question: can i request how to shade?

shading digitally really is the same thing as shading traditionally (i think lol. i'm not an expert guys).
i'm going to go with traditional for this chapter.

mechanical pencils work for shading, but i prefer normal pencils because i can shade at an angle:

this is useful if you're doing a lot of shading over large areas.
there are many different types of shading-

(from pinterest)
you can use a mix of these, or just one. whatever you want!

all of those just use pencil except for smudge and tonal, which you do with with your finger, or a smudge tool. those are little paper thingies you can get at an art store- they help with more detail.
im using my finger because i don't own a smudge tool.
anyway here's a tutorial on shading-

so far i'm using hatching.

srry for the crappy pic but here i smudged the little circle with my finger.

here i added more shading on top

... and smudged it

added a floor

and then i added a shadow!
after you can clean it up a bit with an eraser:

and there we go!
and then we can apply that to something else:

so there we go!
