Owl Boy
I stayed silent that very moment, but shrugged it off. She would show me in ten, to thirty minutes. Having nothing to do but to scroll through social media, I threw my phone on my bed, and threw myself on the bed.
I stared at the ceiling, looking over every detail and bump that stood out. I could easily point out the red paint splatter in the corner, that’s always been there. It’s been there for so many years, yet however hard you scrubbed it, it wouldn’t come off. The paint always looked fresh though, as if it was just splattered a minute ago. I don’t remember why that was there, though.
I glanced around, taking in every detail of my room.
Near my door, was a bunch of photos, which was mostly of me and Sam, sometimes even my dog. Above them, was my favorite pair of yellow and blue fairy lights, that I was given to for my sixth birthday, but I hardly even turned them on.
My walls were a light blue, and was very relaxing to the eyes. The floor was a dark, smooth, and polished wood, never seeming to collect dust. The floor was like that until it reached to my own personal bathroom. It wasn’t anything different from the other’s, though.
Shutting my eyes, I decided to rest for the time being.
Without any warning, I started to feel dizzy, and my eyes snapped open. I was in a whole different area, and not in my room anymore. Every where was pitch black, and I seemed to be floating. “Wasn’t… wasn’t I just home? Oh, I’m dreaming…” I sighed in relief, but the tension in my shoulders stayed, which wouldn’t go away for some reason.
“You have a horrible memory. Jeez, you’re still the same as you were as a kid; dumb.” A voice echoed from the void, but sounded like the person was speaking right in front of me, but no one was there. You could tell they were masculine, based on how deep the voice was.
“H-hah? Who’s there?!” I was startled, I’ve never had a dream like this before, and it was something not to be liked.
“I’m- we just had this conversation.” I suddenly started falling faster, to what seemed to be down. Nearly screaming for a second, I was cut off when I thumped onto a ground.
Wheezing, I just laid there, before a shadow covered my view on the moon. “I assume that the pills have worn off completely, yes?” A person with a owl face spoke out, the beak moved with how he talked. Taken off guard, I threw myself onto my knees, looking up at the dude. “Who… are you?” I questioned. He seemed way too familiar, but I couldn’t place my finger on it.
“Vanoss, but call me Evan, please.” He held out his hand for me to stand up.
His face, or mask, was grey color based, and his eyes were a soft red. Instead of having a black iris, it was bright white, making his eyes stick out even more. His bright blue collared jacket was slightly zipped down, and you could see his white shirt sticking out. His dark blue jeans was slightly baggy, but his red shoes looked great with it.
“Okay Evan, why am I here?” I grabbed onto his hand, which was surprisingly soft, and pulled myself up from my scratched knees.
He retracted his hand from mine, while I dusted myself off. Looking around at my surroundings, I noticed we were in some sort of park at night, and we were under a streetlight. “She’s back.” Evan said, and my eyes snapped back to him, “She’s back? Who?”
He suddenly sighed, and crossed his arms, “Those pills really did a part on you, didn’t they? They stopped you from having “dreams” for some years.”
“Pills- Oh, you mean my medicine?” I enlightened him, but he seemed to get more annoyed. “That isn’t medicine. That stuff removed all memories of us, Wildcat is probably gonna affected the worse.”
“Woah woah, removed? Us? What the hell do- Oh, right, dream.” I shrugged off the confusion, and chuckled. Evan only seemed to grow more annoyed and angered, which made me slightly worried.
He grabbed my hand, and shoved a pill bottle in my hand with a blank label, and shut my hand. “When you wake up, take one. This is serious.” He growled, as everything swirled into black.
I jumped up from my bed, when I realised I was awake again. I got up from my bed, and stretched, hearing a few cracks in my bones. Squeezing my hands, I realized I had something in my hand.
Before I could look at was in my hand, my bedroom door flew open and Sam ran in. “Hey sleeping beauty! Guess what time it is?” She yelled, ripping me off my own, comfortable, bed. Before I could even respond back, as was practically being thrown out of my room, and to the outside world.
The next thing I knew, I was in Sam’s mustang. “We were almost late ‘cuz of you! Luckily, I love you, so I rushed you out!” She said in glee, before she started up her car.
