Three

3rd Person's POV

"Do you have any idea how these things are connected to the shoot-out and hostage-taking that happened fifteen years ago at the gas station?" Clint asked his partner Dominic as he brought the files of the victims inside their interrogation room.

Both partners decided to talk privately about the incident that occurred years ago which resulted to the killings happening recently.

"Christian Sycangco. Luis Santos.  And the latest victim, Ornaldo Zobel. All are responsible for the death of Elise and Eugene Felicio." Clint pointed out and Dominic stayed silent on his seat.

"You don't have any reaction towards it?" Clint asked his partner and shook his head and sat across him.

"I was just thinking about it. I realized that most incidents occurred within the bar's vicinity. Isn't it a coincidence that the killer might be living in one of the houses nearby?" Dominic said thoughtfully.

Clint looked at him and leaned his chin on top of his left knuckles.

"You have a point there. Is it also wise to think that the marks on the victims' waists give us the clue who the killer was? I mean, EF looks familiar with me. " Clint said and rubbed his hands in excitement as if he had thought of a bright idea.

Dominic nodded and he began talking about facts related to it.
"Perhaps, the killer might be working in a bar? Or a coffee shop? Or a salon? Or, maybe, he or she is a regular of the bar and the owner doesn't have an idea that his bar is being nest for the murder victims?"

"But all we have are speculations. We need to have evidences. And, we have to caught him or her in the act." Clint said, sighing.

"Then, let's work on that as we get nearer to solving the case." Dominic rebutted.

"Do you have a plan?" Clint asked and Dominic grinned.

Eva's POV

"Hey. Lover boy's here." My co-worker, Sandy Roswell, nudged me while she makes cappucino for our customer.

I rolled my eyes and faked a smile when I saw one of our regulars, Dane Smith, approaching us at the counter.

Dane was persistent courting me even if I rejected him for a few times.

Okay, several times, already.

"Good morning, sir. May I take your order, please?" I asked in formality and he flashed me his smile.

For any normal girl, they would obviously swoon over how handsome Dane is. But, not for me.

He's just not my type. He's just too good to be true. Too polite. Too gentleman. Too nice.

It makes me want to puke at the thought of being with him and getting all mushy.

"Just a macchiato for me, Eva. " He said and I punched in his order.

"That would be $15, Sir." I said and he handed me his payment and gave his change after. "Your order will be served at your table after a few moments. Thank you."

Dane nodded and went to his usual spot in the cafe, which is at the far left corner where the shelves are.

"Good mo-" I said and smiled genuinely to the next customer when my words were cut off as I stared into the clear blue eyes of a man I almost mistook for a surfer.

His eyes brought me to the pacific as I stammered saying my lines.

"Good morning, Sir. May I take you-your order, please?" I asked and he gave me the brightest smile ever.

"Mocha frapuccino, please." He said and handed me the bill and I mumbled his change before giving it to him.

"I'll send it to your table, Sir." I muttered avoiding his gaze.

"Look up at me, lady." He said and it caught my attention that I literally looked up at him.

His gaze was suffocating and the reason why I avoided it was it made me feel something new.

"Learn to look into the person's eyes of the person you're talking to. It's called respect, lady." He said and I almost gasped in surprise. He smirked and said, "I'll go to find a table. See you later."

I watched him go and Sally whispered to my ear, "Man, the guy's rude. Too bad. He looks gorgeous. But rude."

"Don't mind him. Go and make his frappucino. I'll have my ten-minute break before I head out to the university." I said and rolled my eyes at her.

Sally obliged and winked at me.
"Wouldn't you serve his drink?"

"Serve, my ass! You go and serve it, Sal." I said and she chuckled.

I made sure I punched in the remaining orders of the last two customers before I passed them all to Sally and had my break and timed out.

I still have a class at two in the afternoon today.

I still have two hours to prepare for class.

Once I had my lunch at the cafe in the employee's corner, I went to my locker and threw my apron and uniform there to change to my clothes.

Four hours shift is tiring especially, when you are a working student like me.

I can't wait to start my life soon!

Evie's POV

Another day.

Another boring lecture from Prof. Marsden.

I tried to stifle my yawn as I roamed my eyes around the lecture hall.

Only few of my classmates actually listened and participated in the discussion.

I wasn't in the mood to be participative and be active today.

I was too tired to think about the next part of thesis defense especially now that my mind keeps reminding me about the past.

I know I have gotten over it.

But, it always seem to haunt me.

Is this a sign saying I should do what I have to do?
