Chapter Seven 

that's my girl

3rd person pov 

they headed to the arena and when they got there , they all stood in a line next to their tributes. lucy gray turned to see dorothea walking up and dorothea smiled at the girl who smiled back softly and then turned back around . wovey grabbed dorotheas hand and squeezed making dorothea squeeze back 

"all right, lets go" the peacekeeper told them and they began to walk into the arena together. it was dark and red and when the turnstile cranked, all they kept hearing was enjoy the show. enjoy the show. enjoy the show. over and over again, it became a song and dorothea was sick of it. they all watched as festus make a spectacle of coral and then they heard machinery wheering and the sun came in. there was the light and they all looked around 

"welcome to the arena for the 10th annual hunger games. Tributes, mentors, do you have 15 minutes to survey this space and discuss strategy" they heard and they watched the plans begin to form between everyone. jessup was looking at everyone and lucy gray looked at coriolanus and sighed. wovey looked at dorothea and dorothea nodded her head 

"it's OK I'm gonna do everything I can to protect you and if I can't then I'll always talk about you. No one will ever forget you I won't let them." dorothea told her and then an explosion went off and dorothea grabbed wovey as she turned and knelt down with her body curled around woveys to protect her as much as she could. she didn't care about her self at that moment, she cared about wovey and lucy gray. so she looked around and saw more explosions going off as dirt, dust and rubble flew around them. 

"run" dorothea told wovey and she nodded as she ran off and dorothea saw lucy gray walk away and then lucy gray ran over to coriolanus and dorothea did too. 

"corio, its me. we'll get you out" dorothea told him and she started to lift the rubble off of him with lucy gray and she moved it just enough to save him before lucy gray was dragged off and dorothea watched. the peacekeepers came over to grab her and with that, she was dragged off away from coriolanus as he laid on the ground and she stared at him as they dragged her away and she couldn't do anything about it. 

she walked into the infirmary with tigris and their grandma'm to check on coriolanus and when he opened his eyes, he looks straight at Dorothea with a look in his eye. 

"corio" tigris whispered 

"Lucy Gray? is she..." he led off and she nodded 

"she's alive Corio" dorothea stated and he sighed as he stared around the room in confusion and then looked at them 

"what happened?" he asked 

"it was a rebel bombing. They must've been planning it for months. For tributes were killed" sejanus told him 

"everyone's terrified, coryo. People are locking themselves inside their houses.. Felix Ravenstills on life-support.  The rebels released the message. They said they wanted to tear down the symbol of the hunger games on live TV. Marcus got out. He's the only one. Peacekeepers are hunting him in the street but at least he has a better chance out there than he would tomorrow." sejanus continued and dorothea nodded her head in agreement 

"tomorrow? They're not still going ahead with the games? oh,no, lucy gray. lucy gray could've run, but she saved me" he said and then they looked at the screen as they introduced the tributes, wovey had gotten more due to the way she talked about dorothea and their connections but now lucy gray was on tv and coryo stood up with the help of tigris and dorothea. they watched the girl on tv sing and tigris looked at dorothea with a smile on her face as they watched her gain more donations. 

"that's my girl" dorothea whispered and sejanus smiled as he nudged her and they all watched. dorothea listened to her girlfriend with a smile and a sigh as she got over 1000 donations. 

"record high for the evening. the capitol Is definitely watching. People sending in donations. See what happens when you do stuff? No, I don't love your odds, but may they be in your favor" he told her 

"thank you for being here" coriolanus said and dorothea nodded as she shared a look with them 

"all of you" he said 

"that's what friends do" sejanus told him and they watched as the show began to end and Dorothea sighed. she walked into the arena with coriolanus later that night as she helped him and they looked around for ways to help their tributes. 

"wovey, she said she's a good climber, right? I think I found a way to help her and Lucy gray" coriolanus told her and dorothea smiled as she nodded and they left the arena together. she was shocked to think that coriolanus of all people would help her but she wasn't in the wrong when she would realize his plan to only help himself. 

she went home later that night without coriolanus and she laid in her bed thinking of ways that she could help wovey without cheating and without hurting her. she couldn't imagine what coriolanus was doing to help lucy gray but it didn't matter. she went to the cage that night and told wovey everything she knew about the arena and where things were destroyed. it was a whole new arena and things were going to be completely different now that it was destroyed and due to this, dorothea was going to help wovey. that's what she did that night but now she would have to wait until the morning to find out what would happen. 

things were changing and it was only going to get worse
