十八: Kicking the Ball

The video that inspired me to write this drabble ^^

~~~~~~
Samantha slipped on her hoodie as she walked around China's house, trying to find her friends.
"China!" she called, "Hong Kong!" There was no answer. "They must be out, then."
She simply decided to go out to eat lunch by herself, grabbing her phone and wallet. She turned the doorknob, letting herself out of the house, then closed it gently behind her with a soft click.
As she walked down the pathway that headed to the city, she glanced at the green, grassy view at the side of the path. It was very pretty, she loved gazing at the blue sky and watching as the wind breezed past the patches of grass. It was her favorite too: mildly sunny with a gently breeze. The warm sunlight shone on her dark colored hoodie, making her feel comfortable and happy. At the same time, the wind rustled through her hair, as if an invisible comb has run itself through it.
Squinting, she saw a few figures farther into the grassy fields, chasing one another. Samantha felt curious of who it might be, so she ran across the field towards them.
When she got closer, she realized it was just her friends. China and Hong Kong were racing across the grass, fighting for a ball. A soccer ball. They weren't the only ones playing. America, Prussia, Germany, and Australia were playing, too. Shelby, Jenna, and Mexico were bouncing another ball between them farther away. Hope, Taylor, Dreamz, and Thaovy were sitting at the side with the rest of the countries, chatting happily. Hong Kong noticed the girl and ran over.
"Oh hello, Sam," he greeted.
"Hey," she replied. "Why are you all here today? And why are you all playing soccer? I've never seen you guys play before."
"We're like, training for a soccer match. All our other friends decided to tag along," he replied.
"Hey Sam! Wanna join us?" Shelby called from afar, gesturing for her to come over.
"Sure, why not?" she replied, noticing the odd number of people and jogging over to join them.
Samantha had to admit, she was terrible at soccer. For most of their mini soccer game, she either ran away when the ball went too high, or when it was passed to her, she kicked it in the wrong direction. The three didn't seem to mind her lack of skill, though.
Some of the friends that were sitting on the bleachers came to join the game. They chased after the ball that was rolling across the grass. As Shelby and Samantha neared the opposite team's "goal", Shelby passed it to Samantha, who kicked it, hard.
The ball went soaring over, heading towards Italy, who was crossing the field to find Germany. Before someone could yell "watch out", it landed on his head and he let out a wail.
The players stopped playing the game and rushed over to Italy. Thaovy literally flung herself off the bleachers and ran to meet him. Samantha apologized repeatedly as Jenna and Hope rubbed his back to calm him down.
"It's-a okay," he said, smiling. "Why don't-a we eat-a lunch before-a continuing? I made-a pasta!"
Everyone nodded in agreement. Suddenly, Germany spoke up.
"Italy, how and where did you make pasta?"
"I made-a it in-a China's kitchen!" he replied happily.
As if in response, a loud, frustrated "Aiya!" could be heard from far away.
