Your POV
I moved into the Cul-de-sac earlier in the week and was in desperate need for a protein shake and maybe a three mile jog. I had noticed a park not too far from the cul-de-sac. I got ready and made my protein shake and was ready and out the door before my daughter was awake. I closed the door behind me and made sure I had my backpack of health bars and a first aid kit in case I fell. I have an extra pair of shoes and socks in case I meet my arch nemesis the puddle.
I put my shake into the side pocket of my backpack and put head phones in and my phone onto the holster onto my arm. And i was off. I went jogged to the park and was jogging around panting lightly.
I was running around and noticed a small brown stuffed toy in the middle of the sidewalk. I stopped jogging and bent over to pick it up. I held it up noticing it was a Capybara. A small rodent native to South America. I looked around to see if anyone could have dropped it. I spotted a well fit man wearing dark grey sweatpants and a light and dark blue baseball t-shirt.He had long black hair and tanned skin. He also had a wailing baby strapped to his chest. I took my headphones out and walked over. He looked worried and was failing to calm down the small child.
"Excuse me. Is everything alright?" I asked and he looked up at me and smiled lightly.
"My little girl lost her favorite Capybara toy and I don't know where to find it let alone calm her down." he said frantically.
I smiled lightly. "Is this the toy she lost?" I asked and hold up the small toy.
Upon sight of the toy the baby began to smile and instantly made a 180 degree turn on her mood. She does that better than I do.
"Bro! Thank you so much!" the man said and stood.
"I'm (y/n) by the way." I said and held my hand out as the baby had her toy.
He smiled and shook my hand firmly. "I'm Craig. And this is my youngest daughter River." he said and used her free hand to wave at me.
I smiled and bent over a bit. "Hi River. You're so cute!" I said. She made a gurgle at me and I giggled.
I stood up straight and caught Craig's eye. "I noticed you work out too. Care to join me?" he asked. I smiled and nodded.
"Yeah where do you wanna go?" I asked and took a swig of my shake.
"I'm actually almost done with my work out for the day so I was gonna go back up to the cul-de-sac." he said as he smiled lightly and rubbed the back of his neck.
"I live in the cul-de-sac too. I'm almost done anyway so we can head that way if you want." I said.
He looked at me and smiled. "No way! Bro that's awesome!" he said happily.
I giggled and nodded. "I actually moved in earlier this week." I said.
He nodded and we began our jog back up to the cul-de-sac.
"I saw that there was a moving van the other day but I had been so busy with my older daughter's softball team that I haven't had time. I would have been by earlier. Sorry bro." he said.
I shrugged. "Nah it's fine. Nothing to worry about. I'd hate to take you away from your girls' softball game." I said.
He nodded understandably. "Do you have any kids?" he asked.
I smiled proudly. "I do actually. I have a teenage daughter. Her name is (D/n) (daughter's name)." I said. "What are your other daughters like?" I asked.
He smiled. "They're twins actually. Briar and Hazel." he said proudly.
I smiled. "Beautiful names. Do they pretend to be each other?" I asked.
He sighed and nodded. "Yeah they do. But I only found out about that recently." he said.
"Twins will do that to you. Don't worry about it too much bro. They'll grow out of it." I said. he smiled and nodded.
We got to the cul-de-sac after that and we stopped in font of my house. We were panting slightly and I smiled at him. "Do you wanna meet (d/n)? She should be awake by now. Hopefully." I said.
"Totally bro." He said. I smiled and waved him inside. "I have some protein shake left if you want some." I said. He smiled and nearly ran me over to get to the kitchen. I giggled and poured him some into his shake container and went to see if (d/n) was awake. I knocked on her door and she opened it. Her (h/l) (h/c) was slightly messy and she was still in her pajamas.
"Hey kiddo! Have you been awake long?" I asked.
She shrugged and leaned on the doorway. "Yeah I just haven't made myself beautiful yet."she said.
"You're beautiful without the make up and perfect hair." I said.
She rolled her eyes but a small smile showed me she appreciated it. "Hey I have one of our neighbors here in the kitchen if you wanna meet him." I said.
She shrugged. "I dunno I don't wanna meet some people. Wait. Did you say "Him"?" she asked. I rose a brow. "Yes and no he isn't my boyfriend. Now come meet him." I said. She nodded and we walked back to the kitchen.
"Hey Craig. This is (D/n)." I said and motioned to my daughter. He smiled at her and put down his shake and shook her hand. "Nice to meet you bro." he said.
She nodded and looked at the baby that was strapped to his chest. "This is River!" he said and did the same wave from earlier. I smiled.
"Aww she's so cute." she said and River gurgled again and smiled.
Craig checked his watch and his smile faded for a second. "Sorry bros. But I gotta run. My daughters have softball practice in a bit and I gotta get River fed." he said with a slight frown.
(D/n) perked up. "You teach softball?" she asked. Craig nodded and smiled. I leaned on the counter and drank some of the protein shake and smirked.
"Do you need someone for the team?" she asked. Craig smiled. "Bro you play?" he asked.
She nodded meekly and looked down a bit. "Yeah. I have for a while. If you don't have room that's perfectly fine I can probably play the school's team." she said. Craig put a hand on her shoulder. "I would love to have you on my team. I think you'll get along with the rest of the girls too." he said.
She smiled happily. "Mom do you know where my softball equipment is?" she asked. I thought for a moment and nodded. "I think it's in the garage in a box." I said. She nodded and looked at Craig. "I'd be happy to meet the rest of the team. When do you want me to try out?" she asked.
"You can go with me to the field right now if you'd like." Craig said. She looked at me and I shrugged. "I want an update as soon as you get there so I know you're safe and when you're on the team. I also wanna know all your game schedules." I said. She groaned lightly. "Ugh Mom.' she said.
Craig chuckled, "I'll give you my number and I'll keep you updated. You can even be assistant coach if you want." he said. I smiled and (d/n) rolled her eyes. "I'd love to be your assistant coach." I said. "Alright bro." he gave me his number and they left soon after. I turned around and smiled after they left. Oh yeah. Plus one point for mom. Mission: Make Sure (d/n) Is Happy In New Neighborhood. Has been put into motion.
