Chapter 21

Seoul had slowly become cooler as the seasons shifted away from the summer heat and monsoon rains. It was still quite warm but that was accompanied by a pleasant breeze at all times, and Sophie was glad of it. The tour in Japan had gone extremely well but the humidity had almost killed her. Coming from the mid western part of the United States, she was used to drier climates and higher altitudes.

She often found herself looking outside longingly, remembering the fun times she had with Liz and Jax in the mountains, hiking and going to dog parks. That was another thing that she missed, Korea's cultural view on dogs wasn't anything like it was at home and Sophie seriously had some puppy withdrawal.

"Ah, chincha," she sighed, pushing herself away from her computer. She rubbed her eyes, "I need a break, I haven't gotten anything done in the past 20 minutes."

"Then take one."

Opening her eyes, she glanced over to see Jin standing in the doorway to her office.

"Jin-ssi, your promotion in the US is in a month, and you're telling me to slack off?"

"Just come on, we're going out to eat."

"Oh, noona!"

"Sophie, are you joining us for dinner?" RM asked, smiling in surprise.

She nodded, "Yea, Jin-ssi over here convinced me."

"Sophie, what did we talk about with honorifics? It feels weird when a friend uses ssi," Jin complains, making Sophie glare at him.

"Okay, Kijinmaekjin."

"What did I do this time?!"

Sophie shakes her head, "It's just weird because I work with you professionally all the time. The honorifics have to come naturally."

"Yea, hyung, you can't just force it on someone. Especially not a lady," Taehyung said, shaking his head at the older member.

"That's a crime," Jimin piped up, prompting weird looks from the others.

"Yah, Park Jimin, what did you say?"

"Why did you have to go and make it awkward?"

The streets of Seoul were beautiful by day, but with the strong nightlife and tempting city streets, Sophie adored it more as the sun went down. Not many people were out and about, much to her surprise, but the boys wore their masks and hats, heads bowed down just in case.

"Where are we going?" Sophie asked as they headed down the street.

"My friend's place," Taehyung answered.

RM grinned, "Yea TaeTae's friend's place."

Sophie furrowed her eyebrows in confusion, Suga taking notice next to her.

"She owns a cafe nearby, and V's been going there since before debut."

"It's a she? Oh Taehyung-ah, look at you go."

The blond shook his head and walked quicker, his ears a bright red.

"It's not like that."

"It's definitely like that," Jimin said, laughing at his friend's reaction.

The group made their way into a smaller road, breaking away from the traffic of the street. Sophie was rather glad of the change, the constant bright lights and advertisements reminded her of Times Square, if Times Square was an entire city. Taehyung walked confidently, leading the rest of them, as they meandered through the complicated streets. Soon, they had wandered away from the insane city lights and into a quiet road.

A shop immediately drew her in, sticking out from the rest of the business like buildings. It wasn't clinically cold like the others on the street, but rather the dark paint and warm accents welcomed them from the street. The large windows revealed a modernly cozy interior, complete with a display of fake plants hanging from the ceiling decorated with bakery themed embellishments.

"Snick-er-doodle?" Jin read, hesitating a little on the foreign word.

Jungkook tilted his head, "What?"

"It's a kind of cookie, American," Rapmon explained, Taehyung nodding in agreement as they made their way into the shop.

"Welcome in!" A bright female voice greeted them.

"Soonae!" Taehyung called out warmly, taking off his mask.

The girl behind the counter smiled as she recognized him, "Oh, Taehyung-ah! Long time no see."

The bright smile grew on her face as she took in all the others, "And you brought everyone this time."

"Did you miss me?" Jimin asked, popping out from the back.

"Not as much as I missed RM's crossword puzzle abilities," she shot back, "Come sit down, there's plenty of room and food for all of you."

"Nice to see you again," RM greeted, "We might eat you out of stock though."

"I don't think she would have a problem with that," Taehyung said, already scouring the pastry display, "It's apple season."

"Plenty of pastries around," she finished, "Here, let me get a table set up for you."

"No need, we got this," Jimin said, gesturing for the rest of the band to help out, "Are these ones okay to use?"

"Those are perfect," Soonae grinned, "Would you guys me to put anything on for you right now?"

"8 cups of your apple cider, if you could," Tae answered.

Sophie lingered back, unsure of where she should place herself but made her way to the counter to look at the assortment of baked goods. Taehyung bent down to look with her.

"Don't they look good?"

She nodded, almost drooling looking at the delectable pastries in the case, "They look amazing."

"Soonae, this is Sophie, one of our managers."

The girl's eyes widened and she bowed immediately, "Oh, forgive my impoliteness. I didn't realize you were administration."

Sophie laughed awkwardly in response, "No need, I don't mind."

Taehyung nodded, "She's a 95 liner, so you're actually older."

"Aish, there's no need to point out my old age."

Sophie laughed again, this time comfortably, "Well then. Unni, if you could please do me a favor?"

"Yes, anything."

"Can we get one of everything you would recommend? I'm starving."
