Chapter 109- Expectations aren't always realistic (LeviathanTale)
Sun used spite!...it seems this attack slightly misfired.

Sun growled unhappily as he glared at the back of the monsters skull, thinking the XGaster should count themselves lucky that he had far too many restrictions on him to fully damage the insane monster but still rather smug at the large tear he put in their previously meticulous lab coat that he could tell they had been very proud of.
He of course ignored Dream's scolding, his dislike ever increasing of this worlds version of a Positivity Guardian now that they looked like any other normal monster and felt this entire AU was creepy with how little sense it made to him. He bared his teeth in a rather unfriendly manner when the 'Doctor' tried to get closer to him again, unable to help the slight wag of his weird fishy tail when he heard their breath hitch.
He soon realised why when he spotted a reflective surface in the building he had sadly been dragged into, admiring the practically needle-like teeth and definitely planning to try and use his magic to add this fun little feature when things were back to normal and he was far away from this hell hole.
He was clinging to the small spark of optimism, unsure he could deal with this if he didnt and ignored the mental ping in the back of his mind as he felt his HP shift downwards, a few more scales falling off his tail at the same time.
"Well? Can you fix the broken hatchling? You can, right?"
XGaster used every bit of self control to try and keep his face as neutral as possible when Ink asked that question, seeing the tiny Mer hissvery aggressively at him anytime he simply dared to move or even breath and thinking it was frankly a miracle he even got a blood sample without losing a hand at all.
He was glad his assistant wasn't due to come back until this evening, not wanting to replace the latest one so soon or have to hide their 'mysterious' disappearance if any of the creatures in the room got offended with him as everyone he hired so far tended to be a bit...well, stupid to put it lightly.
It was annoying he didn't have many choices for assistants with not many willing to work with him but at least he knew Cross was obedient after the years he wasted raising them after that regretful night he had with their mother.
So many years of research held back but he made sure Cross could fully pay him back, the smaller more annoying details of dealing with an underfunded lab given to Cross to deal with in the end. Truly he was a generous monster not just throwing them into the orphanage and giving them a path so they actually contribute something to society, pulling himself out of his thoughts when the small Mer hissed at him again...and was that a judging look?
Of course not, he must just be more tired then he thought which was to be expected with all of this suddenly thrown at his feet.
It was depressing to say that being in a room with so many Leviathans his absolute dream wasn't the first thing that occupied his mind and instead the frankly feral creature was. He repeatedly tried to remind himself that he had been working on keeping this 'friendship' with Ink for a reason and he couldn't let one wild Mer ruin that.
He'd lost so many assistants to Ink over the years, the police sniffing into his business a bit too much for his liking but it would be worth it in the end.
He would heal the Mer as quickly as he could and then he would gain the gratitude of many of the Leviathans which would only further his research further. He just had to endure then everything would fall into place, trying to put as much confidence into his voice as he answered Ink.
"Of course. I have some concoctions that should help to strengthen them and they should be right as rain tomorrow"
He said with confidence he did not feel and felt a cold shiver run down his spine when he felt a glare on the back of his skull, not needing to look to know the tiny Mer was ready for round two of trying to rip his face off, planning to wear his thicker clothing when interacting with them from now on.

Sun was rather unimpressed with this entire process, his arms resting on the side of what was simply a glorified fish bowl, glaring darkly at the scientist the entire time when they poured colourful liquids into the filter for his tank. He was amused that the last tank had shattered for some reason, the water drenching the entire floor and destroying a few of the equipment that made XGaster act like a banshee. He didn't notice how he briefly grew due to his instincts acting in defence, only able to do so for a split second due to his condition but that was enough to cause so much damage.
That the poor lackey had been forced to lift him into the new tank almost made him feel enough pity not to bite them but his generosity truly only went so far.
He wasn't sure how it was even possible to feel a higher level of body dysphoria about this entire mess but he was experiencing it right now, feeling more like a sick pet going to the vet then his own person. His agitation only grew at the reminder that he had been left alone with the doctor, unsure why he felt betrayed considering he barely knew or even liked the weirdos outside of this place.
Maybe it was a lingering hope that not all adults sucked but who knew at this point, really not wanting to examine his feelings further or ever, struggling enough dealing with his life as it was.
"Add a few drops of this. Now where did I put the Determination? I doubt anything else will keep it alive. Maybe I should have gone into the family business but my intellect would be so very wasted on it. Now i need to keep a half dead Mer alive that should have been eaten by a shark long ago...☝︎⚐︎👎︎📪︎ ✋︎ ☠︎☜︎☜︎👎︎ ✌︎ 👎︎☼︎✋︎☠︎😐︎📬︎📬︎"
Sun wasn't sure how this 'doctor' had missed that he was fully capable of speaking and understanding them but he had eventually figured out that this AU was even more creepy then he first thought with so many of the Leviathans seeming so unobservant or perhaps some divine intervention was afoot. Apparently there were many languages out there and 'land dwellers' spoke a variety of them, it seemed that his mind as well as his body had been edited so he could understand it...
