Focus

Ana

I sat in an open field with my legs crossed and my fingers pointed upward as I channeled my inner peace. "Ohm." I hummed.

"What is your mate doing?" Martin asked Erik.

"Beats me." Erik shrugged.

I opened my eyes. "I'm meditating if you don't mind."

"Why?" Martin asked me.

"Because I read that meditation helps clear the mind." I closed my eyes. "Ohm."

"Why does a hybrid need to mediate? Shouldn't she channel her issues with her powers?" Martin asked.

I opened my eyes. My irritation grew. I stood up and dusted off my butt. No offense, but your butt gets dusty when you sit in an open field. I turned and faced Martin and Erik with my hands on my hips. "Do you mind? You're screwing with my ability to focus."

"Have you met you? You blow objects up with a flick of your wrist. I'm surprised you haven't blown up, Erik," Martin said.

Erik arched a brow at Martin.

"I zapped Erik. I didn't blow him up," I said with a shrug.

"Same thing."

"Can we not discuss my ass getting zap? Once was enough for me," Erik said.

I don't see what the big deal was. I have more control over my powers than I had. I waved my hand and blew up a tree. Martin and Erik glanced at the tree. Well, I'm working on my control. It needs time.

While Martin gave me a hard time meditating, a breeze blew past me. When the wind increases, it means one thing.

We turned to face Dante, who smirked.

"Super speed never gets old. I feel like Superman."

"You're more like the joker," Erik said.

"Okay, well, your kid disappeared. I thought you should know."

"Excuse me?" Erik narrowed his eyes and gritted his teeth as a low growl erupted from his throat.

"Wait. What do you mean that Silas disappeared. Where is he?" I asked.

"How should I know?  One minute, we were enjoying our bonding session. The next, he vanished. It's perplexing if you asked me." Dante shrugged.

I pivoted on my heel, then ran, changing into wolf form. Erik and Martin were right behind me as the pads on my paws hit the ground. I increased my speed until I reached the house, breaking through the window.

Christian stopped and looked at me. I bared my teeth while growling.

He crept towards me. "Ana."

I snapped at Christian as Erik joined me. Our son was missing, and anger erupted inside of me.

"Can someone explain how Silas ended up in my room?" Kira asked while holding Silas.

I changed back to human form and realized that I was naked. Well, shit.

Erik shielded me with his furry body. Yeah, I'm still not used to returning to human form, naked. April came downstairs and noticed me behind Erik while naked.

"I'll get clothes for Ana." She turned and went back upstairs. A few minutes later, she returned with some clothes for me.

I hid behind Erik and dressed. "Why can't I wave my hand or snap my fingers to get dressed?"

"Because you need to learn spells. Witchcraft is more than about active powers," Alex told me.

I moved away from Erik and took Silas from Kira. "I haven't learned spells. I didn't even know I was a supernatural creature until last year. Now, I have a mate, a baby, and I do weird things."

"Ana, relax. Most of us have spent our lives learning our abilities. No one expects you to become an expert overnight."

"Easy for you to say. Now, what is going on with Silas?"

Before anyone answered, Silas, disappeared from my arms. What the hell?

Erik took off upstairs in wolf form. Our kid disappears, and he takes off! I swear to God. A few minutes later, Erik returned wearing clothes.

"Is someone missing a kid?"

I spun to see Dante holding Silas, walked over to them, and took Silas from Dante. Silas had his finger in his mouth.

"It seems Silas does have abilities," Christian said.

I glanced at Erik as he glanced at me. Great.

*******
Mom arrived, had me put Silas in a playpen, then cast a spell on the playpen.

"What did you do?" I asked Mom.

"I cast an anti-magic spell."

Silas sat in the playpen and looked at us with a grin.

"Well, Silas takes after his mother since you did the same thing when you were a baby."

I did a double-take. "I did what?"

"Hunny, you started doing magic when you were a baby. That's why I had bound your powers. We didn't need the covens to discover you."

