Alani Hale was a marine biologist who was born and raised in Kauai, a small island in Hawaii that was never heard of anywhere other than the state of Hawaii. Her family was a big one, with three older brothers and one younger sister, along with one Ba-Chan living in the small household.

Her family taught her all the morals that she stood by, and the community of her hometown of Waimea taught her much more. The morals were the following-

1. Family is forever. Or, as Lilo and Stitch put it, Ohana means family, and family means that no one is left behind or forgotten. The community would always take care of you as long as you never forgot them.

2. Live life until the fullest. The idea was simple enough, telling the girl to pursue her dreams and put in her best effort in everything that she did.

3. Believe in the supernatural. Of course, this was more of a way to encourage tourists and other people to the small island of Kauai, where there were rumored to be oceans filled with fantastical creatures like mermaids and sirens, but Alani never expected them to be real.

Or, in fact, for her family to be a family that was one that bore a siren's curse.

When finding out about the curse, Alani wants to do everything in her power to try and save her family, no matter what the cost. Even if that means trying some crazy experiments that might put her life in danger.

And give her some powers that would get her on S.H.I.E.L.D.'s radar.

PLOT

OKAY, BASICS.

Alani is a marine biologist that finds out that her ancestors messed around with some sirens, you can decide what they did, and they got cursed because of it. The family hasn't liked the water because of it, because one of the family members (they don't know who) in every generation is taken by the local siren group, and "becomes" one of them.

When Alani finds out, she wants to do everything in her power to protect her family. And, being a marine biologist, trusts herself to conduct some experiments and try to figure out a way to either a. prevent the curse from happening to her family and save them , or b. find out a way to protect her family.

(plot twist she's the one in her family that's supposed to join the sirens but no one knows that)

The experiments go wrong, and she gets powers of WATER MANIPULATION, and this works when she's not in the ocean because what's in the air? Oh yeah, Hydrogen and Oxygen, so she can pull the atoms together and "create" water to harness, when she is skilled enough .

Basically she gets on S.H.I.E.L.D. 's radar by accidentally causing a tsunami with no seismic activity around the area that she was in, and where the tsunami was. When Nick Fury comes to her about her powers, he offers to protect her family and help her harness her powers.

She agrees and joins the Avengers Initiative. Basically, she meets the rest of them, but keeps her distance because she doesn't want to hurt anyone because she considers herself dangerous as her powers have barely been harnessed when the Avengers are needed.

That's when Steve Rogers comes in. After Alani keeps pushing him away and away over and over again, she finally caves after seeing his determination to help her. He helps her channel her powers, and the two slowly ( SLOW BURN) fall in love. Now, I don't know when the best time would be to do this, probably right after he gets out of the ice, or during the first Avengers movie. It's your choice.

So Alani is in Winter Soldier, and Age of Ultron, but after Ultron, or before, it's up to you, she spends a day with her family, after finally harnessing her powers enough, she gets dragged underwater by a siren when all of them are at the beach. That's when this seaways into an AU, and she had to figure out how to stay alive, ro how to stop the curse.

She doesn't tell Steve any of this, and this will eventually lead up to a huge argument or something I assume, and they split. But you can choose how it all goes down, this is just a basic outline!

If you are going to put her in Civil War (which I strongly recommend) don't do the stereotypical "OH SHE'S ON CAP'S SIDE BECAUSE THEY'RE TOGETHER" because there's gonna be some tension between them still because of what Alani didn't tell the old man with a plan about her curse.