Did he mention he really hated this AU and he was very suspicious what exactly was being added to his water, feeling a tingling from his tail when the red substance was dripped into his filter. It made him sneeze but nothing bad seemed to happen but fully expected something unnatural to occur due to this.
The mans 'assistant' also made him bare his teeth, pretty sure he was forever going to have an issue with Cross types due to his supreme stalker and trying to bite the monster fingers when they adjusted the water levels of his dindgy space.
He was currently focusing on something he did have control of and was mentally cataloguing all the useful blackmail he was now gathering to inevitably throw this 'doctor' under the bus he already labelled them as creepy and wanted them far from him when the latest adult trying to 'help' him came back, pretty sure he could convince the Error of this world to eat XGaster.
He might even be able to make this Cross throw the man under the bus as well but that plan was sadly scrapped when he saw how much like a beaten puppy the grown monster acted like, it creepy how they followed XGasters words like the gospel.
His luck truly was atrocious......
He assumed that the sun had long set when he glanced at the mechanical clock on the wall, the dim lights of the underground Lab giving the entire place an ominous feeling and it was terrible to tell the time of day but Sun had seen far too much to be scared by something simple as lighting.
He had briefly entertained himself by trying to snap at XGaster but that soon grew boring when they wizened up to keep distance between them, feeling Dream was a turncoat when he was dumped into this tank before they promised to come back the next day.
He was pretty sure most of these 'Leviathans' expected him to be dead the next day and he couldn't say he disagreed as he looked a right mess when he saw the massive mirror down here that he assumed XGaster had due to some ego thing.
Considering that the 'esteemed Doctor' hadn't stopped talking for the past few hours he would say that was a high probability, almost impressed by the idiot's sheer gall when he heard their little rant about Leviathans.
Now, it wasn't to say he wasn't happy to learn more about the world but hearing what exactly XGaster planned to do to the powerhouses he had been stuck with was kind of baffling. It was always awe inspiring to realise that the bar for idiocy could always be lowered, thinking this monster may be mentally cracked as their dramatic speech about 'fame and fortune' seemed worryingly rehearsed.
How the hell did he get stuck with yet another crazy person, thanking all of his lucky stars that at least there hadn't been a single stalker the entire time, so maybe things weren't as bad as he had thought.
He was still planning to steal a phone to see if it could reach Core though, hopeful they had more information about this place and just waking to hear a familiar voice that didn't make him want to bolt in the opposite direction.
When the lights flickered off in the Lab he let his body relax when he was finally alone and mischievously grinned when he saw an oh so convenient phone nearby. He was annoyed when it didn't connect to Core but then a rather devious came to mind when he realised he was in a secret Lab.
After some wonderful bit of voice acting he hung up and wobbly swam to the bottom of the tank while holding his plushy, hoping to get a restful sleep without any nightmares.
He was just asking for a few hours of normalcy, was that truly too much?
——
"There is a live one down here! Get the transport tank quick. They need a check over to make sure there aren't any issues"
"WHAT WAS XGASTER DOING HERE?! HES TRULY INSANE. JUST HOW MANY MERS HAS HE KILLED?!"
"Where is the marine specialist?! We have a Mer barely hatched and looks to be in bad shape. Get the sedatives quick and someone grab some cuffs! Don't let either monster escape"
....Sun should have known better then to ask for too much, staying in the bottom of his tank when humans burst through the previous hidden Lab door far quicker then he expected after his 'anonymous tip' with XGaster dragged away by what looked like police of this world Cross looked like they couldn't settle on whether to be scared or relieved, a true basket case their and glad that wasn't his issue.
When he saw a smaller tank be wheeled near him he just knew this was going to be hell, the slight burning sensation in his tail ignored as he tried not to cry when he realised the slight flaw in his spiteful action.
Why can't he just be normal..?
~~~~~~~
Sun: *Feral, looks like he wants to eat XGaster and everyone else in the room while also pushing down yet another breakdown*
XGaster: *SOUL racing after nearly losing an arm to a 'normal' Mer*..this might be a bit far out of my comfort zone. Is fame really worth this?
Error: *Cackling in the back and so happy he came to watch* This checkup is going to be great🍿
-
XGaster: *Breathing heavily after avoiding Sun's bites and trying not to shake as he tried to treat them* Its just one night. I can solve this. He's in a tank. What harm can he do?
Sun: *Calculating how to make XGasters life hell and full planning to throw them under the bus to the Leviathans* When life gets you down its always smart to remember blackmail can always lift up your mood~
-
Sun: *With a rare hopeful edge* Surely my life can't get any more insane?
Murphys law: *Giggling innocently while holding a sledge hammer* You rang?~
