Last Chapter
3rd Person's POV
Frantic and a panicky Eva rushed to where the policeman went and found her sister in a failed attempt to strike her last victim.
Jack Romero was all blood and bruises all over his face. Obviously, her sister beat him up using the impossible.
With her bloodstained micro-mini skirt and top, rage of frustration and madness were painted all over Evie's face as she held her bat in an upright position.
Just as Eva expected, the policeman has his gun on her in an attempt to stop Evie for totally killing the victim.
Evie must have not seen her because her eyes were focused on the gun that the policeman has.
"Stop whatever you are doing, Evie Felicio. You still have time to confess about your sins." The policeman said and stepped forward without breaking their eye contact.
Clint knew that at that moment any mistake would mean failure to do his job and a chance for the killer to run away.
In a few minutes, his comrades will arrive and with the remaining time that they have, he wanted to know what made this woman commit such heinous crimes. He wanted her to confess to her sins.
Eva, on the other hand, was tempted to distract the policeman by hitting him with something hard but her conscience was fighting with her.
She knew her sister needed to surrender but, at the same time, she knew she couldn't bear to lose another family member again.
She knew that the policeman wouldn't hurt her twin. She hid behind the dark and narrow hallway which was leading to the parking lot and was in full alert if the policeman will do something to aggravate her already confused twin.
"Confess?" Evie let out a loud chuckle which was almost demonic that Eva had to take a step back in fear. "You want me to confess? I never did anything wrong! I never did anything that would not give justice to my deceased parents!" She hollered and wiped the blood off her cheeks.
Clint gripped his hand tightly over his gun and remained on his spot. He just wish that his partner, Dominic, will show up soon.
He passed by a drunk Dominic a few minutes ago and slipped a note under his arm wishing he will sober up and take a hint.
"These guys already paid for it. They were imprisoned for several years. You do not need to kill each one of them." Clint said in an effort to convince her.
Evie let out a hollow laugh which echoed around the vacant parking lot despite of the loud noise in the background.
"Being imprisoned is not enough! They took my parents' life! And, they should be too!" Evie exclaimed and slumped wearily on the floor.
Evie played with the bat on her hand and Eva was afraid that she will hit the policeman anytime.
Then, Eva heard her twin sobbing. She wanted to run to her and console her but she remained stuck on her place.
Soon, Eva heard police sirens and she immediately covered her ears. Memories from the past came flooding back at her.
Meanwhile, as Clint began approaching her as he was convinced that Evie was exhausted enough to move and in her vulnerable state, he tried to place her hands in cuffs but the lady was quick to grabbed his gun and shot herself right on her head.
Clint was shocked and so was Eva when they saw how Evie's lifeless form collapsed on the cold and hard cement.
"Evie!" Eva wailed and came out of hiding. She ambled her way towards her dead sister and lifted her body where blood started to pool beneath her. "Why do you have to do this! Yo-you're my only tw-twin!" She sobbed and wept over her sister.
Police were astonished seeing the scenario in front of them. A lifeless body of a woman, a severely bruiser and wounded victim, a shocked officer and a woman who has the same face as the dead weeping on the ground.
"What the fuck!" Dominic exclaimed and gasped when he arrived at the scene. He could not believe what he was seeing.
The woman that he loved and the woman on her arms were indeed identical!
Does it mean what he thinks it means?
"Quick! Get them to the hospital!" One of the paramedics exclaimed as they hurried to lift him and Evie on the gurneys and off they go to the nearest hospital.
Policemen started cordoning the area and they finally got hold of the bar owner and had him brought to the police station for the interrogation.
Eva remained silent on her seat as she was being assisted by Clint as Dominic was driving.
Evie was pronounced dead on arrival and their uncle admitted to covering up for his nieces' sins. His bar was ordered to be shut down as he faced the prison cell for being charged as an accessory to the crime.
Eva, on the other hand, was sent to the Mental Facility as she was unresponsive ever since her sister died.
Eva regretted the fact of not being firm to her twin about not doing those things. She has a gut feeling that if she could have done that and put some sense to it, Evie would have stopped.
Eva also regretted not telling the authorities about what she knew the first time that her sister committed the murder on one of the hostage-takers.
Eva regretted not being strong. She regretted putting their uncle in an unwanted situation. Their uncle who had always warned them not to do it but still, they failed to oblige.
Now, all Eva felt was remorse and shame to herself and to everyone who became a family to her.
Gone was the life she will always look forward too. Gone was the normal life she wanted. Now, it will be her who will pay for her sister's sins.
