eyes.
J-hope frowned, taking off the binoculars, "Why does Bang PD-nim need tinted windows, I can't see anything either."
"Why did you even bring those?" Jin asked, laughing, "We're waiting for a new person not hunting for a deer."
"Eomma, stop ruining the fun," Jungkook whines, intently staring down the doors.
"Ahh- But why are we spending our free day like this?" Suga grumbles, looking bored as he looks down the other side of the hallway.
"Because we want to see the new girl, hyung," answered the maknae.
"Aish, we look dumb. I'm going to the studio with RapMon-,"he gets cut off as the doors of the office open.
Startled the 4 other boys dash back quickly, all of them still watching the office.
"With our bright hair colors we're sure to get caught," Jin hissed at the others, never taking his eyes off of the doors.
"Push Suga-hyung to the outside, he has black hair," Jhope suddenly suggested, laughing a little.
"That doesn't even make sense," said member grumbled, but the others unanimously pushed him to the front of them anyways.
"Yah-," he protested before a hand clapped over his mouth.
Jungkook's voice whispered, "Sorry hyung, but I'll treat you to lamb skewers if this works."
Suga made a muffled noise of protest but froze when Bang PD-nim and the girl stepped out of the room.
She wasn't the prettiest girl they had ever seen, they had been around plenty of models and girl group idols who all had gotten the Korean music industry treatment. But there was something about her natural beauty that drew them in. She was wearing barely any makeup, if any, but her eyes were bright and her features were nice and soft.
"She's cute!" Jimin said, peeking out from under Yoongi.
"They're going to hear us," Jin shushed his younger members, all of them quickly darting back to their hiding spots as the girl they were staring at suddenly glanced over in their direction.
Suga stiffened as the girl's gaze landed on him, but luckily it was just for a moment. Bang PD-nim called to the girl as he led her to a different part of the building. But before she turned around to follow him, Suga swore she winked at him.
