20. Dream Girl Evil
Chapter Twenty
DREAM GIRL EVIL
3rd person pov
that night dorothea didn't go to sleep, she packed what she could of the things that she had left and she waited until dawn, the others were still asleep and she grabbed the bag of things that she hid under her bed and she looked around one last final time. she looked at coriolanus and she thought about how far they had gotten together. she thought about how she was leaving him for good and this was a good thing but she didn't know if leaving him was the best idea. he too was bound by the ways of the capitol but that was his choice.
dorothea thought about telling him of her escape and where she was going but sejanus did the same thing and look at what happened to him and the others. she hoped that maybe over time, coriolanus would find her. five, ten years down the line and they would bond over their freedom of the capitol and the work they did but it would never be like that.
she knew that if she didn't leave in that moment, she would never leave. she would never disappear from the eyes of the capitol or the eyes of coriolanus or the eyes of the society which bound her and held her to the truths that she hated. so she grabbed her stuff, shook her head and left the room. she didn't realize that coriolanus was awake and aware of her leaving.
she climbed into the back of a cargo truck and she was dropped off outside of the district, she jumped out and went to the hanging tree where she found lucy gray and they started to walk together. they soon made their way out to the woods and dorothea turned to lucy gray as she spoke
"are you thinking about sejanus?" lucy gray asked and dorothea nodded her head
"i just can't believe he died like that for a crime, i gave the families money and food and resources and yet I'm still alive. he tried to help three people escape and he got hung in front of everyone. its not fair" she exclaimed and lucy gray nodded
"don't blame yourself, he wouldn't want you to do that. It sucks that we have to leave, I know that we'll miss the covey I hope they'll find us someday but you know what I won't miss? The idea of us not being able to be together because people in there just hate women loving each other. I want to be with you and if we're far away from them in the woods, I can do that." lucy gray said and dorothea sighed
"I wish the same too lucy gray, I wish that I didn't have to hide you. I wish that people that love was love and there was nothing they could do about it, but sometimes people are just horrible. At least now that we're out in the open, we can be free without having to worry about them" dorothea stated and lucy gray stared at her girlfriend
"it's strange that the people who knew never said anything" lucy gray exclaimed and dorothea thought for a second, she was right. sejanus didn't say anything nor did coriolanus or tigris which was strange but okay. she was grateful that they never said anything about them.
"maybe they knew that there was nothing they could do, helping hide us was better than putting us out in the open" dorothea said and lucy gray nodded. they kept walking together not realizing that someone was following them, dorothea felt like someone was following them but she didn't look behind her.
she knew that if she looked behind her, she would only go back and that wasn't worth it. they were heading to the cabin as it started to rain harder and dorothea walked in with lucy gray as the door opened and they walked inside
"do you wanna just wait it out in here? I'm sure it won't be done for a while and maybe staying in here would be the best bet but if you wanna go fishing..." dorothea led off and lucy gray stared at her
"I think we stay in here and then when we're ready to go out as soon as the rain stops, we can. but I'm not sure fishing would be the best bet I don't know if you felt it, but it felt like someone was following us and I don't wanna risk that" lucy gray exclaimed and dorothea nodded.
dorothea looked around at the floor boards and she saw that one was popping up. she pulled it up and in it she saw the guns and stared at them
"luc, come look at this" dorothea called and lucy gray walked over as she looked at the guns with dorothea and they made eye contact.
"this is the gun that Coriolanus used, if we get rid of it, he'll be free and they'll be no loose ends except for us. Do you think we should get rid of it?" lucy gray asked and dorothea stared before she shook her head and sighed
"I think we should leave like right now because they're definitely was someone following us and I'm sure I know who it was. And he knows we're loose ends too" dorothea told her and lucy gray nodded as they covered up the guns again and they looked around.
they opened the door and walked out together, dorothea saw a figure of a man and she nudged lucy gray to look at it so she did. they knew that shape like the behind of each others hands, it was coriolanus, he had followed them and he knew that they were loose ends. dorothea stared at the figure until he turned and made eye contact that she and lucy gray decided to run as fast as they could.
they weaved in and out through the trees and the grass and the plants. lucy gray sang her song so that the birds would hear her and copy her. she was using it to trick coriolanus and dorothea could only hope that it would work.
"DOROTHEA, LUCY GRAY, ARE YOU HIDING FROM ME?" they could hear him calling out to them but they just kept running. they let the snakes near him and they kept going down different paths, they knew where they were going but he didn't.
they were simply disappearing from the sight of coriolanus snow and the world around them. if they could keep running forever they would, they would never stop and some say that they never did. they never stopped running for themselves and for the future of the world, lucy gray and her songbirds.
dorothea castiel and her snakes, that's what they were. the songbird and the snake, that's who they were to each other. intertwined and never left behind, they were each others and that's all they would ever be. if they could keep moving, keep running, they would never stop because someone would always be following them wherever they went.
they could still hear coriolanus in the woods, they could hear the gunshots and the yelling and everything around them but he wasn't haunting them. they were haunting him and they were winning. when the birds started singing lucy grays song, they knew that they won. they had won and they would be non-existent in his world forever.
dorothea realized that she was never evil, she could never be evil but she was lucy grays dream girl and coriolanus snow was evil. that's what her life came down too and she knew that.
the disappearance of lucy gray would cease to exist but dorothea Castiel? she would exist in every single history to ever exist, she helped the districts, she was a district person turned capitol turned peacekeepers turned escapee. she was free and so was lucy gray.
they would live out the rest of their days in a cabin in the woods in the north-east away from the districts. they would have two cats, they would get married in secret, adopt a few kids and they would be the best mothers in the whole world. historians would call them best friends but readers? well readers would call them lovers and that's what they were.
they were free and they were free together. she wasn't a dream girl evil, she was taught to dream, girl evil. this was her life now and she would hide out for the rest of her days but she was okay with that. she was free finally, free.
she was now everyone's
