Think: Interesting characters are multidimensional and often hypocritical; they have great qualities and negative flaws as well as sometimes liking, but hating, the same thing at once. Again, taking a personality test as your character could really be helpful because they often describe the flaws of that personality.
Exercise: In a chapter of your book, describe your character's idiosyncrasies; those things that make them uniquely them. This could be a flaw in their personality or a hypocritical stance.
Whatever you choose to do, you will need to likely do for all the main characters. Think carefully about who is a main character and who is a supporting character.
For example, while your character might be generous under certain circumstances, like giving to the homeless, they might turn around and be stingy under others, like wanting to keep all the cookies for themselves. While, they might act meek when it comes to standing up for themselves, they might become fiercely protective of someone else whom they care about.
