question: could you possibly do a tutorial on different eye expressions? and just how to draw eyes in general?

i recommend watching the video above- it's extremely helpful! (if it's not loading for you, it's a tutorial for how to draw simple dragon eyes by Biohazardia on YT)
so my eyes are usually very small, so i don toften add a whole lot of detail.
for example, this is an eye from a fullbody:
here's the whole dragon:
even there, i probably added too much detail lol
so really don't worry too much about your eyes, especially if you're drawing a fullbody.
but on to the tutorial:
first draw a lemon-like shape (make sure it's flatter on the bottom):
add the outline of a pupil and open a layer underneath this first one:
pick a medium color for the base, and highlight it a bit with a slightly lighter color:
then you can add some definition with a slightly darker color:
next you can add some other colors in. Most of the time, eyes will have more than one shade.
here's some ideas for colors that would work well:
brown base- gold or amber accents
blue base- green, teal, or silver/grey accents
green base- blue, teal, or gold/yellow accents
red base- orange, yellow, or gold accents
and so on.
But for this one i used green as the base color, and a green/teal as the accent color:
(my pupils are usually a darker version of the base color. this allows me to shade the pupil, because if your starting color is straight-up black, you will never be able to shade anything. This doesn't only apply to eyes! *cough* nightwings *cough*)
so here i shaded the pupil a bit:
now select a slightly off-white grey (again with the shading thing- this is the fact with straight-up white as well! you'll never be able to add a shine to your eye if the whites are pure white!
against scales of any color, you'll think that this grey is white.
and add a little light pink to the corners of the eyes:
do some shading by selecting black and turning the opacity way down (you can also add some veins with an even lighter pink):
now you can choose pure white:
again, turn the opacity way down. now add a shine:
here's a view of the layers lol
you can add scales too:
and as for eyelashes, well, they're dragons, so technically they wouldn't have eyelashes. but i sometimes add a few dark lines to add definition:
aaaand now we're done!
update: this eye isn't the only kind you can draw, of course.
there are many different kinds and styles! here's a few different ones:
these are from a book that i HIGHLY recommend:
it's actually something i got when i was in second grade and what originally inspired me to start drawing dragons!!