"I will never understand this world," I mumbled, shaking my head.

We heard a slight growl. I glanced around as everyone shook their heads. The growl came again as Erik and Christian stepped towards the playpen. We looked at Silas, and Silas growled.

"What the hell?" Erik said.

"He sounds like a puppy," Dante mentioned.

We looked at Dante with annoyance. Christian crouched to Silas's level, and Silas growled again as his eyes changed colors.

"Silas, it's okay. No one will hurt you," Christian said.

Silas smiled as his eyes changed back.

Christian stood up and rubbed his chin. "I need to conduct some tests, but Silas is showing his abilities."

"How is that possible? I didn't change until puberty," Erik said.

"Ana had a rapid pregnancy with Silas because of the Dreamweaver."

"What?" I asked.

Christian walked away. Okay, that doesn't help to leave me hanging with a question. I studied Silas as he grinned and drooled dripped from his bottom lip.

Christian returned with an open book, flipped through pages, and handed me to an entry.

"What is this?" I asked.

"It's a study of Dreamweavers from when I encountered one."

"Wait. You met a Dreamweaver?"

"Yes. I've met many supernatural creatures and researched them to gain knowledge of their existence. Dreamweavers control the dream world. Time accelerates in their world while they remain the same age at the time they perished."

My brows lifted, and I read through the entry aloud. "Dreamwears have black eyes compared to humans and supernatural creatures. It's to keep them from having a distinguishing feature. Their hair is black, while their skin retains a paleness from lack of sunlight. Dreamweavers contain an essence that accelerates the time and cells of any being, including humans and supernatural creatures. The rapid process will have detrimental effects on the being, causing death." My head jerked up, and I stared at Christian.

"The issue is that Silas is exhibiting a hybrid. If he absorbed the Dreamweaver's essence during incubation, the wolf and witch parts might have altered it."

"In what way?"

"It would make him a tribrid."

"Are you saying it's a possibility that our son is a tribrid?" Erik asked Christian.

"Not only is it possible, but real."

"How do we find out?"

"I'll need to collect blood samples and test Silas. The wolf and witch testing won't be an issue. The Dreamweaver is the issue."

"Okay. Then get a Dreamweaver."

"You will need access to them."

"Ana's been to the Dreamweaver world since she brought one back with her," Martin mentioned.

Everyone glanced at Martin, then at me. Great.

*******
I laid on the couch and closed my eyes. It didn't take long for me to fall asleep. I opened my eyes to find myself in an open field with a haze surrounding it. The quietness radiated throughout the area.

"It's peaceful, isn't it?"

I turned to see a woman standing behind me. "Am I dead?"

The woman giggled. "No, you're asleep. This is your dream world."

"A field is my dreamworld?"

"Everyone has a special place for their dream world. Watch." The woman altered the scenery, and a beach and water appeared.

My eyes scanned the area. The woman altered it again as it changed scenery.

"You're a Dreamweaver."

The woman nodded and smiled.

"But you don't have black eyes or hair. You look like a normal person."

The woman changed the scenery back to the open field and stepped towards me. "When Tempus disappeared, his disappearance released his control over the Dreamweaver world. We can control the dreamworlds without harming anyone."

"I met a Dreamweaver."

"Silas." The woman nodded.

"He mated with me after my alpha mated with me and left behind his essence. My baby absorbed it, and we need to know if the baby retained the Dreamweaver essence."

The woman stared at me.

"Please don't hurt me." I grabbed her hand. Before she reacted, we disappeared from the open field. I gasped as I awoke to find everyone staring at me. "What?"

No one said a word. What is wrong with everyone. I craned my head to see the woman standing there, speechless. I scrambled from the couch and backed away until I stood in between Christian and Erik. I figure if the Dreamweaver attacks me, I have back up.

The woman looked at Christian as he looked at her. Okay, this wasn't awkward standing here not saying a word.

Then Christian whispered, "Asia."

My eyes swelled. Well, shit.
